Chapter 54
Maverick's P.O.V.
"Sally?" I asked, shocked.
Why? Why is she here? Why now? Why when I was just about to rip all of Kapri's clothes off?
All the things I was going to do to her on that countertop...
Sally beamed at me. She threw herself into me, wrapping her arms around me. I just stood there frozen.
Kapri is going to flip out. This is not good at all. Sally is going to ruin my entire weekend.
"Sally," I said as I gently pushed her off of me. "What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I came to surprise you!" She said happily.
Then Sally peeked over my shoulder.
"Oh, hey Kapri," Sally said, sounding a bit disappointed.
So, she thought I would be here alone.
I turned around to look at Kapri. My heart shattered at the look on her face. After all that talk about me spending the weekend with Sally.. I told Kapri it wasn't true, but..
The look on Kapri's face says that she clearly didn't believe that anymore. With Sally just showing up like this, it makes me look like a liar. I didn't even know Sally knew where this place was. "Kap-"
"You two can have dinner together. I'm going to bed." She interrupted me to say.
""Bed? It's like 5 pm," Sally said.
"And my night has officially been ruined so," Kapri said with a sarcastically sweet expression. "You two have fun. Have the dinner that Maverick was making. Sleep in the master bedroom together. Enjoy this beautiful house. Just the two of you." Then Kapri looked at me.
"Because I'm leaving," She stated.
With that, Kapri marched down the hall to the stairs. I tried to run after her, but Sally grabbed my hand, stopping me.
"Just let her go for now. She'll calm down." She said.
I yanked my hand from Sally's grip, and glared at her.
"What the fu.ck are you doing here? How did you even know where this place was?" I asked.
"You told me roughly where it was at. It wasn't hard to pinpoint it down with.. my connections." Sally mumbled. "I thought you were coming to get away for the weekend. Alone. I wanted to surprise you."
"If you thought I was trying to get away, alone, why would you think to come?" I asked.
Sally pouted at me.
"Sally," I groaned as I ran a hand down my face. "I told you that there was nothing between us. We are just friends. I-"
"I know." Sally interrupted me. "I know, okay? I just.. care about you. You're my friend. Do you know how hard it is to watch you t*****e yourself over Kapri? You won't tell her you love her, but-" "Watch your mouth." I seethed lowly.
I looked behind me to make sure Kapri wasn't there.
"She's right upstairs. Be quiet." I ordered.
Sally clicked her tongue.
"See?" She asked. "Look at what.. being in love with someone is doing to you."
"So, you came all the way up here because what? You were afraid for me to be alone?" I asked her.
"Kinda." Sally said with a shrug.
"Well, I'm not alone. So just leave." I said.
"I can't," Sally said. "I had Daddy's driver drop me off. He left already."
"Then call him to come back." I ordered.
"Can't I just stay for one night, Mav? Please?" Sally asked, giving me a puppydog face.
"Sally.." I scolded.
Sally frowned at me.
"I'll call him." She said.
Sally pulled out her phone, and tapped on it. She put it to her ear, and waited. And waited, and waited.
I groaned when I heard the voicemail machine pick up. Sally gave me an apologetic look. She shoved her phone in her back pocket.
"Looks like I'm staying." She said.
"I'm going to call Brooke. She'll come get you." I said as I pulled out my own phone.
"Booke?" Sally asked.
"Yeah," I replied.
"Brooke isn't going to do that. She hates me." Sally stated.
I looked at Sally to see her roll her eyes.
"Brooke doesn't hate you," I said.
"Oh yes she does." Sally argued.
Fu.ck. I know that Brooke hates Sally. I didn't think that Sally knew.
Brooke most likely won't come get Sally. No way would she want to drive two hours home alone with Sally. Maybe Megan will? Maybe Trevor?
I pulled Tevor's contact up, and pressed call.
""Hello?"
""Molly?" I asked, shocked.
"Oh, hey Mav. What's up?" She asked.
"Why are you answering Trevor's phone?" I asked her.
""He's... busy right now." She said.
Busy?
""Doing what?" I asked.
"Molly's making him try on a bunch of different stuff to wear to homecoming." I heard Brooke say.
"Yeah, a whole fashion show." Megan snorted.
"You're on speaker, by the way," Molly told me.
"Gee thanks for the info," I said sarcastically.
"What's up, Mav? Having a nice trip?" Brooke asked.
"Trip?" Molly asked.
I ignored them.
"Tell Trevor that I need to talk to him." I said.
"About what?" Molly asked casually.
"I need a favor," I said.
"What kinda favor?" Megan asked.
I looked at Sally, and pulled my phone from my ear.
"I'll be right back. Make yourself at home for now." I told her.
I walked through the house until I made it to the sliding door that leads out back. I walked out and shut the door.
"Ooouu make yourself at home? Who was that? Kapri?" Megan teased.
"Why are you saying ouu like that if it was?" Molly asked.
Molly really still doesn't know anything?
"Oh, Molly, you sweet sweet girl," Megan said.
"Anyway," I said dramatically to get their attention.
"Yeah anyway, is Kapri making herself at home?" Megan asked.
"No. Well, yeah. Well... I don't know." I said awkwardly.
Silence.
"Maverick, who else is there with you?" Brooke asked.
Sh.it. She knows me too well. Now I'm going to have to tell them everything.. Damn, they're going to be pi.ssed.
"I thought that it was just you and Kapri," Megan said.
"Wait, just the two of you went?" Molly asked. "That's... odd." She said.
I swallowed the lump in my throat.
"It was just the two of us, but.." I trailed off.
"But what Maverick?" Brooke asked angrily.
"What did you do, Mav?" Megan asked disappointedly.
Fu.ck, fu.ck, fu.ck, fu.ck.
Why am I even scared for? It's just the girls. My friends. What's the worst they can do?
"Sally showed up." I muttered.
More silence.
"I'm sorry," Megan said with a laugh. "What?" She asked.
I sighed as I ran a hand through my hair.
"She just showed up okay?" I said defensively. "I didn't know. It wasn't my fault. She just... showed up here."
"And how did she know where the place was at?" Molly asked.
I can't tell them the truth. That Sally's dad has connections everywhere. Like a true mob boss.
"I mentioned it without thinking," I muttered.
"Of course you did." Brooke said sarcastically.
"Mav, what were you thinking?" Megan asked.
"I didn't think she would just show up here." I gritted out.
"And how is Kapri taking this?" Brooke asked.
"She's pi.ssed off, and says shes leaving." I said sadly.
"What's she got to be mad about? Is it because she doesn't like Sally?" Molly asked.
"Something like that," Megan said.
"Speak of the devil." Brooke said. "Kapri's calling me."
"Do not tell her you'll come to get her." I demanded.
"Oh, if Kapri needs me to come rescue her, I'm doing it." Brooke said.
"Brooke! Don't you dare-"
"She's gone." Molly said, bored.
Fu.ck!
"I'm so confused," Molly said. "Am I missing something?" She asked.
"You're missing a lot," Megan told her.
"Can the two of you let me talk to Trevor please?" I asked impatiently.
"Why?" Molly asked.
"Why?" I echoed.
"Yeah, why? Why should I let you?" She asked.
I heard Megan giggle in the background.
"I need to ask him to come get Sally." I told her.
"He can't." Molly rushed out.
Huh?
"What?" Molly said, clearly not talking to me. "You guys all act like Sally is some homewrecker. I don't want her alone in a car with Trevor for hours. Alone." She said.
"You said alone twice." Megan commented.
Wow, so she really does have feelings for Trevor. Good. I can use that actually.
"Then ride with him." I said.
"What?" Molly asked.
"No, do it!" Megan said excitedly. "You guys can be all alone, and stuff."
""Megan!" Molly scolded. "Can I really do that?" She asked.
I rolled my eyes as Megan giggled.
"Yes. You can. So go tell him." I urged.
"I have a better idea," Molly said.
"What's that?" Megan asked.
I have a feeling I'm not going to like this.
"Let's ditch homecoming. You and Brooke weren't going anyway. And all go up there for the weekend?" Molly asked excitedly.
Silence.
I thought Megan would be more excited honestly. I'm not. This is the complete opposite of what I wanted. Kapri and I were supposed to have a weekend alone. A romantic weekend. The one and only I will probably ever have with her. This is all going to sh.it.
"Uhm.. are you sure that's what you want to do?" Megan asked her.
"Well, is there room for all of us?" Molly asked.
"No-" I tried, but Brooke beat me to it.
"Yeah, there's plenty of room," she said.
"You're back." Megan said happily.
"What did Kapri say?" I asked.
"Worry about yourself Mav," Brooke replied.
"You're an a.sshole." I grumbled.
"Don't worry Mav," Brooke said. "You can be mad at me in person all you want. See ya soon."
