The Alpha King’s Virgin by Charmeleon Chapter 88
Chapter 88
BAINE
I was the key to everything that’s what Willa said. Key to what? What could Quindin’s motives be? Did he plan to claim sovereignty over the Supernatural World? He firmly believed that my child would be more powerful than he and he wanted to control that power, to mold it to his design. But where did that leave me? I couldn’t help but feel that I was just a pawn, a tool in his quest for domination and I wasn’t about to let him use either of us in that regard.
Despite being free to roam about the fortress, browse the ancient books in his library of which there was an extensive collection, I was being closely watched by either Willa or Pippa, one of the other young witches.
My search for a map of the fortress or the grounds proved fruitless, but I haven’t given up hope of escape.
Quindin kept to himself, except at dinner time when all of us ate together. I kept our conversations to a minimum. The less I Interacted with him, the better. I neither felt nor wanted a connection with him at all. He was as cold and distant towards me as I was to him.
Although, it was clear that the witches adored him and went out of their way to please him. Especially at night, judging from the noises I heard coming from his room, grunting, moans of pleasure. He was open about the fact that he took turns with the witches, every night a different one or sometimes multiple witches at once.
This increased my desire for Amaris. My body and soul yearned for him every minute that passed, and Tasha’s sorrowful whimpering at night only made it worse. I had to leave, find my way home, and find my king because I couldn’t take it any longer.
Since no one would help me, I would do it on my own. Multiple times I’ve tried to access the power within, without success. I believed the Magus had somehow blocked it. He said it wouldn’t work because the pup knew there was no threat to either of us. I didn’t buy it.
I discovered a treasure room of sorts where an assortment of weapons were on display in glass cases. I found myself drawn to the bejeweled daggers some of which looked ancient. This was indeed a collection of some sorts. There were other ornaments, sculptures, and magical relics as well. I had no clue what most of it was for. Willa named a few of them but I wasn’t really paying attention. I was more interested in the weapons because I thought of a plan. A desperate one, but it just might work.
“Better not touch any of those.” Willa warned me when I was about to pick up a golden dagger that caught my attention. It had a black stone put in its hilt “That object has been cursed by a powerful Egyptian sorcerer. I wouldn’t want to find out what happens if you hold it.”
“My pack members believe I have been cursed.” So what difference would it make if I were to take it? It could come in handy. I reached out my hand to take it. This was an opportunity I couldn’t afford to miss.
“No! Don’t!” Willa shouted and lunged at me as expected.
Quick as lightning. I held the blade to her throat. “Don’t make me use it.” I snarled at her. “Get me out of here. I must leave
I now!” I gripped her arm firmly still holding the cursed blade against her slender neck.
“You’ll never make it.” Willa gasped. The smell of her fear was pungent, like rotten apples.

I needed her to be afraid. “Shut up and walk?” I pressed the blade deeper against her neck. We went down a dark passage. Luckily there were no other witches around. They would most likely be busy with Quindin doing Goddess knew what
“He will punish both of us if we get caught. Raine, please, you have no idea what he is capable of.” Willa’s pleas fell on deaf
She’d better make sure we don’t get caught. 1 don’t care. Move!”
Willa tried once more to dissuade me. “It’s not safe out there. The dragons will come for you.”
“Til take my chances. Amaris will find me.” Using her as a shield I propelled us forward. “Let’s go!”
She led the way through a narrow door behind which there was a steep spiral wrought iron staircase descending into an unknown chamber.
“This better be the way out, Willa.” I had to remove the blade from her neck to move more easily, but I had a firm hold on her
- am.
1 have a bad feeling about this.” Tasha warned as she paced restlessly through my mind. She was probably right. The little hairs at my nape stood to attention.
“There.” Willa pointed to a door. “That leads to the outside.”
I pushed her forward. “Open it. You’re coming with me.”
She was about to open the door when a gust of wind at my back made me swing around to be met with a hard slap to my face. The dagger flew out of my hand when I crashed onto the stone floor. Quindin towered over me, a furious scowl on his
face
“You leave me no choice but to lock you up, Raine.” He turned on Willa. “And as for you. Wait for me in my office.”
She glanced at me in passing, her eyes were wild and terrified, like a hunted deer.
“I forced her to help me escape.” My ears still rang from the slap I received. I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand, smearing it with blood from my split lip. “You shouldn’t punish her for it.” The dagger lay glinting a few feet from me. If I could just reach out
He anticipated my move and kicked it further away.
“Get up!” his nostrils flared with rage. “Seeing as I can’t punish you for it, you will watch her suffer.” He pulled me up by my
clothes.
