The Damned Princess

I was glad I didn’t have any class with V, at least she won’t bother me for some time. I was free so I went to the library, I randomly picked a book and started to read it. I couldn’t concentrate because my next class was with Jayson.

Most probably he won’t come because their match is this Friday. I was upset because I hadn’t seen him the whole day, I don’t know if he remembers what happened yesterday or not. I’m not even sure if I want him to remember or not.

I was sitting alone at the very end of the classroom. Almost all the seats were filled and the teacher was already in the class, but he was not. Even though I was expecting him not to come, it still hurt to not have him around. As the teacher was about to begin, someone knocked and entered the room.

My eyes widened when I saw him, he was breathing heavily like he came running. He looked around and when his eyes fell on me, he started walking towards me. Oh no, no, no, not with me, I was praying to the goddess. He approached my table saw it empty and sat down.

My poor heart will fail someday, it was beating so fast. His scent filled my lungs, I tried to glance at him from the corner of my eyes, he was already looking at me. He smiled and whispered, “hi, Sienna”. My heart stopped for a second and I forgot how to talk.

After a long awkward pause, I replied “hi Jay..son” and smiled sheepishly, I almost called him Jay, that’s how I refer to him in my thoughts, thank goddess he didn’t pay attention to that. “I’m sorry about yesterday”, he said.

My eyes widened, he remembers and he’s sorry, he regrets what happened, “Rayn told me I was too drunk and you took care of me, I don’t remember anything but I’m sorry if I bothered you too much” he added.

I let out a long breath, he doesn’t remember, at least that is better than remembering and regretting I thought. “Oh that, yeah it’s okay I just took you to the room, and helped you lay down, you don’t have to be sorry”, I said.

“Still, thank you” he smiled. I nodded and smiled back. I didn’t want our conversation to end but I didn’t even know what to say. “So how did you wake up today” I blurted out. He looked at me weirdly, “I mean V also drank too much, so she was still hungover in the morning” I added quickly.

“No, I wasn’t that bad, thankfully Rayn made me drink a lot of water” he answered. “I saw you also drank quite a lot; you didn’t have any hangover” he questioned. “I guess I can handle my alcohol better than the two of you”, I said which made him laugh.

We started talking about random things, he asked about my home place and when he found out I was Italian, he asked the same question about having no accent. I told him the same thing I tell everybody else.

I found out he was from New York; he currently lives with his cousin Rayn and his girlfriend. We talked about how his practice was going on and how he was nervous about his first match at the university level. We were so busy with each other that we didn’t even realize the time was over.

The teacher left, but we were still sitting waiting for everybody else to leave. My phone buzzed, I saw it was V calling me, as soon as I pressed the answer button she yelled “Sienna Amore Castello, where the hell are you, you promised you’ll tell me everything” her voice was so loud I had to hold the phone away from my ear.

“How many times have I told you not to yell, I’m not deaf and why the hell do you keep calling me by my full name it sounds weird” I answered. She laughed “sorry, now come outside quickly”. “Yeah, I’ll be there in a minute”, I said and hung up.

I turned towards Jayson, he smirked “Sienna Amore Castello, that’s one beautiful name”. “I hate this girl” I cried. He laughed “hey I’m not making fun of you; I swear it’s beautiful”. “Yeah whatever” I pouted.

His eyes shifted to my lips making my breath hitch. After a moment he cleared his throat and said “come on let’s go before she calls again”. I just nodded at him. He was walking me out because he had to go back to practice.

He cleared his throat and said “I was thinking that maybe we should exchange numbers, in case we need to talk about notes or assignment” and scratched his neck. I bit my lip to not laugh, goddess he’s so cute, “yeah sure, give me your phone I’ll put in my number” I said nonchalantly, in my head I was jumping up and down. “I’ll text you”, he said and I just smiled at him.

We were outside, I saw Becky and V were waiting for me and they saw me with him. Damn, they won’t let me live peacefully. “Your friends are there, I’ll leave now”, he said and I thanked him for walking me out. “I’ll see you around Amore” he smirked, I blushed because it sounded so beautiful from him, “I guess you don’t know what it means”, I said and he smiled “I sure do”.

This made me blush even more, why am I so pathetic. As I was leaving, he stopped and whispered in my ear “you can call me Jay by the way” and winked at me. He noticed when I called him that, I bit my lip to stop myself from grinning at him and nodded. I waved goodbye and turned around towards my girls but I could feel his eyes on me the whole time.

V gushed “OMG, he walked you out, you both look so cute together” and Becky agreed with her, I just laughed at their childish behavior. “Where’s Liam”, I asked. “He’s waiting in the car, we thought you would tell us so we told him to go” V pouted.

I laughed and told them in brief what happened between us. They both beamed with excitement making me roll my eyes, “but it doesn’t matter because he doesn’t remember any of it” I said. “Don’t be disheartened Enna, you can always do it again” Becky smirked and V laughed. “Come on now, Liam must be waiting”, I told them.

I was on my bed when my phone buzzed it was a text from an unknown number, I opened it and it said ”guess who Amore“. I instantly knew it was him, I replied- ”stop calling me that Jayson, it’s weird“. Jayson- ”no it’s not, it’s beautiful just like you“.

Smiling like an idiot I replied- ”yeah whatever“. Jayson- ”I told you that you can call me Jay if you like it“. I replied trying to be cool- ”it’s just easier to say“. Jayson- ”haha, whatever helps you sleep at night“. I just sent a GIF of a girl rolling her eyes. We exchanged a few more texts and then said good night to each other. I went to sleep smiling like a fool.

Every new day felt better than the last one. College was not boring like the initial days. I was becoming a much happier person; Jay and I were getting closer. I didn’t see him much the past few days because his match is tomorrow, finally, then at least he’ll be there in class.

But we were talking more and more on the phone. We were getting to know each other better and I couldn’t ask for more at the moment. He texted me to meet him at the basketball court after I was done with my classes. When I reached there, he was playing, after admiring my view for a few minutes I called out his name.

"Ciao Amore" (hello) he said. I laughed “hey you finally said it right”. “Practice makes a man perfect”, he said proudly. From the day he found out the middle name he hasn’t called me Sienna. Amore sounds so perfect from him.

“So, you wanted to meet me, anything specific or just like that”, I asked. “Yeah, are you coming to the match tomorrow” he questioned. “Umm, I don’t think so because I don’t really get basketball”, I said. “What if I say I want you to be there for me”, he said so innocently.

I couldn’t answer him immediately, he had no idea what it meant to me that he wants me there for him. Poor thing thought I wasn’t interested and quickly added “I mean you don’t have to, I just thought you could be there and it’d boost me a little to see you in the stands”.

I shushed him “I’d love to be there for you Jay”. “Really” he beamed like a child. “Yes really” I laughed. “Great then I’ll see you tomorrow”, he said. I nodded and we both said goodbye.

I met with V on my way to the car. “We’re going to the match tomorrow”, I said to her. She looked at me with narrowed eyes “I literally begged you for two days straight to come with me but you kept saying you don’t like basketball. What changed now.”

I laughed sheepishly, “nothing, I just thought that I should accompany you since you’re my best friend.” “You know you can’t lie Enna, why do you even try”, she said with a blank face. “I’m not lying, I never lie to you”, I said like I was offended.

She just kept looking at me with a blank face, I knew she won’t give up, “okay fine, Jayson asked me to come” I said. “OMG really” she shrieked. Everybody stopped and turned towards us, I laughed awkwardly.

I punched her lightly and hissed “when would you learn to control your pitch”. “Sorry”, she said and blew me a kiss. “So, what about Liam and Becky, will they be joining us too”, she asked.

“No, I haven’t told them yet but I’m thinking I’ll ask Li to plan a date for them because they haven’t been getting much alone time”, I told her. When we were at the parking lot, we bid goodbye and went our way.

When we were home, I told Liam everything when Becky was not around. At first, he didn’t want to leave me alone but I convinced him because even he realizes that they need some time together.

I had to assure him a thousand times though, that I’ll take care and won’t get into any trouble. I was glad that they’ll be spending some time together because somewhere it is because of me even though they never complain.
