The Alpha King’s Virgin by Charmeleon Chapter 24
Chapter 24
RAINE
“What happened out there. Amaris?” I asked the king back in our rooms. He paced the floor like a caged tiger, furning
After witnessing the row between the twins, the guests departed to their rooms ending the celebrations earlier than expected. I can’t say I was disappointed, because I’ve had more than I could take from all the stares and whisperings judging me like I was something on display.
He didn’t answer me, lost in his own dark thoughts. I reached for him, touching his arm and he swung around frowning.
“Can you at least sit down, please?”
At last his dark eyes focused on me. “Raine…”
“It’s alright. Take off your jacket. Look, it’s torn at the shoulder. Gently I helped him remove the torn and grass-stained jacket and moved him to the couch. When he sat, I stood between his legs and took his face in my hands. I liked the roughness of his stubble on my palms.
“What did he say to make you so angry, Amaris?” Hints of red blazed in his dark eyes as his wolf stayed near the surface. I hoped my touch would calm him down.
Hands on my hips he pulled me closer to place his head on my stomach. “It’s nothing. He pushed my buttons, and I lost control. I’m sorry you
had to see that.”
“I know you won’t hurt me, Amaris.” I stroked his silky hair, feeling the tension leave him.
“Will you do something for me, Raine?” “He looked up a
up at me then. There was a haunted look in his eyes that made my throat constrict
“Of course, anything you want, my king.” My voice sounded strangled.
“Good.” He smiled slightly. “After our ceremony I want us to go to the healer.”
My heart missed a beat. “Is it because… because I’m not pregnant yet? Do you think there’s something wrong with me? Am I broken?” This is it! He will reject me because I haven’t given him the one thing he wants most of all
I shivered feeling like I’ve been doused in ice water.
“No! No, by my g ods, no. You’re not broken, my sweet Raine.” Amaris lifted me onto his lap. T’m worried about your health.” He looked down at my clasped hands. “Are you afraid of the healer?”
I shook my head. “No, I am not. I will go if it pleases you, Amaris.” I blinked away tears. Please, Moon Goddess, I don’t want to lose him.
“We will go together.” Amaris said and brought my face to his. He kissed me slowly, gently at first, then deeper, with urgency. I held onto his shoulders, feeling my head spinning from the way his tongue delved into my mouth. He groaned, grasping my breast through the silk blouse, the heat of his hands spread like wildfire to my groin.
“Oh…” I moaned into his mouth. “Please…” The mark on my shoulder, his mark, glowed and burned and only his touch could quench the fire
“You drive me crazy, woman.” His dark eyes filled with heat as he ripped my blouse from over my skin leaving me breathless and my heart thudding in my ears.

My fingers dug into his scalp holding him closer, needing him with every cell in my body. I’ve never felt like this before, like I could die in his arms, and it scared me.
Later I listened to his deep, relaxed breathing lying in his arm with my head on his chest, I was tired, but sleep evaded me. A million thoughts milled through my mind. What was expected of me at the ceremony? There will be even more guests coming to witness our marriage and my

“Stop overthinking it. Just keep your focus on me tomorrow. Everything will be fine.” He traced his fingers across my lips.
“How did you..”
He chuckled, “Your heart is beating so fast against my ribs it’s hard to ignore. And your scent is full of anxiety.” He laced our fingers together, “How about we go for a run in the woods. Let our wolves run free?”
Tasha perked her ears up. “Yes, yes. She was eager to be with Rage.
“She would love to, but how He kissed me into silence.
“Shift.” He said, lifting the covers off us and within seconds Rage shook himself next to the bed, his black fur gleaming in the half moonlight.
Tasha needed no further invitation. My bones rearranged themselves, and soon Tasha jumped from the bed and touched noses with Rage. Rage went to the open window and jumped on the sill, looking over his shoulder at Tasha. He jumped and she followed. I screamed as we flew through the air to land safely onto the wall walk.
‘Scaredy-cat’ Tasha snickered at me.
‘That was dangerous. Was he trying to get us killed?
Tasha followed Rage down the narrow stairwell and a long, dark passage leading down into a tunnel Musty smells of damp and moss predominated in the passage. I heard water drip-dripping onto the stone paving as we made our way down. Rage pushed through dense overgrowth and suddenly we found our way in the woods.
Tasha yipped in excitement taking off at breakneck speed, zigzagging between the firtrees. Rage howled and gave chase, the predator in him awakened. She was fast, but he was stronger. The earth shook under his powerful paws as he chased her down. They tumbled together onto the forest floor, panting.
Tasha managed to escape his hold, being light on her feet. He growled a warning, but she went down on all fours, tail wagging, teasing him then she sprinted away. Frustrated he pelted after her. She laughed at him.
With the wind in her face she raced through the forest, glancing now and then over her shoulder to see the dark shape barreling down on her. Suddenly Rage came to a stop, lifted his head and barked a short warning. Tasha skidded to a standstill. Stones shifted under her paws, rolling away over the edge of the mountainside. Had she gone any further, she would have hurtled down into the abyss.
Sobered, she whined and crept toward him on her stomach. He let her lick his muzzle and his face, thanking him for saving our lives. He growled low, forcing her into submission before his powerful aura. She presented her backside to him, and he mounted her, I let them have their Intimate moment in privacy as I slid to the back of her mind, content that she had finally accepted her mate
