Chapter Twenty five.
We sat in silence until Rose spoke,
" Spirit." She said and the Elders nodded.
" But spirit was just a rumour." Mr T said but the Elders shook their heads.
" No Travis, spirit is real." Elder Nimah said.
" There were originally 5 elements. Water, Fire, Earth, Air…and Spirit." Elder Yvonne explained.
" But spirit was a rare element. 1 out of a 100 people had spirit. It was hard to determine who would get it. Because it chose those who would have it." Elder Horace said.
" But it was a wonderful element. The people who possessed it could walk in dreams, heal, see auras, charm." Elder Moira said smiling sadly.
" But it came with a price."
" Their sanity. Due to the unique powers they possessed, they couldn't keep their sanity for long. They saw things other elementist couldn't see. And with time, the element faded away." Elder Eamon continued.
" When we met Iris, we thought maybe she would possess the element. After all she is the Elysian. But she showed no signs of it. Until now." Elder Nimah sighed
" What did she do to the necklace she gave Jenny?" I asked.
" She charmed it. Spirit users have powers similar to magicians. They can charm temporarily. But only if the object is silver."
" Hence the silver necklace." Rose said and they nodded.
" Just like with magic, using too much spirit wears her out. And could possibly kill her." Elder Emlyn said.
" What she did by healing Bryan was very risky-"
" How?" Bryan asked cutting in.
" You could have been bound to her. She healed you by bringing you back to the land of the living. You were in limbo. The space between the living world and the land of the dead." Elder Moira said and Bryan gulped.
" Your life force could have be tied to hers."
" So the darkness is her insanity?" Seb asked and they nodded.
" But isn't there away to stop it?" I asked.
" There is a way but it is not an option." Elder Horace replied.
" Why?"
" The only way would to stop it is to give her a daily dose of wolfsbane. But it will not only suppress spirit, but it will also suppress her other abilities." Rose explained.
" And that is something very risky for the Elysian." Emily breathed out.
" Can't you get her to stop using it?" Bryan asked and Elder Eamon huffed.
" Like she'll listen to us."

Iris's POV.
After training the following day, Seb told me the dreaded phrase.
We need to talk.
We sat on the beach in the arena and I accidentally slipped into his head. I was still having a hard time controlling my spirit powers.
' What am I going to say?', ' How will she react?!', ' Will she be okay?', ' I hope she still wants to remain friends.'
I slipped out and sighed.
" You want to break up don't you?" I asked and he sighed.
" Iris-"
" No Seb, it's okay. Just tell me the truth."
" Yes." He said quietly.
" It's okay. It was my fault. I wasn't a good girlfriend."
" Iris don't say that."
" It's the truth. I was always too busy and I was closed off."
" You're not that bad." He said bumping his shoulder into mine and I laughed.
" I know. I was way worse." I said and we both chuckled.
" You're really not that bad. You're a good person with a good heart."
" Yeah. Somewhere faraway in a sea of darkness lie a cage and inside lies a small, no, tiny heart."
" You've been through a lot Iris. It's understandable." He said and I sighed.
" Can we still be friends I might need someone to talk to-"
" Of course Iris. I'll always be here for you."
" You won't make it akward during training will you?" I asked jokingly and he laughed.
" Of course not."
" So…who's the lucky lady?"
" There is no lucky lady."
" Tsk tsk tsk. Don't lie to me Seb or else I'll cast a truth spell on you."
" And I heard Shirley just made a batch of her almond cookies and I'm sure she might want your opinion on them."
" You wouldn't." He said narrowing his eyes at me.
" Try me." I replied smirking.
" Evie. But I swear I wasn't cheati-"
" I know. You're too much of a gentleman to do so. I'm happy for you."
" Thanks. I'm sure you'll find someone too."
" It's not going to be anytime soon."
" We'll see about that." He said winking before walking off.
***
Cole's POV.
" Cole!" Seb called as he walked up to me.
I adjusted the strap of my backpack as he approached me.
" Hey!, What's up?"
" I'm sorry." He said.
" For what?" I asked confused.
" For dating Iris."
" Why would you apologize to me it's not like she and I were dating-"
" I know she's your mate." He said and I froze.
" How did you know?"
" I have my ways." He replied smirking.
" We've broken up."
I won't lie, I was a little happy when he said that.
" I'm sorry man."
" Don't be. It was kind of mutual. We're still going to be friends. But you have to tell her."
" I can't."
" Why not?"
" I don't want to scare her away."
" If you keep hesitating, someone else will steal her away from you. Tell her before it's too late." He said and and he walked off.
***
" Did you hear?, Iris and Seb broke up."
" Yeah I heard he cheated on her with Evie."
" No way, Evie's too scared of Iris to try and steal her boyfriend."
" I heard Iris is secretly dating Cole. Why does she get all the hot guys?"
" She's such a player. I mean Seb, Cole. Who's next Bryan? She acts like she the queen of everyone but we're so much better than her."
I slammed my fist on my locker and the girls jumped back. I glared at the girl that insulted Iris and she gulped.
" Iris doesn't have time to play boys when she's busy saving your asses. And she acts like a queen because she is one. She is way better than the 3 of you combined. And next time, if you want to gossip, at least get your facts right."
I stormed off and Rose fell in step beside me.
" You've heard?"
" I was the first person to know."
" How?"
" Seb. He came to apologize. He somehow found out that Iris is my mate. Bryan and his big mouth."
" Actually, I told him."
" Why?!"
" It slipped. I'm sorry!"
We entered the arena, changed and joined the other warriors on the line.
Iris walked in and looked at us.
" Training is cancelled."
" Wait what?!" Rose said.
" You heard me. Training is cancelled."
" Why is it because you and-" I nudged Bryan before he could say something stupid.
" I have to train."
" But so do we." Lance said and we nodded in agreement.
" We're the 24 warriors. Training everyday is kind of our thing." Rose said and Iris rolled her eyes.
" You're not the 24 warriors. You are my fighters therefore you are the Guardians of the Dragon's Heart."
" The what now?, Guardians?, Really? We sound like the security outside a Samsung store." Bryan said and I looked at him in disbelief.
" You know Samsung Galaxy. So the security are the Guardians of the Galaxy." He explained and I face palmed.
" The 24 warrior challenge is a challenge. There were warriors before you. Now leave!"
" No." I said as we stood our ground.
" Fine. Suit yourself." She said and she flew up.
