The Alpha Twins Rejection

Chapter Chapter Thirty - Ashley's P.O.V

Tossing and turning all night, I felt like crap when I dragged myself out of bed at 4 am. Since I had walked out of the hall last night, I had not seen nor spoken to anyone. It kind of hurt that neither of the twins had come to try and smooth things over. I guess I was right to be willingly leaving.

Looking critically at my reflection in the mirror, I note last nights makeup is smeared all over my face, so I decide to have a brief shower to clean myself up and to try and chase some of the tension from my body away with hot water. At this moment, I guess I felt precisely how Rayne and Kane had felt when I had rejected them. And it hurt. So much.

Another thing I knew without a spubt was that Eve and Jessica would be gloating over their perceived win. Naturally thinking they had snagged themselves Alpha twins. Whether they had or not was a different story, one I wasn’t going to stay around long enough to find out. My time at River Run was coming to an end, I thought with a sigh.

Stepping out of the shower and quickly dressing in tights and a crop top. I make quick work of packing my bag, thankful that I didn’t bring much with me, so I am done in no time. Grabbing my bag, I make my way down to the kitchen and find Liz already in there. She eyes my bag and then hands me a steaming hot cup of coffee and motions for me to take a seat at the kitchen island. I was sure going to miss her.

“I didn’t take you for a quitter,” Liz finally says between mouthfuls of her bagel. “I thought you were a fighter Ashley,” she continues earnestly. “I am done fighting Liz.” I reply instantly, not bothering to look up into her searching gaze. “Some things are worth fighting for,” she replies softly and walks out of the room without a second glance.

Maybe Liz is right. Perhaps I need to take a deep breath and confront the twins today instead of running off with my tail between my legs. Sure, I was wounded by their actions, but I need to get the confirmation of their acceptance of my rejection over and done with before I leave I guess. Either that or I need to force their hand to accept our mate bond.

Looking at my watch, I race out of the front door and head for Mace’s house. I had an hour before the training session began, so I didn’t have time to waste. Almost fourty minutes later, I make my way back towards the training centre, head held high. This was either going to be the best decision I have ever made, or it was going to backfire publicly.

Either way, I would ultimately know where I stood with the twins. As I force the training centre door open, I take a deep, calming breath. Spotting Mace leaning against the wall just inside the door, I head directly to him. “Is everyone here, Mace,” I whisper into his ear. “As many people as I could find on such short notice,” he replies. “It is hard to gather people when you can’t answer their questions of why,” he continues.

“Sorry about that,” I reply with a tight smile. “Are you going to fill me in yet?” he asks with a cocked eyebrow. “I want to teach a some siblings a few lessons,” I say sheepishly, a dangerous glint in my eye and a cocky smirk on my face. Mace doesn’t reply, he just chuckles ruefully, his face nearly splitting in two with a huge devious grin to match mine.

“Can you make sure everybody is paired with someone to spar apart from Jessica or Eve,” I say to Mace with a conspiratorial wink. “Anything for you,” He says playfully as he walks off, giving out orders for people to pair up and find a free spot on the mat.

Surveying the room, I notice quickly that the twins are not in attendance and curse under my breath. Everything is riding on their presence. Sweat begins to gather under my ponytail at the thought of not going ahead with my plan. Just as my brain goes into overdrive trying to think of a alternative way to force their hand, the double doors are suddenly pushed open, and all eyes snap to their Alphas as they stride into the building with the simpering bitches hot on their heels.

Both Rayne and Kane scan the room as soon as they enter, their eyes landing on mine before they split up and start talking with pack members. If I had any hesitations before about enacting my plans, they just flew out the window.

Looking over to Mace, I nod my head slightly at him to continue with the training session. Once everyone is paired off, I walk over to Jessica, who is standing on her own, naturally wondering what to do since she doesn’t have a partner.

As soon as I approach her, she stands up straighter and narrows her eyes. “What do you want,” she hisses, eyes darting around the room. She may have been confident last night with her sister beside her, but on her own, it looks like she was a scared little bitch. Good. She had every right to be afraid of me.

“You don’t have a partner, so I am filling in,” I reply sweetly, and before she can respond, I kick her legs out from under her, knocking her on her arse for all to see. Jessica looks up at me with fury in her eyes. “You will pay for that bitch,” she spits while clambering to her feet. Poor thing doesn’t know whom she is messing with, I think, with a snort.

Allowing her to get to her feet, Jessica charges me full force, screeching as she does. I sidestep out of her way the last second and grabbed her by the hair, forcibly pulling her back to me. Her nervous hands fly up, clawing at mine for release, but I tug harder, watching tears prick at the corner of her anxious eyes.

I could severely hurt this bitch if I want to, but I don’t. I want to get a personal message across to her and her sister. Loud and clear. Her wailing inevitably draws the attention of the rest of those training, and they all start to gather around. Good, I think, this is why I asked Mace to get as many people as he could to the training centre this morning.

As I had anticipated, it doesn’t take long for Eve to rush furiously to her sister’s defence, screaming shrilly and swearing savagely at me. Inadvertently causing a big scene. Anxiously scanning the room, I notice Rayne and Kane standing towards the back of the congregation. Arms crossed over their broad chests. Merely watching my every move.

Good, I think—time to get this over and done with. Eve pushes through the last of the circle gathered around us and lunges for my arm, presumedly to force my grasp of her sister’s hair. A move I had also anticipated.

God, these sisters were so fucking predictable I could laugh. Eve doesn’t have time to register my free hand raised behind me until the open-palmed slap jerks her head sideways, sending her sprawling onto the floor at her sisters’ feet. She sits there like a stunned mullet, so I use the minor distraction to make my intended point.

Cleaning my throat, I look towards the twins, who are now slowly making their way to the front of the group, towards me with guarded expressions. “Listen up,” I shout furiously, the nervous chatter in the room instantly dying down—clearly all eager to hear what I have to say.

Jessica tries to swivel in my grip, so I forcibly pull her hair harder, tilting her head back painfully. “I may not be a River Run pack member. Yet.” I say to hushed murmurs and audible gasps. Looking directly at the twins, I continue bitterly.

“This last week, I have put up with snide remarks and have been unjustly treated like a dog. Not only by members of River Run but also their Alphas,” I say hotly. I will give credit to the twins; they look ashamed at my words and look at the floor instead of at me.

“And I will not tolerate it any longer,” I continue. Eve suddenly remembers where she is and jumps to her feet, jabbing a finger into my chest. “You are just a skank who thinks she can waltz in here and try and sleep your way to becoming a Luna. I have heard all about you and how you tried to seduce Alpha Dante,” she spits contemptuously.

Enormous mistake, little girl, I think. I had only wanted to put them in their place, but she just crossed the line. Within seconds the sickening crunch of her nose breaking fills the room, and she starts to scream the place down. Within seconds she is being dragged from the room by one of the Betas, so I continue.

“Before I continue, is there anyone else who has something they would like to say to me,” I ask, inspecting the room. When no one replies or comes forward, I continue. “As I was saying, I am sick of it. Despite what Jessica and Eve think, I am not here to sleep my way to the top. I am already at the top. I am a Luna of Blood Moon and the only female Beta in existence,” I say in a deadly low voice.

“You won’t get away with this”, Jessica spits, desperately looking towards Rayne and Kane and as if they are her knights in shining armour. I can’t help it. I start laughing sarcastically, which takes the poor girl by surprise—her cocky look slipping from her face. After several seconds I control myself and wipe the tears from my face.

“You are sorely mistaken if you think MY mates will help you,” I say bitterly, making sure that everyone in the room hears it. I release my hold on Jessica’s hair and aggressively push her towards the crowd. All heads are looking between the Alpha twins and me in stunned shock, trying to let my words sink in.

Turning fully towards them, I notice their masks are gone, and they are both staring at me with their eyes wide in bewildered surprise and small smiles on their puzzled faces. Gotchas, I think. Their hand has been forced, and they will have no excuse to torture me anymore. They will have to talk to me now.

I don’t want for the questions that are sure to come. Instead, I wink at the twins and then push my way through the crowd, making my way towards the exit, wanting to get out of here and fast. I don’t get very far before rough hands seize me by the waist, and I am being spun around into the arms of Kane, his mouth crashing down on mine with a punishing kiss. It feels foreign by not unwanted.

Opening my mouth to deepen the burning kiss, he moans softly into my mouth. “Fuck, that was the hottest thing I have ever seen,” he whispers. Judging by the bulge I can feel pressing against me, I know he isn’t lying.

“I’m sorry for how I have treated you,” he says solemnly, running his hand nervously through his dishevelled hair. “So am I,” another voice says anxiously from behind him. I step sideways and notice Rayne walking slowly up behind us, hands in his pockets.

“And I am sorry for the way I treated both of you. The pain I caused.“I couldn’t continue. I knew how low they felt after I rejected them. It was my turn to look at my feet, a hot flush creeping stealthily across my face.

Cool hands gripped my chin and lifted my face. I was met with the most beautiful swirling chocolate eyes. “And I have to agree with my brother. That was the hottest thing I have ever seen” Rayne chuckles. The unusual sound going straight to my core, spreading warmth to all the right places, heating my face even more. God, if the sound of their laugh makes me wet, I hate to think what their touch could do, I suppose absentmindedly.

Rayne and Kane give each other a curious, knowing look and their smiles get broader. And god, if those smiles weren’t illegal. After only seeing scowls on their faces before, it was nice to see genuine, wide grins. It instantly transformed them from handsome to absolutely stunning. If I had to describe it, I would say their wicked grins were panty droppers. They were that good looking.

A weird look crosses Rayne’s face, and for a second, I wonder uneasily what is wrong, and I am about to ask when suddenly he steps forward and places his large hand at the back of my head and pulls my face closer to his, dropping down to plant his soft lips onto mine. I sigh against his passionate kiss and allow him to deepen it. Twins I think witha laugh.

When he pulls away from me, he looks at his brother again with a massive grin on his face once more. “I have to agree,” he says thoughtfully to Kane’s unspoken words. “Huh,” I say, coking my head, merely looking between the two of them. They laugh sheepishly, so I shake my head and ask my next question. “So I guess this means you are not accepting my rejection”, I enquire.“It never crossed our minds,” Kane says with a laugh that has me narrowing my eyes at them. Those bastards, I think miserably and storm off.
