Chapter 696 In A Mess
"I don't think so. You are finally with each other again. Well, I wish you and Daisy happiness!" said Nancy sincerely.
"How about the four of us hold our weddings together? Isn't that wonderful?" Joseph suggested.
"No, thanks. I'm still busy now, and Charles is even busier. Anyway, I have to go. Bye." Hearing the mention of her marriage with Charles made her scalp tingle. The two of them were not really in good terms now, so it would be strange to talk about their marriage. Nancy wasn't even sure how far they would go.
For some reason, Nancy's mind was in a mess after she hung up the phone.
"Done?" Charles asked.
"It's settled." It was all Nancy's reply. She didn't say anything about Joseph's suggestion.
"Joseph is so annoying. Why are your words more effective than mine?"
"What I said didn't really work at all. It just happened that Daisy helped me. Besides, she agreed to Joseph's proposal, so he was in a good mood. It seems that the two of them will hold a wedding in the near future." Looking at Charles' crumpled face, Nancy had no choice but to tell what really happened.
"I want to hold a wedding too!" As expected, when Charles heard the word "wedding," his eyes lit up.
"Yes, I want it too." Excitement spread across Bobby's face.
"I also want it!" Nadia echoed.
"You two are still too young. What are you thinking?" With her eyebrows raised, Nancy scolded the children.
"No, Mommy. What Nadia and I mean is that we want you and Daddy to get married. We're not saying we want to get married," Bobby said.
"You two, stop talking about it. Marriage is not as simple as you think it is." After saying that, Nancy stood up and walked towards the door to the operating room.
This issue was too annoying for her, so she wanted to escape.
On the other hand, Charles gave the two kids a high five. "From now on, you two have to stand on my side. We have to keep an eye on your mommy, so she won't be stolen away by some bad guy." "Is Daddy a good man?" Nadia asked.
"Why do you even have to ask? Of course Daddy is a good man. There is no doubt about that. Can't you see that?"
'Tm not blind. I can see that. But we also saw Daddy and Mommy quarreling a lot. We don't want anything unpleasant to happen again in the future. Daddy, you need to work harder to please Mommy. You have to assure us that nothing's going to happen. Especially with Brandy. I don't want you to be with her anymore..."
"It's just a misunderstanding. A misunderstanding! How many times do I have to say it to make you believe me?" It seemed like no matter what Charles said, they still wouldn't believe him.
"It doesn't matter whether we believe it or not. You have to make Mommy believe you," Bobby said.
"Okay, I'll listen to you." At this moment, Charles knew it was best to compromise.
It was then that the door of the operating room finally opened.
Nancy walked towards the doctor and asked, "How's it going, doctor?"
"The operation was a success. Don't worry." The doctor gave her a reassuring smile.
Nancy expressed her gratitude and followed the nurses to the ward.
For the whole day, Charles and the kids stayed in the ward.
None of them wanted to leave, but when the evening came, Nancy asked Charles to take the kids home.
There were a lot of viruses in the hospital, so it was not safe for the children to stay here. Moreover, Jade's condition was not that serious, so Nancy could handle it alone.
The next few days had been hectic for Nancy, and she barely had time to go out.
Once in a while, Charles would pay her a visit, just like the day he told her that Fannie had returned home.
Of course, Nancy knew it, because Jill would still be bugging her by now if Fannie was still in jail.
Everything else seemed to get better, but her relationship with Charles didn't improve. She was too busy to think about it, though.
On this day, Erin gave her a call to say that there was a patient who insisted on being treated by her. Before she agreed, she made sure that Jade was okay first.
When Nancy arrived, she found that the child was not seriously ill. He only had a pain in his ankle which was caused by synovitis, and there was no need for him to have an operation for the time being.
It was only after she explained everything that the patient's family finally breathed out a sigh of relief.
After prescribing the child some medicine and antiinflammatory drugs to relax the muscles and promote blood circulation, Nancy went back to her office to rest for a short while.
While she was pouring herself a glass of water, Nana's face flashed on her mind, so she decided to check on her.
If she was not mistaken, Nana should be fine within this week.
It was Nancy had been waiting for.
Because as soon as Nana recovered, the club's case would be solved.
When Nancy was lost in her thoughts, her phone rang.
When she saw that it was from Rick, she pressed the answer button. "Nancy, are you available today?" Rick asked.
"Why? What can I do for you?" asked Nancy.
"I'm opening my clinic today. If you have nothing to do, come and grace me with your presence." A small smile appeared on Rick's face.
"Sure. Send me the address. Congratulations! I'm excited for you."
"Thank you. I'll give you the address now. I'll be expecting you." Nancy took note of the address that Rick dictated.
"Okay, I'll be right there." It was not easy to open up a clinic, and Rick had helped Nancy a lot, so she wanted to show her support.
After ending the call, she went to see Nana and then said goodbye to the director.
Her eyes widened in surprise when she saw the clinic Rick was talking about. She thought he was running a small clinic, but it turned out that it was a large-scale hospital.
In short, he had purchased a hospital that had been suspended because of its bad management. After a slight transformation, it became a psychiatric hospital.
"Rick, you are awesome!" Indeed, Nancy was amazed of Rick had done.
"Really? I don't think so. Let's go and have a look around," Rick smiled.
"Aren't you going to entertain others? You must be very busy today." Nancy raised her eyebrows at him.
"You're here. Everything else is just a trifle."
"You mean it's more important to keep me company? Oh, I'm flattered." Based on the congratulatory flower baskets, Nancy figured that he had plenty of guests today.
"The ceremony had already been held before you came. You know, I don't care about the ceremony. Let me show you around. Do you think this place suitable for Nana?" Rick stopped and looked at Nancy seriously. "This hospital is made for cases like hers, and we have professional medical staff here who could take care of her well. Do you want to transfer her here?"
"Rick, I know what you mean. But Nana's situation is very special now. She is protected by the police and can't leave the hospital without permission. Besides, if she comes here, it may have a bad impact on your hospital. I think it's better for her to stay in the municipal hospital. Don't bother. Your career is just starting, and there are a lot of things to deal with. I wish you good luck!"
"Thank you. Hey, I just realized that you are becoming more and more talkative, Nancy." Rick forced a smile.
"What?" Embarrassed, Nancy touched her hair. "I just feel sorry for you. If it weren't for me, you would still be working in that hospital..."
Before she could finish her words, Rick interrupted her. "My career has gone to a higher level. I have my own hospital now. Aren't you happy for me?"
