The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart (Brittany and Isaac)

Chapter 826

Brittany's face was as pale as a ghost, sending a shiver down Kari's spine. She couldn't bring herself to linger.

Leaving the hospital, she found Ronald waiting at the lobby entrance.

"Why are you here?" Kari frowned upon seeing him.

Why couldn't this guy take a hint and leave her alone?

"I heard Ms. Dustin was admitted. Thought I'd come and check on her."

Ronald knew Kari wasn't his biggest fan, but he didn't care. Patience was a virtue he had plenty of, and he was determined to win her over.

"Brittany's not doing well; it's probably best if you don't go up. Since when did you and Brittany become so chummy?" Kari expressed her skepticism.

As far as she knew, Ronald and Brittany barely knew each other. Why the sudden interest in visiting?

Ronald caught her suspicious gaze and chuckled lightly. "Your mother told me Ms. Dustin has been good to you, and you think of her like a sister. That makes her my sister too." Kari was taken aback. "What are you blabbering about? She's my Brittany!"

"Then she's mine too." Ronald leaned in closer. "I found out something interesting about Jolin. Want to hear?"

"Do you know why Jolin took on this lawsuit?" He raised an eyebrow. "Jolin works for Isaac. It's pretty obvious he put her up to it."

That's when it hit Kari. The odd feeling she got from Brittany earlier must have been because of this revelation.

"I need to go back and check on Brittany!"

Ronald grabbed her hand firmly. "Let it be. This is between them-a marital spat. You're just going to end up watching the drama."

Kari tried to pull away, but Ronald half-dragged, half-carried her to his car. "I've told you what I know. Now, you owe me a meal." Kari's eyes widened in disbelief. "Since when did I agree to dine with you?"

"You've heard the news I dug up, haven't you?"

Ronald instructed his driver to take off.

Kari glared daggers at Ronald, cursing him under her breath for his cunning business tactics!

...

Brittany never would have guessed that Isaac would intervene.

Was all the suffering she endured for nothing?

She opened Twitter to a flood of news about Jolin becoming Joie's defense attorney.

Taking a deep breath of fresh air, Brittany sought to calm her raging emotions.

Feeling somewhat better, she packed her things and discharged from the hospital.

She went straight to the studio, but Kari wasn't there. Immersing herself in her work, she turned off her phone, cutting off all outside communication.

Isaac arrived at the hospital only to find out Brittany had already been discharged.

Clearly, she knew.

Rushing to the studio, he found Brittany immersed in her work. Hesitating before approaching, he said, "You're not fully recovered yet. Why the rush to leave the hospital?" Brittany casually flipped through a file. "Didn't Mr. Salter promise to seek justice for me? And you have Jolin defending Joie. Is that your idea of justice?"

Isaac was unsettled by Brittany's icy stare. "Bri, let me explain..."

"Isaac," she cut him off sharply. "What exactly do you want to explain? How deep your feelings for Joie run?"

Isaac was at a loss for words; it wasn't like that.

"It's not what you think..."

"Then what is it?" Brittany scoffed. "Did Joie threaten you into this?"

Isaac took a deep breath, knowing he had wronged Brittany. His voice softened. "I was wrong. After the trial, I'll make her apologize to you personally." Listen to that!

A personal apology?

Brittany slammed the file down, her eyes burning red with anger. "Isaac, is that all this is to you? Something that can be fixed with a simple apology?"
