Sweet Subterfuge

Chapter 726

Chapter 726
Kevan replied calmly. “Yes, I’m on a business trip.”
“This late?” Larissa checked the clock on her phone again, It was indeed 1 am in Caldor.
People of Kevan’s status didn’t need to consider costs on their business trips. It was impossible for Kevan to take a red-eye light
to save money. Moreover, he was sitting in a regular waiting area at the departure hall, not in a VIP lounge that befitted his
status.
All these details seemed strange.
“The weather over there is bad, so planes are unable to take off.” Kevan smiled helplessly and changed the subject. “Do you
need something from me?”
“Not me. Aster.” Larissa pointed the camera at Aster.
Seeing Kevan, Aster finally stopped crying. He wiped his face with the back of his hand and sniffled hard.
Kevan’s expression changed immediately. “What’s wrong? Who hurt you?” he asked anxiously.
Shaking his head, Aster tried to catch his breath and stammered, “No No one hurt me.”
He was a pitiable sight. His eyes and nose were completely red
With a serious look on his face. Kevan asked gently. “Then, why are you crying?”
“Freddy said I don’t have a dad!” Facing Kevan, Aster finally blurted out his grievances
Hearing his words, everyone’s expression darkened. A hint of anger appeared in Kevan’s eyes as he pressed his lips into a thin
line.
Before Kevan could say anything. Wendy, who was standing silently beside Larissa, exploded in fury. “Freddy? Is he your
superior’s son? Tell me his address, I will go and teach him a lesson right now!”
Larissa didn’t speak but she gave Wendy a meaningful look, gesturing for her to stay out of trouble.
However, Wendy misunderstood her intention. “You’ve already quit your job, are you still afraid that he will give you a hard time?
That child is obviously bullying Aster. How could you stay so calm?”
Wendy’s quick temper often put Larissa in a tight spot. The scene right now was a good example.
“Aster, have a good talk with Daddy. Mommy and Godma will go out and have a meal” Larissa said. She grabbed Wendy’s arm
and dragged her into the living room.
After closing Aster’s door, Larissa said to Wendy in a low tone, “Freddy didn’t mean it. Allen has already asked him to apologize
to me and Aster. We’ve already dealt with the situation, but Aster’s still riled up. I know you’re angry, but you shouldn’t mention
those things in front
of Kewan,”
Wendy’s fiery temper manifested in words. She bombarded people with insults so that they were unable to retaliate.

Kevan was the opposite. When he was angered, he wouldn’t express his emotions through words. Anyone who provoked him
would meet with a miserable end, like the employee who worked at the hospital morgue.
Although Larissa blamed Allen and Freddy for Aster’s outburst, she didn’t want Kevan to take any drastic actions against them. It
would be
too severe.
“Why can’t I say it in front of Mr. Rogers? Even if he decides to deal with them, they deserve it! That little brat should be taught a
lesson for not controlling his tongue! Wendy felt indignant.
“Alright, stop calling him a little brat all the time, or Aster might start picking up on that term!” Larissa’s brows furrowed. “Aster will
feel better after taking to Kevan, don’t worry about him.”
Glaring at her, Wendy said, “I’m not as nonchalant as you!
