The Alpha's Rejected Mate

His eyebrows shoot up in amusement as he registers what I said. Then they narrow in confusion. “What are you talking about?”

Trying to backtrack I reply quickly, “Oh, nothing. I didn’t mean anything. Let’s just change the subject...”

“Change the sub—Oh. You felt it.” Well no shit, Sherlock. “Fuck!” He swears.

“Yeah, that’s what you were doing right?” I cover my mouth with a gasp. What was wrong with me?

“Letti, I am so sorry. I was drunk and upset and I don’t even know how she got into my room. I would never have sex with someone you—” His words break off and I’m left curious. Someone I what?

“You would never have sex with who?” I paused waiting for him to answer. He doesn’t so I try again with a stern voice. “Cade, who got into your room?”

“I swear I didn’t mean to. I would never.”

I wait.

He sighs and eyes closed in pain he answers, “Elizabeth.”

“Liz!” I exclaim on a scream. “You had sex with Liz! She has a mate!”

And as if the world wanted to cause a shit storm Brent through the door just as I’m saying these words.

“I’m going to hope that you are talking about another damn Elizabeth or I am going to pummel your ass until not even your Alpha genes can save you.”

“Brent—” I start but he cuts me off.

“Shut it, Scarlett. And put some fucking clothes on. What would Kaiden think if he saw you like this with this asshole? Unless you got some too last night? I should have known you and Liz are both whores!"

“Don’t you bring Scarlette into this. I only fucked your mate because she came to me and I was too drunk to say no.”

“Liz wouldn’t do that to me. We’re in love. She’s my mate.”

“And I do love you, Brent. Believe me when I say I'm sorry, but he’s hot and I wanted a taste.” As if she wanted to make things worse Liz had to come in and say that. Fucking great idea.

With that the first punch is thrown. I thought that it would be Brent punching Cade, because you know, its Cade, but no. As Brent swings I watch as his fist glides towards Liz and instinct makes me move as I take the fall force of the punch and drop to the floor unconscious.

When I wake I’m in a room and everything is white. White walls, white ceiling, white bed and I think, oh God, no more good food! I hate hospitals. They’re pretty much a symbol of death and death is gloomy.

“Letti?” It’s a quiet whisper, but I still hear it.

“Cay?” For some reason I say his name the way I used to say it.

I hear his guttural groan as he scrambles to my side, pulling me into him.

I grunt in pain at the movement and he rushes to apologize.

“I’m sorry, do you want some water?”

It is then that I notice how dry my throat is and I nod as he hands me a cup of water and I whisper the words, “Thank you.”

“I’m sorry that happened to you. It’s my fault.”

“Yes it was. But I understand. Liz is beautiful.” I shrug.

“You’re gorgeous, always have been.”

I smile.

“I know it’s not an excuse but I wish I never did it.”

“I know.” I whisper. But it’s a lie. I don’t know.

“And I brought Chinese.” He says as he holds up the bag.

I moan as the thought of eating good food comes to my mind.

I smile and thank him as I begin to stuff my face with the food.

That’s how Kaiden finds me minutes later as he comes into the hospital room.

“When is she going to wake—Scar! You’re awake.” He rushes over to me and smothers my face with feather light kisses murmuring, “I love you” with each kiss he delivers.

“Come on, the doctors told me you could leave and Liz wants to see you and apologize before she leaves. She’s going back to the pack house.”

“Oh, okay. Just let me finish this piece of food.”

“Who brought you food?” He asks as he looks around the room. I’m confused when I see that Cade has left. Where did he go?

“Oh just the nurse. She said that she new hospital food sucked and she bought Chinese food for us to share.” I grin.

“What was her name?”

“You know what? I didn’t even get a chance to ask her! Let’s go now.”
