The Beta and Her Omega / Old Version ✔️

Chapter Thirty-Seven | Twenty-Four Hours

“Awe, look at that little baby!” April gushed, showing Jack while he stared at the photo in complete confusion. “Just look at it, so little and tiny!”

“First of all, little and tiny are the same thing.” Xenia rolled her eyes, leaning against the counter while Vincent stood with them. Alpha Zander and Tilly were in their own little love world while they were also in the room. “And second, can you even see it?”

Jack slowly nodded. “Of course... it is... right there.”

“Where?” Vincent questioned, a smug smirk on his face while Xenia snickered.

“There!” Jack pointed his finger landing on everything else but the small child. “Or there, I do not know anymore!”

Xenia snorted, taking the photo before she showed him where it was. His eyes brightened as he could finally see where everyone else was looking after all this time. He took the photo while April began to gush again, Xenia watching them while her mind was in a different place.

They had twenty-four hours before the coming war. Her nerves were beyond anything she had ever felt before but what made it worse was this baby. She was thrilled about it, but the timing was the worst possible thing she could ever think of, and she found herself making fun of the queen when she was a child, that woman was almost killed while pregnant and now Xenia finds herself being in the same position.

Hopefully, she does not get an arrow through her chest.

Or Wolfsbane, either was not wanted.

“Hey, you are zoned out,” Vincent mumbled, bunting her shoulder as he smiled down at her. She could not believe how chilled out he was for someone that was placed under pressure. He should be the one freaking out and yet, here he was, smiling down at her as if they were not preparing for their deaths.

“I have not seen Grace or Jesse in a while.” She randomly said, standing up straight while she allowed April and Jack to keep the photo of her child. “I am going to go find them.”

“They are in the garden,” Alpha Zander randomly said while he fed Tilly a fry, her small face turning red as she looked away but continued to eat it. “Have been for the last hour.”

“Thanks.” She cheered, making her way into the living room before she noticed that Vincent was causally following behind her. “You are attached to me.”

He shrugged, opening the sliding door for her while he talked. “I just need to be around you as much as possible. I have a bad feeling and I cannot shake it.”

Xenia frowned, stepping out as some Pack members rushed around for the final preparations. “Tomorrow will go as smoothly as a bunch of deaths could go. At least, I will be locked up in a cell, not knowing what was going on. Thinking that everyone is dead and possibly have the entire Pack annihilated by-”

“That Pack is weaker than ours.” He cut her off, holding her shoulders so that she would look up at him. “I know that we will win this, and I know this is all my fault but I also know my father and he will eventually get bored with all of this but that is not why I have a bad feeling.”

“Then what is it?” She questioned Jesse, coming into view with a worried expression on his face.

“I cannot find Grace!” He cried, his grey eyes watering while he looked around. “We were playing hide and seek, and she disappeared!”

Xenia looked up at Vincent again, his face falling which confirmed that this was indeed his bad feeling. Her scenes kicked in before she remembered that they were still wonky. “Have you picked up anything?”

Vincent shook his head. “No, not yet.”

“I lost her.” Jesse whimpered, hugging Xenia’s leg while he wiped away his tears. “Please help me!”

“We will sweetheart,” Xenia reassured. “I will go left, you go right.”

“Meet back here in ten minutes?” Vincent questioned Jesse, taking his hand as he wanted to be with him instead of her. “Promise me.”

Xenia nodded. “I promise. Ten minutes and no longer than that.”

Vincent stared at her a little longer before he nodded and began to walk away with Jesse attached to his hip. Xenia watched them get further and further away before she ran into the trees. Calling Grace’s name while she tried to get her bearings.

It was abnormal for Grace to suddenly disappear. She was known around the entire Pack as being the little girl that wanted a family and she had finally found one. Both Vincent and Xenia had adopted her in their own way as she had slowly snuck into their lives and made herself at home as if she had always been there.

And as Xenia called her name in panic, she realised how much that kid had meant to her. Grace was that daughter that she had never had and while she was pregnant, the thought of Grace having a younger sibling warmed her heart.

Xenia, I am getting something!

Lola’s voice spoke through her mind as she gasped and smiled. ’Really? Where?′

You are not going to like it; can we get Vincent here first?′

Lola’s worried tone caused Xenia to pause in her steps, her eyes frowning as she contacted Vincent about her location. ′Tell me, Lola. You know I can handle it.

I can recognise that scent from anywhere!′ Lola growled. ′It is THAT guy again!

Xenia sighed and rolled her eyes. ′You are going to have to be more specific?

Lola fell silent, Xenia could feel her frustration as she paced inside of her mind like a maniac. ′The one that almost killed us! The guy that shot the Wolfsbane at us!′

Oh,′ Xenia realised. ′Shit!
