The Alpha King’s Virgin by Charmeleon Chapter 89

Chapter 89

AMARIS

We had not yet entered the southern borders of the Fae kingdom when Ross linked me. “How can we be sure this isn’t a trap? Queen Elif isn’t a fool.”

“I guess we’ll have to see, won’t we.’ And I thought I was the paranold one. “Be prepared for whatever may come.”

She was a formidable opponent, that was true, and she ruled the fae with an iron fist. If not for her arrogance in suggesting that I surrender, tuck my tail between my legs like an obedient puppy, I never would have agreed to this attack.

Whatever beef the elven commander had with his queen was none of my business. I just wanted my mate and unborn back in my arms, and if I had to destroy Elif’s empire to get them, so be it. I had a cause and a love worth dying for.

Entering the charmed forest I felt the unease of my warriors settling over me like a mantle of dread. I wasn’t fooled by the seemingly serene surroundings, the sweet songbirds flitting among the trees, luminescent flowers giving off heady perfume as we marched by, I knew that danger lurked behind those dense trees.

The eleven commander held up his hand to halt the procession. “The rest of my fighters will be meeting up with us over that ridge.” He held his hand on his sword. “But be ready, Queen Elif’s spies are everywhere. This is going to be a bloody battle.”

“We are ready,” Lord Greyson spoke up. “We’ve faced worse enemies and emerged victorious.”

I admired Lord Greyson’s confidence. With him and Ross at my back I would fight my way through hell and not be afraid.

The forest thrummed with whisperings on the wind, as if every living plant warned the creatures of our advance. Like ghosts they emerged from under bushes, behind the trees, pixies, elves, more dwarves, joining our procession, soundlessly falling into pace with us.

Before long we reached the summit of the ridge and to the west the castle loomed in the distance. The walls were a blindingly white stone structure standing on a grassy hill, seemingly unprotected. But I knew better. Behind those walls were the highly trained elite guard, hand chosen for their archery skill as well as their proficiency in hand to hand combat.

My wolf paced restlessly, scratching at the surface to be let out, eager for battle, hungry for blood.

‘Soon, Rage. Soon.‘ His adrenaline fueled mine and my skin tingled with anticipation. We were born for this,

A piercing cry

shattered the serenity of the forest. Arrows whistled through the air, catching us off guard. Ambus

“Amaris! Watch out.. Ross hurtled towards me, shoved me to the forest floor. I heard him grunt as our bodies collided. Then he lay still on top of me.

“Ross“”

He took two arrows between his shoulder blades. Those were meant for me

Screams and howls mingled. We were surrounded. Fear and blood scented the air.

Ross’s eyes were closed. Still breathing. Still alive. I had to get him to safely.

I pulled him away from the fray and plucked the arrows out. “Transform into your wolf, damn you!” I needed him to heal

fast.

They attacked from all sides. But our numbers were greater. Rage took control. He bounded into the battle ripping through the foe. Many perished at his feet.

Sprites threw magical spheres at Rage that stung like a thousand bees wherever it landed.

The elven commander deflected the attack, swinging his enchanted blade. “We must break through to the castle!” He shouted above the tumult. The ogres and dwarves attacked with renewed strength, pushing the attackers back.

*Advance!‘ I roared at my wolves. We moved faster in our wolf forms.

Ross’s grey wolf emerged from the undergrowth having healed. Together we charged down the ridge, running towards the castle. Lord Greyson and the rest followed.

We split up into three divisions, approaching the castle from different sides. As expected there were traps. A few of my warriors fell victim to them, impaled by sharpened stakes. The archers on the ramparts shot blazing arrows at us.

“Don’t fall back!‘ I roared at them through the link. We stormed up the castle walls using our werewolf strength and agility. The elves didn’t expect us to retaliate with such force. Bodies piled up on either side. Once inside the walls I took human form and opened up the gates for the remaining wolves and our allies to enter.

Ross and Lord Greyson joined me where I stood in the courtyard, naked and covered in blood and gore. I roared out Elif’s

name above the noise of the ongoing slaughter.

“Elif, I’ve come to negotiate the terms of your surrender!”

The elf commander and his soldiers cleaned up ruthlessly. He wasn’t about to take prisoners.

High up on a balcony Queen Elif and her emissary appeared. She stared down at the carnage below, her face a beautiful

mask.

“You may have won this battle, Amaris. But you won’t win the war that is coming your way.” She called down to me. “I see you have aligned yourself with that traitor Egnor.”

“Your reign is over Queen Elif. You have oppressed us long enough.” The commandermotioned for his soldiers to move

into the castle.

“And you will take my place Egnor the Traitor?” she laughed. “He will betray you in a heartbeat, Amaris. For the right price.”

“Surrender and I will be merciful.” I wasn’t interested in their politics. I was eager to leave for the Magus‘ Realm.

A shadow passed over us and when I looked up I saw the Pegasus swooping down towards the balcony.

“Shoot it down!” I yelled at the elven archers. She was escaping

They were hesitant.

“Shoot it!” I used my Alpha aura to force them to react. But it was too late. She jumped onto the back of the flying horse. As she reached out her hand for Thalia, an arrow from Egnor’s bow pegged into the horse’s flank. The Pegasus bolted. Thalia’s scream echoed through the courtyard as the queen fell to her death.

Shocked silence shrouded the surroundings. But then a cry rang out and was soon taken up by everyone; “The Queen is dead. Long live the King!”
