The Alpha Twins Rejection

Chapter Chapter Fifteen - Alpha Twin's P.O.V (Kane)

Rayne and I unanimously decided to head out once again after everyone had gone to bed. We naturally wanted to head back to the local hospital and check out the unknown source of the intoxicating aroma.

Jax had virtually driven me insane all day with his non-stop anxiously pacing. I bitterly cursed the Goddess several times for pairing me with such an insufferable prick. “You can talk, Kane”, Jax spat.“I have also been paired with an insufferable jackass that won’t find mate”, he continued sternly with a fierce snarl.

“If you keep this shit up, I will inject myself with wolfsbane just to gain some welcome respite from you,” I growled back hotly. I would never actually do that as I had heard the countless stories of how painful the shit was. The thought had me shuddering involuntarily as I considered the unimaginable pain Ashley had been put through.

If I ever crossed paths with Alpha Dante, I would kill the fucker with my own bare hands. Whoa, back up, where did that thought come from? I wondered uneasily. It had Jax standing to attention, nodding his head vehemently in enthusiastic approval. “I will rip his fucking heart out,” he said fiercely through gritted teeth.

I could feel the palpable fury rolling off him but didn’t have time to properly consider it or analyse its origins before Rayne mind-linked me.

“Where are you Kane. I am waiting in the tree line out the back”, he huffed. “Be out in five,” I replied promptly, hastily chucking sweat pants on and hurrying towards the back door.

We wisely decided it would be best to carry our clothing with us while we allowed Jax and Hunter to run free in Blood Moon territory. We didn’t like the idea of being caught prowling naked on another Alphas turf so late at night, especially since we hadn’t bothered to ask permission first. An indiscretion we would have mercilessly killed for if the shoe was on the other foot.

As soon as I reached the extensive forest, I could see Rayne had already transformed into his wolf form, Hunter’s large eyes glowed up at me in the moonlight. I wasted no time allowing Jax to come forward, subtly reminding him to carefully carry the sweatpants in his large mouth as we took off towards the outskirts of town. He huffed at the inconvenience but did what he was told.

We wasted no time in finding the hospital again. When we were close enough to see inside the illuminated windows, but still well hidden in the trees, we sat on our haunches. Waiting several minutes anxiously watching and listening to the comings and goings until we were assured that nearly everyone had gone to bed. The only people that appeared awake inside were a small skeleton crew of nurses checking that flittered from room to room as they checked up on their patients.

My brother and I carefully made our way around the hospital, letting Hunter and Jax scent the balmy air as they went. They instinctively kept their considerable bodies low to the ground to avoid possible detection. “The scent is strongest here,” I said to Kane. Hunter promptly took a deep breath in and then sat down under a small window. Jax mimicked Hunter’s movements, and he too, sat down and allowed his tongue to loll out of his mouth with apparent happiness.

“Let’s do a quick perimeter check and then shift to take a better look,” I said to Rayne. Hunter nodded his head in mutual agreement swiftly heading one way around the hospital while I took the other side; when we came back several minutes later, we decided that it was safe to shift.

After putting our sweatpants on, we crept silently towards the visible window that Hunter and Jax had indicated. Although we could smell the delicious aroma, their scenting ability surpassed ours, and we trusted it. Rayne and I crouched low under the window, a small shrub doing what it could to mercifully hide our large frames.

Rayne and I sat there for a couple of breathless minutes until we were sure we would not be seen and then slowly raised our bodies to peek into the window. One thing we were not counting on was the hospital curtain around the bed being drawn, and even though we could see into the room, we could not see anything surrounding the bed.

We had other senses to rely on though, and could smell the intoxicating vanilla scent even more due to the window being open ajar. It additionally allowed us to hear the faint moans of a woman coming from the direction of the bed.

“Do you hear that, brother?” Rayne said with a snicker via mind-link? “I do, brother. It sounds like someone is having fun,” I replied. Our eyes had adjusted to the darkness and in the dull light that shrouded the room we could see the visible silhouette of a curvy figure lowering themself up and down on someone in a chair.

The astonishing sight had me feeling like a twisted pervert, but I couldn’t tear my eager eyes away. I had never enjoyed watching others having sex before, so I didn’t know what came over me. It seemed Rayne couldn’t either as we both watched eagerly, transfixed to thw spot.

I knew if I looked down that my brother would be as hard as I felt. The moans escaping the private room mingled with the sweet vanilla scent were driving me wild with unbridled lust. “What if it is mate being fucked,” Jax growled fiercely from within. Shit.

The thought had me clenching my fists at my sides, nostrils flaring. I looked over to Rayne and could tell that Hunter must have suggested the same thing as he, too, was fighting desperately for control.

The uncomfortable thought was infuriating. I felt like shattering the window and climbing in to find our mate, to confirm or deny our mounting suspicions. I would brutally kill anyone who had improperly touched my mate before me, that was a personal promise that I intended to keep.

I could tell that Hunter had almost taken control of Rayne as I had to restrain him long enough to calm down, allowing him to gain control once more. When he had, we both decided the best thing we could do was go back into the forest and go for a run to sufficiently clear our minds before returning to the guest house.

There was no way we could adequately explain breaking into another packs hospital and killing people; it would sign our death warrants. No, it was better if we ran off some steam and held off until tonight to meet our mate finally as much as the plan pissed the four of us off.

It was funny that only days ago, we were content with being single alphas, able to pick and choose whom we willingly gave or time too but since arriving at Blood Moon Pack, it seemed our destiny was now in our hands, and it was something that we were going to take with both hands and hold onto with dear life.

We merely had to be patient and wait until the Goddess decided to reveal precisely who our mates were, I thought bitterly. I desperately wanted to go back to the hospital, kill everyone and carry our mate back to our territory triumphantly. It took all of my strength to turn away from the scent of our mate.

“Kane, we can not be out here much longer. Alpha Miller expects us to be running perimeter checks with Beta McMillan this morning,” he wisely said. “Just a couple more minutes, I want to run some excess energy off Jax, or he is going to give me hell all day,” I huffed back in exasperation.

I knew his pain, Hunter just wouldn’t let up and continued to fight furiously for dominance. I was growing exhausted of his lack of discipline. He was carrying on like a small child who had had their favourite toy taken off them.

“I wonder who’s room we were looking into,” Rayne replied through gritted teeth. Hunter, cocked his head sideways as they contemplated the question. “I am sure I scented Delta McMillan,” I replied gruffly. Something about the pup pissed me off. I knew the feeling was mutual. He didn’t hide his haughty disdain for my brother and me. He was fortunate, for now, that we were intrigued by Alpha Miller and his partner Ashley I thought with a contemptuous sneer.

If McMillan didn’t have either of those, I would have wiped that snotty look off his face long ago.

“Do you hear that” Rayne scarcely spoke as he came to a halt. I promptly stopped and listened carefully. It sounded as if a bulldozer was clearing the forest. Weird, I instantly thought, why would somebody be clearing the forest this late at night.

We decided to check out the noise and silently crept into the woods. As we got closer to the sound, we both scented the air “McMillan,” we said in unison. We crept cautiously closer until our shrewd eyes rested on what we had been looking for. Delta McMillan was punching trees and shattering them like they were nothing under his deft hands. We eagerly watched in stunned silence as he went from tree to tree, screaming at the Goddess for forsaking him and then taking his fury out on them with his bleeding fists.

“Wonder what the fuck is up with him,” I said to Rayne. “Maybe he has found his mate. It is obvious it isn’t Ashley, he is cursing the Goddess,” I replied with a shrug. While I felt sorry for the guy and his predicament, I couldn’t help the smug smile that crept onto my face. Served him right for playing with fire, I thought sarcastically. If my hunch was correct, the shit was about to hit the fan at Blood Moon.

The Ball was undoubtedly shaping up to be an event I wasn’t likely to forget in a hurry. I made a mental note to find McMillan at the start of the night and keep a close eye on him. Alpha Miller had already assured us that we would have the pleasure of meeting his daughter today, something we were both eager for.

McMillan stilled momentarily, sensing someone was watching him. We wisely decided now was a good time to make our retreat, so we turned on our haunches and ran back towards the guest house. We didn’t bother going back to bed. Both of us were too on edge with all the different scenarios of finding our mate going through our head to get any sleep.

We sat in brooding silence, waring with our wolves until it was time to meet Alpha Miller. After running checks all morning, we had a brief lunch with Alpha Miller and then went back out without him. By mid-afternoon, a lone wolf was spotted by one of our men, so we sent our delta back to the packhouse with an urgent message.

Rayne and I were both hoping it was Alpha Dante so that we could rip his fucking head off and prove ourselves worthy adversaries to Ashley. I had no idea where the pissing match for Ashley’s attention came from but sensed it was due to the unspeakable horrors she had been subjected to at his hands over the years. No one deserved to be treated like that. Especially another Alphas daughter and only child, I thought bitterly.

Before long, Jace returned and let us know that Alpha Miller was aware of the situation and had promptly sent out men of his own to help defuse the possible threat. Jace had a cocky grin on his face which piqued my genuine interest. “Care to share what you find so amusing,” I asked tersely, not thinking it an appropriate time to be happy. “The rumours were right, Alpha,” he replied with an even bigger smile. “What rumours,” I snapped, making Jace’s smile slip from his face. “The ones about Beta Ashley,” he replied hurriedly, not wanting to look me in the eye. “And what rumours would that be,” I asked, trying to rein in my temper.

I had a feeling what he was going to say but wanted to hear it anyway. “Ashley is the most stunning she-wolf I have ever seen,” he said in awe, waggling his prominent eyebrows.

One moment I was looking at Jace. The next he was gone. I followed the sound of a startled cry, and my eyes widened in shock at the site of Jace being thrown up against a tree with Rayne’s hand wrapped tightly around his throat. Jace looked as stunned as I had felt. I looked cautiously at my brother in stunned silence. His eyes were deadly black. I knew instantly that Hunter was taking control. What. The. Fuck. Was all I could think, and before I could ask him what was going on, Rayne had promptly released Jace and had stormed off into the forest, quickly shifting into his wolf form and taking off before anyone could follow.

I had never seen Rayne lose control like that before. There was something about Ashley that naturally brought out the protective side in both of us. I couldn’t place my finger on why, however and hoped we were about to find out.
