The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart (Brittany and Isaac)

Chapter 3

The neighborhood in front of them must've been pretty old, with the whole place looking really worn out, walls covered in graffiti. The security guard was practically dozing off, and everyone came and left freely.-

Brittany, who had lived in a villa since she was a child, felt a pang of sorrow for Isaac when she saw this neighborhood.

"Mr. Salter...it feels a bit distant to call you that, we're married after all."

"From now on, I'll call you Zakky." Brittany decided on her own. "Zakky, how long have you been living here?"

"About a month."

Isaac lied without a hitch and walked into the neighborhood.

Brittany followed him. Despite the neighborhood's age, it was well-equipped.

At the stairway, she was carrying a suitcase, her arms sore. The man walking in front didn't seem to have any intention of helping her.

Brittany complained to herself: No wonder he doesn't have a girlfriend. He's got no chivalry at all!

Even if they are contractually married, he should at least help carry the suitcase!

He went up to the fifth floor and opened the door.

Brittany climbed up to the fifth floor, slightly out of breath, and carried her stuff through the door.

A two-bedroom apartment of around 70 square meters, covered with wallpaper to hide the signs of age, had a cold and lonely atmosphere.

Isaac was satisfied with Nathan's efficiency. He opened the shoe cabinet and changed into a pair of slippers.

Brittany stood at the door, watching his natural movements, and believed even more that he really lived here. "Are there any other slippers?"

Brittany stared at Isaac. She came in a hurry and didn't bring anything except her clothes.

"There are disposable ones."

Isaac went into the kitchen.

Brittany carried her suitcase in and indeed, there were dozens of disposable slippers in the shoe cabinet. Brittany was chocked.

Who would prepare so many disposable slippers at home?

Does he often bring other women back?

"What are you looking at?"

The man came out of the kitchen with a cup of water, looking cold.

"Nothing."

Brittany snapped back to reality. Whatever the reason was, it had nothing to do with her.

She put on the slippers and looked at Isaac: "Which room do I stay in?"

"The first one on the left is mine, you're in the second one." Isaac sipped his water: "Also, don't just walk into my room."

He didn't like people invading his personal space.

"Okay, I got it."

Brittany dragged her suitcase and opened the door. The room was small, but well-equipped.

It was apparently cleaned regularly, spotless, with a few potted plants by the window, pleasing to the eye.

She took out her stuff and put them away.

She took out her phone, planning to buy bedding, but when she went to check out, it showed that her account balance was insufficient. She forgot that she was penniless now!

But she still needed to sleep at night, she couldn't just sleep on the wooden boards.

Or, could she ask Isaac for help?

Isaac watched her enter the bedroom, took out his computer from his briefcase, and clicked into the internal network.

Nathan sent a message: [Mr. Salter, are you satisfied with the house?]

Isaac: [Hmm.]

Brittany came out of the bedroom, and Isaac calmly exited the webpage and opened the official website.

She thought he was looking for a job, so let her think that.

"Zakky, do we have extra sheets at home?"

"No." Isaac shook his head and asked, "Are you out of money?"

She said she had a falling out with her family and wanted to to rent with him, so where would she get the money to pay the rent?

Brittany thought he was upset that she was a burden on him and hurriedly explained, "I have a job, and I'll get paid soon, I won't stiff you."

"I remember, you were going to give me half a million."

He didn't take that card.

Brittany remembered that the money in that card was her savings over the years: "Yes, that card, do you want it?"

If he wanted it, she would give it to him now.

Isaac looked into her eyes, "No need, you spend it yourself."

"Just like you said, we're partners, I don't need a reward."

Brittany breathed a sigh of relief, went back to her room, bought the bedding, and had the supermarket deliver some ingredients.

When the delivery person came, she took the stuff and thanked him.

"Zakky, I'll cook tonight, do you want to eat together?"

Since he let her live without paying rent, let her be responsible for the meals!

"No need."

However, this man rejected her again.

He was very picky and only ate what he carefully selected.

Brittany felt a little regretful. She went into the kitchen and started preparing dinner. She was doing it by herself and the food was relatively simple.

In less than ten minutes, a plate of spaghetti was ready.

Isaac had been quietly observing her the whole time. She was so ordinary that he couldn't find any signs that she was trying to get close to him.

Brittany carried the spaghetti to the dining table, took out the side dishes she bought from the supermarket, portioned them out, and placed them on the table. She hadn't eaten much all day and was now starving.

She didn't care that Isaac was still there and focused on eating her spaghetti.

Isaac smelled a delicious aroma, a pure food scent mixed with the aroma of tomato meat sauce and wheat.

He was always picky, but this time he felt a desire to try it.

But she only made one serving of noodles, not his portion.

He said he didn't eat, so she really didn't make it?

He rubbed his temples and shut down his computer with a snap.

"It's getting late, rest early after you finish eating."

"What about you?" Brittany looked at Isaac: "Aren't you eating?"

"I have to go out for a bit."

There were still a lot of things to deal with at the company, so he couldn't waste time here.

After he left, Brittany ate her spaghetti clean, tidied up the kitchen, and cleaned the coffee table again.

There were newspapers on the coffee table, and the recruitment section had been circled. The circled place was Grandeur Capital.

It seemed this man was really looking for a job.

Brittany suddenly thought of something and called her friend Hannah: "Hannah, do you want to have dinner together tonight?"

"No, our company just got a new boss, and I'm super busy recently."

Hannah sounded exhausted. Ever since the new boss took over, everyone in the company was busy.

"Have you eaten yet?"

"Not yet, I'll order some takeout in a bit." Hannah was too tired to move.

"Wait for me, I'll deliver it to you."

Upon hearing this, Hannah didn't argue. Brittany's cooking was good, "Thanks, after I'm done with this busy period, I'll treat you to a meal." "It's nothing."

Brittany hung up the phone, whipped up a couple of dishes according to Hannah's taste, packed them into a food flask, and headed downstairs.

Upon arriving at Grandeur Capital, Brittany met up with Hannah who was alerted of her arrival and took her to a nearby coffee shop.

Hannah was a typical workhorse, currently gorging on the delicious food in front of her.

"Bri, you have no idea, the big boss is a monster. I am almost exhausted now!" Hannah complained, as she had been so swamped that she hadn't had time to go home and rest, looking all sorts of ragged. "By the way, you're in HR right? Could you maybe help me... I mean, a friend of mine get a position?" Brittany came to see Hannah with the intention of helping Isaac.

Hannah didn't know Brittany was married yet, so she just referred to Isaac as a friend.

"Send me his resume."

Hannah, who had joined Grandeur Capital right after graduation and excelled in her role, had made quite a name for herself in the HR department within two years, thanks in part to her family's support. "He doesn't have one."

"What's his education level?"

"Undergraduate, it should be a good university. Brittany guessed.

Hannah took a sip of her coffee, "Bri, you know the company has high standards for hiring. But you're my bestie. Get his resume together and send it to me when you can, I'll see what I can do." Brittany was extremely grateful upon hearing this, "Hannah, thank you."

"We've been friends for years, what's with the 'thank you'? If you're really grateful, cook me meals, haha!"

"Sure, I'll cook for you every day for the next week-" Brittany was cut off mid-sentence as she caught sight of a figure exiting the Grandeur Capital out of the corner of her eye, her expression instantly changing!
