The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart (Brittany and Isaac)

Chapter 776

Chapter 776

Kari paused mid-bite, "Regardless, she's your mother."

Nathan was reluctant to talk about the past, but Kari was the woman he planned to marry, and it didn't feel right to hide it from her.

He set down his fork and knife, "My mother was the other woman. When she gave birth to me, the original Mrs. Jarvis was still alive. Later, I was adopted into the Jarvis family."

Truth be told, the Jarvis family treated him well.

Even the son of the original Mrs. Jarvis, who was the eldest son of the family, Jacob Jarvis, had a special fondness for him.

The kinder they were to him, the more he despised his own origins.

Upon reaching adulthood, he left the Jarvis family.

After graduating from university, he started working with Isaac, and that lasted for almost a decade.

Mila had always hoped for his return, eager for him to compete with Jacob Jarvis, a notion he had no desire to entertain. The disagreement eventually led to a falling out, and they hadn't made contact for nearly five years.

It wasn't until Mila softened her stance that he gradually reestablished contact. But things never returned to the way they were. With his upcoming wedding, Nathan had initially planned to only inform the Jarvis family. He hadn't expected Mila to disapprove, let alone show up in Imperial City.

Kari was surprised to learn of Nathan's background and put down her cutlery, "So, you and the eldest son of the Jarvis family..."

"My brother has always been good to me. He has never treated me poorly."

Nathan firmly believed that he and his mother were the cause of the original Mrs. Jarvis' misfortune.

They were the outsiders, yet they had disrupted Jacob's family, causing him so much distress.

Kari took his hand, "Nathan, don't blame yourself. This was not your fault."

"If I hadn't been born, maybe Mrs. Jarvis wouldn't have died."

Kari didn't agree, "Your father had an affair. You had nothing to do with it. Nathan, you have nothing to apologize for." Nathan disagreed.

Being a child born out of wedlock was a sin in itself.

Their dinner was far from pleasant, and Kari didn't manage to fall asleep until well into the night.

The next morning, Kari received a call from Brittany, "I'm back in Imperial City. Let me know if you need anything."

Kari felt relieved, "Alright."

Nathan and Kari were meeting Mila for lunch. Out of respect, Kari put on light makeup and accompanied Nathan to the prearranged restaurant. When they arrived, Mila was already there.

Within the private room, aside from Mila, there was another young lady. She was the epitome of grace and elegance, the kind favored by high society.

"Mother." Nathan, holding Kari's hand, greeted Mila.

Mila stood up, her eyes welling up with tears.

The last time she saw Nathan was three years ago.

Watching her increasingly distant son, Mila felt a pang in her heart.

Nathan let go of Kari and embraced his mother.

After wiping away her tears, Mila turned her gaze to Kari, inspecting her.

"Madam." Kari responded with a polite smile.

Kari was a beautiful woman who had spent years in the jewelry industry. Her mannerisms were on par with those of professionally trained high society ladies.

She wore a white suit that accentuated her figure. Her long hair was pulled back and secured with a jade hairpin, exuding both

ease and elegance.

Mila was surprised. She had thought of Kari as an ordinary office worker, but her appearance and demeanor were exceptional.

No wonder Nathan was smitten. She couldn't be just any woman.

"Let's sit and talk."

Mila pulled Nathan down to sit, and he pulled out a chair for Kari to sit beside him, not even sparing a glance for the other woman

in the room.

"Ms. Malone, I do not approve of your marriage to Nathan."

Mila was blunt, "You and Nathan haven't been together for long, and your emotional bond isn't deep. It's best to separate now. I can give you whatever compensation you want." Kari was mentally prepared for this, but upon hearing these words, she still found it somewhat difficult to accept.

She took a deep breath.

Before she could speak, Nathan interjected.

"Mother, your approval for this marriage isn't required."

"Kari and I have already set a date for our wedding. If you approve, I welcome you to attend our ceremony, but if you don't..."
