Chapter 22
Chapter 22
Joshua was tall and had a chiseled appearance. He had a majestic temperament and could easily handle any style of suit, like a prince.
As soon as he appeared, he attracted the attention of everyone in the ballroom.
To match Joshua, Gloria wore a white spaghetti strap dress, and everything from her clothes to accessories was top–of–the–line products from Stellar Group.
The dazzling jewels made her even more dignified and elegant.
As the spokesperson, she naturally couldn’t miss the opportunity to advertise on such an important occasion.
They danced gracefully to the beautiful melody.
They were like the prince and princess in a fairy tale.
Gloria basked in the envy of other women’s eyes and the greedy looks of men who lingered around her.
It seemed that all her feelings of superiority had returned.
Indeed, only she was the best match for Joshua.
She was always the noble and beautiful lady, while Christy was just a filthy girl that anyone could despise.
Joshua was clearly distracted.
For some reason, when he danced with Gloria, the stubborn and beautiful face of Christy flashed in his mind.
He actually missed Christy.
At the thought that Christy should be with a man named Alan in bed, Joshua became annoyed.
His eyebrows furrowed, and Joshua lost interest in dancing, his expression becoming increasingly cold and rigid. Gloria had wanted to chat with Joshua, but the negative pressure emanating from him made her unable to speak.
After that dance, Joshua used business negotiations as an excuse and let Gloria go to rest.
Gloria felt extremely depressed!
She finally had a chance to see Joshua, but she didn’t even get to say a word.
Gloria returned to her luxurious suite in the hotel.
And Terence was already waiting for her.
“Miss Gloria, according to the contract, Mr. Melendez has already paid you $100,000. And according to custom, you can choose one of these gifts.”
One hundred thousand dollars was the appearance fee of the new rising stars, which was consistent with the market price of a celebrity.
Terence’s voice was calm. The black tailcoat perfectly showcased his handsome and loyal temperament.
In front of Gloria were dazzling handbags and jewelry.
Each one was worth a lot of money, with some items costing hundreds of thousands, even the cheapest bag was worth several thousand.
“Mr. Spence, can I not take these gifts? Can you please tell Joshua that I just want to have a meal with him?” Gloria pleaded with a charming voice.
She was so beautiful, making men unable to refuse her.
However, Terence ignored her beauty and said without changing his expression, “Miss Gloria, Mr. Melendez is busy. You can only choose whether to take the gifts or not.”
Gloria was immediately angry and resentful in her heart!
She cursed in her mind. “Terence Spence! Are you still a man? I begged you like this, yet you don’t even compromise! You’re just Joshua’s dog! What gives you the right to act so arrogantly?”
However, she didn’t dare to utter a word of complaint in front of Terence.
She knew Terence.
If Joshua didn’t want to see her, Terence had ways to make sure she would never see Joshua again.
Gloria could only pretend to be pitiful with red eyes and chose the cheapest and simplest–looking purse from the pile of gifts.
Chapter 22
In fact, she really wanted to take that piece of jewelry worth hundreds of thousands!
But she dared not…
If Gloria took it. Terence would truthfully report to Joshua. In Joshua’s eyes, Gloria would become a woman who coveted vanity.
Over the years, she had been very cautious about her image in Joshua’s heart.
Every time, she would choose the cheapest thing, just to win Joshua’s favor.
Gloria wondered if it was just her imagination, but she felt that Terence’s attitude toward her was much colder than usual.
Until Terence sent her home, she felt like everything that had happened that day was like a fleeting dream.
She became increasingly antsy!
Could it all be related to Christy, that despicable woman?
If it weren’t for Christy arguing with Gloria at the company, Joshua wouldn’t have been so cold to Gloria.
Christy was just a jinx!
Gloria’s face became darker. She poured a glass of red wine from the liquor cabinet, took a few sips, and felt that the wine had gone bad.
“Bam!” She angrily smashed the wine glass on the ground.
At that moment, Christy had just helped two cute babies take a bath. She went to the bathroom to prepare to take a shower and then sleep with the two babies.
Clara rolled from left to right on the bed, knocking on Alan from time to time. She couldn’t fall asleep no matter what.
Alan, who was originally resting with his eyes closed, couldn’t help but quip, “Clara, if you keep tossing around like this, this bed will collapse! Then where are we going to sleep?”
“Alan, we met two bad guys today, and they scared me. What if bad people come and bully Mommy in the future? I don’t want to lose Mommy! Why don’t we find a man for Mommy? If we have a dad to support us, who would dare to bully our mommy?” Clara finally spoke up about her worries.
“Clara, didn’t I tell you before? We can’t just randomly choose a man to be our dad. If Mommy doesn’t like that man, he can’t be our dad!” Alan firmly refused.
“Then let’s find someone whom Mommy likes and make him our dad, OK?” Clara said naively, with her big watery eyes falling pitifully on Alan.
Alan was smarter than her and was her leader, so whenever Clara had something on her mind, she would always go to Alan for advice.
“Even if Mommy likes the man, it doesn’t mean that person likes Mommy, Alan said.
“Then we’ll make him fall in love with our mommy!” Clara, who was not as deep as Alan, said brightly,
“Our dad must be the most handsome, the richest, the one who loves our mommy the most and is also the person Mommy loves the most!”
Was there really such a person?
Clara’s words reminded Alan of the cold man at the airport.
That person should be their dad.
The truth was always cruel.
Apart from being handsome and rich, Alan couldn’t see any other advantages in that man. Moreover, the man had done such outrageous things to Christy, so Alan was completely unqualified to be their dad!
Alan’s eyes were filled with hatred again.
He had long considered his dad dead. He and Clara only had a mother, but no father.
Christy had already finished her shower and was standing behind the door, listening to the dialogue between the two little ones. Her heart was filled with a trace of sorrow.
Even though she had been taking care of them wholeheartedly for all these years, she could never make up for the fact that they grew up in a single–parent family and lost their father’s love.
The tall and handsome figure of the man flashed through Christy’s mind, along with his arrogant gaze and his sweet lips. Just thinking about it made Christy blush.
Chapter 23
That man was not an ordinary person.
