Chapter 24

"How many tweets are required for something to officially be called a 'twitter fight'?" Owen asked while looking down at his phone.

I didn't respond as Jason's cue hit the pool ball and he straightened. The five of us were in one of the dorm lounges playing pool together on our Saturday afternoon off. "I'd say about three or four tweets between the two parties. Why?" Emma asked from where she was leaning against the arm of one of the many black leather couches. She looked like a goddess as usual, dressed in a pair of ripped jeans and a lose army T-shirt that somehow made her hips stand out even more. "Because I think Sylvia is officially in a twitter war." Owen remarked while handing the phone to Emma so he could take his shot in the game. Finn's and Jason both raised their eyebrows at me while Finn crossed his arms. I shrugged as Emma's blue eye scanned over the smartphone screen.

"Does your wife know she married a sexist prick who doesn't want his daughters to amount to anything more than housewives?" Emma read off the phone and I groaned while looking up at the ceiling, as if to ask God 'why me?'. "Let me see that." Finn demanded before snatching the phone from Emma's hands and reading the tweets out loud.

JWilson: Women shouldn't complain when something bad happens to them because of their 'open minded' thinking. #lacrosse #stayinyourlane'.

Freemason: @JWilson If you want to talk, don't subtweet me. Rape is NEVER the victims fault.

"then John Wilson responded '@freemason -""

"John Wilson from ESPN tweeted at you?" Jason interrupted Finn. "As in the celebrity on the ESPN talk show every morning, tweeted you." His dark eyes were wide in surprise and shock.

"Yes. Now shut up and let Finn finish." Emma scolded Jason with a glare.

Finn disregarded them with a slight scoff that only I heard as he continued.

Jwilson: @freemason I don't take opinions from rapists.

Finn paused for a moment and tightened his jaw but ultimately relented once he read ahead.

Freemason: @Jwilson The courts have spoken making your 'claim' false. I don't usually take claims from bigots, though.

Jwilson:Doesn't change the fact that @freemason did it to herself. Not all men are nice guys. Women should take what they can get.

Freemason: @Jwilson Does your wife know she married a sexist prick who doesn't want his daughters to amount to anything more than housewives?

"And then he stopped responding." Finn finished off while handing the phone back to Owen, who had finished taking his turn. I watched Finn line up his cue and take a perfect shot, bringing him one move away from wining. Why am I on Owen's team again?

Thankfully, he couldn't shot for the eight ball in the same turn, buying me some time. When his figure straightened up, my eyes were still glued to him. He noticed and his green eyes met mine as a result. "What?" He asked innocently while raising an eyebrow.

"You don't have anything to say?" I asked in honest surprise while leaning over the pool table and connecting my cue with the white ball. I watched it bounce off the last solid colored ball and shoot into the left corner pocket. I stood up straight and sent Owen a 'we got this' look even though Jason might win this next turn. "You're not going to tell me how I shouldn't start fights with strangers in public?"

I moved from the table so Jason could make his move, and parked myself next to Finn. He contemplated my words before moving behind me and wrapping his arms around my waist, our cues in front of our bodies. "Nah. You were defending yourself. Besides, it was kind of hot." He replied in my ear.

"Really?" I turned my face to the side to look at Finn, who was looking back at me.

"Yeah. As long as you aren't getting into fist fights with people, I think you'll be just fine."

"Damn it. I love a good fist fight." I muttered playfully.

"You seem like the type." Finn wasted no time in responding. Ouch that hurt. Our attention turned back to Jason who was still standing by the table, blocking our view. "Did you go yet?"

Jason scoffed and moved to put his cue away leaving the table in view. Empty except for the white ball. "If you both weren't so absorbed in each other you'd realize that there's a whole other world out here."

I removed Finn's arms from around my waist and he straightened up before giving my dark haired friend a victory high five. I ignored that and spoke anyway. "When you finally land a girl, Jason, I'm never going to let you live it down. Any PDA and you won't hear the end of it until you're in your grave."

"Yeah, Yeah," Jason opened and closed his hand to mimic my mouth. "Keep talking out of your ass."

"Come on, man. You're probably going to be in another relationship before you die." Owen remarked while taking my pool cue to put it away with his.

"Leave the poor guy alone. If he doesn't want a relationship right now then that's that." Emma interrupted, looking up from her phone. She wasn't much of a billiards player so she sat this game out.

I raised an eyebrow at Emm and joined her on the leather couch. "What about you? Any boys chasing after you?"

"I wouldn't know. I've never had a boyfriend." She replied with a slight blush on her pale skin. For someone from Alabama, she lacked even a slight tan. That was someone I could identify with; tanning was impossible for me too. "What about a girlfriend?" Owen asked while sitting in a leather chair and kicking his feet up on the coffee table like it was his own.

Emma flushed an even deeper tone of red. "No. I'm not into girls." She answered confidently. I didn't surprise me that she had never been in a relationship if I'm being honest. She seemed so shy and innocent. Like everything was new to her. It wasn't a bad thing, just different. Although that fact seemed slightly odd to me at the same time because Emma was a bonafide beauty. She probably broke hearts just walking down the street. "What about you Owen? Any special girl?" Owen shrugged. "Nah. Besides, relationships this young never really last. I think it's pointless to be honest."

My jaw dropped in offense and Finn hit him upside the head. "Really? You're going to say that now? You know we have ears right?" I asked the dumbfounded boy as he rubbed his head where he had been struck by my boyfriend. "What? I wasn't talking about you guys. That went without saying. You're like attached at the hip."

"That did not go without saying." I scoffed and crossed my arms while leaning into the back of the couch.

"I'm with Owen on this one," Jason countered from his seat across from me, next to Finn. "There's always that one annoyingly cute couple from high school that makes it and gets married and lives happily ever after. Every high school has one. I'd bet my career that it's going to be you two fools."

"You guys have similar interests and goals too. Plus, you've already been through a lot so that forms a bond. In all honesty, I've never seen you two fight. I'd almost believe that you've never even had an argument." Emma added. I snorted when she started talking about arguments and Finn tried to suppress his idiot smile. "What?" Emma asked when she saw our amused faces.

"Nothing, it's just you think we've never had explosive fights." I burst out laughing.

"My God. You should have seen us when we met." Finn added with a smirk on his pink lips. "Actually, lets calm Sam. He'll tell you how much we loathed each other." He produced his phone from his front shorts pocket and dialed up our blonde friend, putting the cellphone on speaker. It rang for a few moments before Sam answered.

"If you're screwing Sylvia again then I'm going to hang up and save myself the blue balls." Sam said out of the gate. As an instinctual reaction, my head dropped into my palms and I let out a groan of frustration while Owen laughed, not knowing how serious Sam was or why he was saying that.

"First of all, my girlfriend isn't supposed to give you a boner. Second of all, gross. Just gross." Finn pointed out. "That's not why I called. On a scale of one to ten, how much would you say Sylvia and I hated each other at first?" I reluctantly lifted my head from my hands, my cheeks still slightly heated. It took a lot to get me embarrassed but that was defiantly one of those moments. The look Jason gave me, told me that he knew Sam wasn't making the situation up. "For real? Is this for Jason? You don't even understand. At lunch they sat on opposite ends of the table just to glare at each other. In practice they would get themselves in trouble just to take the other one down with them. This one time, they got into a fist fight in the cafeteria. Well, Sylvia got into a fist fight." Sam reminisced over the time where I hit Finn but he wouldn't hit me back. I rolled my eyes at the memory but Finn's lips turned up slightly. "I'm not even kidding, there was a staff pool going around to guess when they would get into their next fight."

"Are we talking about the same two people?" Emma asked suspiciously. "I don't think I've ever seen them even disagree on anything, let alone get into a screaming match."

"Hell, yeah. When they went to Olympic trials, our Coach had us say a legitimate prayer in the middle of practice so they wouldn't return home in body bags from having to spend a week together non stop."

"Wait what?" Finn's surprised face and furrowed brows mirrored mine. We hadn't heard that story yet.

"Yeah. It was a weirds practice. But that's besides the point. When they started getting along, our Calculus teacher pulled me out of class to ask if they were in an abusive relationship. Apparently the staff feared for them." Sam laughed through the speakers of Finn's phone. I remember that like it was yesterday. Our guidance counselor had started to eye the two of us in the hallways when she thought we weren't looking. I guess some teachers realized that the pool was probably a bad thing and that we shouldn't be left un-supervised.

Finn and I made fun of them behind their backs and that made up for it. Although, I suppose they were just doing their jobs.

"As crazy as it sounds, I can't even picture you guys getting in a fight. It just seems so out of character." Jason commented while crossing his arms on his knees.

"When they started dating I thought it was a practical joke, it was so out of character. It was nice talking to you guys but I got to scram. I got practice. I'll call you later, Finn." With that Sam hung up. He didn't think it was a practical joke, he thought we were like enemies with benefits. I'm glad he didn't say that out loud though.

"I guess that makes sense. Both your egos are bigger than any normal persons should be." Owen pointed out. He then sent me a look with a raised eyebrow. "What did he mean by saving himself the blue balls?" Great. I'm never going to live this down.
