The Alpha King’s Virgin by Charmeleon Chapter 69
Chapter 69
We left a speechless group of elders in the throne room as Amaris took my hand and led me away. I waited until we were well out of earshot before I spoke to him.
“Amaris, please tell me you’re not going to kill your brother.” I kept my voice low. There were still too many ears about. Servants were going about their duties, bobbing their heads to show their respect as we passed.
He didn’t answer. Just kept on walking.
“Amaris…”
He pushed me against the wall in the hallway, his eyes flashing red. “Why are you defending him, Raine?!” he snarled into my face. “Hasn’t he done enough damage?”
I averted my eyes before his intimidating stare and tried to keep my voice level. “I’m not defending him, Amaris. I’m worried how it will affect you.”
The servants hurriedly made themselves scarce leaving us alone in the vast hallway with only the statues and tapestries against the wall to witness our exchange.
“No more, Raine. No more. I’ve had enough of Sorin and his fucking insults and schemes.” He slammed his fist into the wall. “You shouldn’t have stopped me.”
I pulled him by his sleeve. “But think about Helen! Do you want her death on your conscience as well, Amaris and that of an unborn pup? Because she will go mad just like the Luna from the Blood Fang pack.” I wasn’t Helen’s biggest admirer, but even she deserved some mercy.
He turned on me, his face contorted, animalistic. “And what about what they did to us? You almost died together with our pup! Did they care?” I saw the pain reflected in his eyes, mirroring my own.
“We don’t have proof that they did it.” I reached for him, but he pulled away from me.
He shook his head. “I don’t need proof. I know my brother and how conniving he could be. And to think he wanted to lay his hands on you, Raine! Do you know how that makes me feel?” He was losing control,

his fists clenched so tightly I saw blood seep from between his fingers.
“Amaris, nothing happened between us. He didn’t touch me.” What Sorin wanted at that moment! could only guess, but he had me fearing for my life then. I would always be grateful to Ross for saving
- me.

“Only because Ross stopped him.” Wild–eyed, he turned to me. “Do I have to be worried about Ross?”
“By the Goddess, of course not! Amaris, you have to stop this insanity!” A fair amount of jealousy I could understand, but this was something else entirely. This was obsession and it was by no means healthy.
“Ross is your Beta and your most loyal friend! If you cannot trust him or me then who can you, Amaris?”
you.”
I threw my arms around his waist. “Please trust me, my love. There is no one else I want more than Werewolves were naturally possessive of their mates, as they should be, but I was not about to let him destroy his relationship with Ross.
I felt him tremble against me. Slowly his arms crept around my back, folding me closer. His breathing slowed while he inhaled my scent. We stood there in the middle of the hallway, oblivious to our surroundings, needing only each other.
Later we lay in each other’s embrace watching the last rays of sunlight filter through the drawn curtains turning dust specks to gold. I traced the shape of his pecs down to the ridges of his abs, admiring his sculpted body. He was beautifully created, and he was mine. My Alpha King.
“Like what you see?” his dark chuckle resounded in my ear.
“Yes, very much, my king.” I would never get enough of looking at him, touching him. Our souls craved each other, as much as our bodies desired one another.
He stopped my wandering fingers by catching my hand and bringing it to his lips. “As much as I want to take you again, my sweet Raine, we have to stop. Ross wants to see me.” He sighed against my palm. “The scent of your arousal is intoxicating. I hate to go.”
“Is it about the council?” I dreaded their veit so many thoughts ran through my mind, infinite possibilities of what could go wrong for us. He pecked a to my lips, distracting me from further

questions.
Amaris got up and dressed leisurely, watching me watch him, a lopsided smirk playing on his lips. “Don’t go anywhere. I won’t be long.”
“Will you tell me what you talked about when you come back? You promised you won’t keep anything from me, Amaris.” I didn’t want to control him, I wanted him to trust that I would be strong enough to handle whatever bad news was thrown at us. Hopefully he will get that.
“Of course.” he said without looking at me. He left.
Sighing I fell back against the satin pillows. Amaris, being dominant wouldn’t take kindly to me trying to be his equal. I understood that, and being an Omega it was in my nature to be submissive. But I felt
I different. I had this new power surging through my body leaving me on edge and I didn’t quite know how to deal with it: I had to speak to Johanna.
Amaris didn’t want to talk about it. Whenever I tried to bring up the subject, he would start to me, and my brain turned to mush. I think it scared him if he could be scared by anything. And he was proud. And stubborn. He wouldn’t admit it.
‘Tasha, what do you think of this power?‘ I asked my wolf who for some reason kept her thoughts to herself lately.
When she finally replied it wasn’t exactly what I wanted to hear. ‘I don’t like it, Raine. I don’t like it one bit. It scares me.”
‘Why? Are you scared I might hurt someone?‘ I had to learn to control it and who better than Joanna. Mainly because she was the only witch I knew.
‘I’m afraid it might consume you and we’d lose everything! Tasha said, tucked her tail in and slinked off to the back of my mind.
