Roman’s POV ~

I saw that son of a bitch charging Paulina.. and Beau went apeshit! He was lucky… for now! I will kill him.. slowly! There will be no man left alive who ever causes her harm.

Brandon and I are here, in Anna’s room.. while Pers stays with our baby girl! Anna looks nervous.. and I smile at her. “Anna, my Luna is very fond of you.. that means we are fond of you! So, don’t be nervous, okay?”

She nods and says “Is she okay? Did they hurt her? She leaped that counter like some kind of avenging angel and saved me! She Saved Me! No one ever cared enough to do anything like that for me before!”

I grinned “She’s going to be okay.. a few broken ribs.. But she’s had broken bones before. What can you tell me about what happened?” She sat up straighter in her bed. “It was strange.. I noticed them pacing around outside.. it looked like they were arguing. Oh! You know what!? I think there were five altogether! They walked away.. so I didn’t think anything of it. I went back to filling salt and pepper shakers, and napkin dispensers. The doorbell dinged, and before I could even turn around completely, I was grabbed.”

She started to cry.. so I just waited until she could come to terms with her fear. I kept patting her hand.. whispering she is safe now. Brandon handed her a tissue and she blew her nose. Once she was back in control, she apologized. I shook my head “You have nothing to apologize for! You have been through something traumatic!”

She smiles “Luna is a badass! She didn’t hesitate! That big guy punched me.. twice.. Then he kept screaming about an all bright girl, and I tried telling him I didn’t know what he was talking about. I mean, what the fuck is an all bright girl? Before he could punch me again, Luna tackled him. And she yelled at me to get in the office. I didn’t need to be told twice!”

I gritted my teeth, and asked “Might he have been asking about an Albright? An Albright girl?” Anna shrugged and said “Still means nothing to me. I don’t know any Albrights either.” I smiled at her and told her “You did good, Anna! Your scream saved your life! Luna came and helped you, as soon as she heard it! And Ernie throws a mean cleaver!” She giggled.. and says “Yeah! That was cool!”

Brandon linked 🐺 Already have trackers heading out to pick up scent. We will find the other two! I linked back.. to him, and Perseus 🐺 I want them in the cells by nightfall!

I thanked Anna, and went to check on Ernie, before going back to Paulina. I walked in and I realized she was awake. Perseus told me he had called Mom and Dad. Paulina asked “Can we go home? I’m starving!” I grinned and said “Let me find Doc, and have her sign your discharge papers.”

Perseus was helping her dress when I made it back. Our poor princess is sore.. finding it difficult to lift her arm. I lean in for a quick kiss.. and think to myself I am getting quite addicted to her kisses!

We made it home, shortly before dinner.. and we went straight to the dining hall. She was walking slowly.. favoring her left side. We got seated, and Walt, our head warrior asked “Luna, are you alright?” Perseus stood and said “Attention, please! I need everyone to be alert! The diner in town was attacked today.. by unknowns.. and at this point, trackers are on the hunt. Three people were injured.. your Luna included!”

We felt care and support flood the pack bond.. then a snarky “Too bad they didn’t kill her!” was heard. I growled “Felicia! You will report to Alphas office Immediately after dinner! By that time, the King and Queen will have arrived!”

We ate in relative silence.. Pers and I taking turns feeding Paulina.. with her giggling intermittently. She’s just so freaking cute! I whispered “I love you..you, my love, are adorable” and she blushed beautifully.

After dinner, we went to the office.. waiting on Mom and Dad. Paulina said “I will put Felicia in her place. She is not going to make snarky comments and think it is okay. I am truly fed up with this day!” Perseus lifted her into his lap, kissed her forehead and told her “You are Luna, mi amour.. you start out as you wish to go on! We support you, in every way!”

Brandon walked in and sat down.. “ You have to teach me that hatchet kick, Luna! The rogue is still unconscious! The other one.. not so much! I have watched the video from the diner. Have y’all seen it?” I shook my head and said “Bring it up.. was anything seen in front of the diner, before they entered?”

He said “Not clearly.. but I pulled the video from the bank, across the street. And Anna is right.. in the fact there was five in front of the diner.. However, I believe there were more than that.. just not in town.. there’s maybe ten distinctive scents. Luna, did you recognize any of the scents in the diner?”

Paulina shook her head, asked “Why? Should I have?” Perseus said “Baby, they were looking for you.. they told Anna to tell them where the Albright girl is.” She gasped “That bastard! Brennan’s found where I am, then! He’s in for a surprise! I’m not that malnourished frail orphan he made of me!”

I hear my mother in the hall, outside the door.. “You WILL most certainly wait! Who the fuck do you think you are? You will be called when my sons.. Your Alphas.. summon you! Now, sit your ass in that chair until that happens! And for Goddess’ sake! Keep your legs closed! You fucking stink!” And she waltzed through the door, like the Queen she is saying “Ohh! My poor baby girl! Are you okay!?” As she laid hands on her ribs.. healing her. Perseus and I both facepalm while Brandon cracks up.

Dad grins “She’s been fretting since we heard Paulina was hurt. Apparently, I don’t drive fast enough.. or pay attention to the road.. or take the proper shortcuts.. or listen to my wife.. I am also too poor to pay attention. Just so you know!”

Brandon cracked up.. saying “Is it wrong that I actually heard him say all that in Aunt Reni’s voice?” Making Pers and I join in his laughter.

Perseus remarked “Let’s get this Felicia situation over with.. before we get down to what we know. I nodded and linked Mateo to bring Felicia in.

As he opened the door, and Felicia stormed in, Paulina gasped “Dear Goddess! Mom is right! You really do stink! You should consider douching with Listerine.. or some minty mouthwash! Damn!”
