Chapter 36
SASHA
Leaving Aria alone right now didn't sit well with me but it looked like she didn't want any company. She seemed a little down but I understood why. Our ways were a bit too much for her. At first I didn't like the girl but she had grown on me and I had the urge to protect her. She was special, very special. I would check on her later, Dahlians were not to be trusted. They were wolves in sheep's clothing. Nothing was ever straightforward with them, even Alaric knew that.
I sat down in the tent were Alaric was still discussing with the leaders. It was annoying that they thought they could replace the only living Lycan King. He was their rightful King and they dared to replace him with a nobody. After everything he had done for them, saving them from themselves. Most of them were omegas and they were treated like slaves. Alaric gave them the opportunity to live as equals under his rule instead they betrayed him...again.
"The seven of you will lead the people and treat them as equals. If I hear anything about treason you will all lose your heads. I expect peace from this territory and you will maintain that peace." Alaric said watching them. He could read a person's facial expression and he was always right. I swear sometimes I believed he could read people's minds. "Do not disappoint me, there is a reason I hardly come here. That reason is because I believe there will always be peace here and growth. I would like to believe that you can handle that. I will always be watching you"
He was intimidating them and it was working. They all bowed down their heads slightly as a sign of respect. I watched them "We will always protect you, just don't disappoint us again. Prove to us that you deserve our protection and love because if you don't then we will let you ruin yourselves. You are quite good at doing that." I said folding my hands.
I felt superior because I was and I felt like sometimes we did too much good for people that did not deserve it but Alaric loved saving people that were a lost cause. They didn't deserve him but he was a true King for a reason. He never left his own kind behind even if they were useless. I heard a scream outside and my ears perked up. My whole body was on high alert in a second. Alaric raced outside immediately and I followed right behind him. Always protect your king, it was in me to always be by his side despite him being my family.
When I smelled smoke my heart fell and I ran towards her cabin. Alaric stood frozen in his spot as he watched the cabin burn. It was too late, everything was on fire. His face was emotionless as he watched the flames. I screamed in tears, this couldn't be happening. This couldn't possibly be happening, she was in there.
I ran towards the flames and Alaric caught me. He grabbed me by the waist "No! No! Let me go!" I screamed out loud. He didn't say anything as I fell apart. I shouldn't have left her, I knew I shouldn't have left her.
People were shocked as they watched the flames but noone was pure. They had done this! I fell to ground and watched the flames in tears. I have never felt so helpless in my whole life. I froze as I spotted a figure inside the flames, everything was blurry. I blinked away my tears and froze as the naked figure walked out of the flames with hair as white as snow.
I wiped my tears, maybe I was seeing things. I was losing my mind because that was surely Aria-alive. I looked at Alaric and the group of people around to check if they were seeing what I was seeing. Everyone was frozen, some were horrified as they took a few steps back. I stood up and looked again just to make sure. She was holding her dragons while one was on her shoulder. Her naked body was covered in Ash and she was shaking.
Alaric didn't seem afraid of her. He immediately walked towards and held her face. An older lady gave me a small blanket and I smiled at her before running towards Aria. I wrapped the blanket around her and she let the little dragons fly around but close to her. I was surprised that they were already flying but we would talk about that later. Instead I hugged her and she hugged me back.
I let her go and she looked at Alaric "someone tried to burn us alive, they wanted us dead" she said without blinking. "And we know who it is" she looked so different almost as if she had been reborn. I knew what she meant when she said 'we', her dragons. She had finally accepted that they were a part of her.
Alaric nodded, he pulled her closer and took in her scent. He was trying to be strong but I knew that he was furious, his wolf was scratching and itching for blood. He wanted out, he wanted to hunt. My wolf could feel her Alphas rage and it was scary. It was a deadly rage and whoever did this was not going to receive any mercy.
"Noone leaves this place..."I announced but typical for the guilty party to try to run away immediately.
A young man quickly shifted as he made his way to the forest but it was too late one of our warriors caught him in an instant. Two warriors also appeared dragging two men and a woman. The four of them tried to kill their own Luna, but why go to these extremes. I was angry, really angry and I wanted to rip them apart right then.
"we caught them trying to escape" the warriors said throwing the murderers in front of the King and Aria.
"why?" Aria asked the four and only one had the guts to answer that question.
The lady with dark hair, she had tears glistening in her eyes but she didn't cry. She was trying to be brave, she didn't look like she regretted doing this either. "You are an abomination! We all know this, she was born to kill us all! You shouldn't be alive, we will never accept you!"
Aria didn't cry, she just stared at the woman. Two of her dragons landed on her shoulders she held the other two in her arms. They landed there as if it was so natural and normal. She wasn't afraid anymore at all.
"their fate is in your hands" Alaric said as he watched her. I knew it took a lot for him to control his wolf and not rip them apart himself but just like me I knew he felt that Aria needed to do this, she almost lost her life and the trauma of being in that fire was horrible.
"They should know what hell feels like. The flames are beautiful this time of the night." she said in a cold tone. I could feel her rage, she was really hurt. They had ruined her and it broke my heart
Alaric nodded at the warriors and they dragged the four to the fire Aria had just walked out of. They screamed as they got thrown into the flames. I had no remorse, they had brought this upon themselves. Dahlians, they always disappointed us one way or another. Aria watched as they burned, she didn't blink or flinch. For the first time she had no guilt or sympathy towards the death of others.
