Chapter 395
"I don't care how your previous agency operated. Here, you follow our rules. Winter needs to be rebranded. Otherwise, her past controversies could easily resurface!"
Cade hung up the phone without waiting for a response and then called Ronald to report that he had already given the other party a stern talking-to. He assured Ronald that there was no need to worry further he would handle the situation properly. Noelle spent the entire day with Brian, mostly walking and stopping around the abandoned areas of West City for inspections.
Brian, being thorough, shared his observations and thoughts with Noelle as they went along. In turn, Noelle took notes while struggling to keep up in her high heels. It was not until the sun began to set that Brian finally called it a day. "That's enough for today," he said. Brian glanced at Noelle and noticed that she could barely stand, let alone walk. However, from morning until now, she had not uttered a single complaint or unnecessary word. She had not even mentioned being in pain or making any sound of discomfort. Brian's gaze fell to Noelle's feet, which were likely blistered by now. He could see her shifting her weight from one foot to the other as she stood.
He nodded in satisfaction. "Let's head back."
"Alright!" Noelle closed her notebook and followed Brian back to the car. As they settled in, Brian rummaged around before finally handing her a bottle of water. "This is all I have for now. I didn't plan ahead well enough this time. I'm sorry you got hurt." "Oh, it's nothing!" Noelle replied, suddenly understanding why Brian had been searching around. She had wondered why he had not started the car yet. "It doesn't hurt much. A woman who wants to look good has to make some sacrifices!" Despite her words, she could not help but rub her sore feet. "But I really want to thank you for taking me out today, Mr. Parker. I learned a lot from you!"
"It's getting late. Let's head back to the office."
"Alright!"
Noelle and Brian returned to the office, though it was already past work hours. After sitting for a short while, Noelle decided to head downstairs.
As soon as she got into her car, she felt something was off. Turning around suddenly, she was startled to see Charles sitting calmly in the back seat with a document in hand. "Are you done with work?"
"You scared me!" Noelle clutched her chest, her face pale. "Why aren't you in your own car? Why did you sneak into mine?"
She shot Charles an exasperated look, but he remained unfazed. He closed the document and gave her a once-over.
"You spent the whole day with Brian?" His tone was even, with no apparent change.
Noelle nodded. "Yeah, my mentor took me to West City. You mentioned the West City
Development Project, right? I can't believe he's letting me participate. But just started at the company. Do you think it's too soon for me to be involved in such an important project?"
As Noelle spoke, she did not notice the dark glint in Charles's eyes.
"Your mentor?" Charles repeated, his lips tightening. "You're calling Brian your mentor now?" "Yeah. He's my supervisor, and he's taught me so much. It seems only right to call him that."
"There's a problem. Actually, it's a very big problem!" Charles could not hold back his irritation. "I'm your husband, and if Brian is your mentor, doesn't that put him above me?"
