Chapter FIFTEEN
Hannah sat in the quiet darkness of her tent. Peter sat beside her, holding her hand soothingly.
The past few hours had been an overwhelming swarm of activity as everyone around them threw everything at her at once.
She was caught up in the rebellion and the journey they were about to embark on to find the Iron Arrow. She and Peter had a tearful reunion with Ruben and Laura.
She was told Mary had been killed shortly after she and Peter had gone through the portal. The news had crushed her completely and she’d spent the next few hours sobbing until there were no more tears left. Peter sat beside her the whole time, holding her.
The death of her aunt was an overwhelming darkness she didn’t think she could get out of. She kept picturing her aunt’s face. She recalled the first time they’d seen each other in the Eternal World. She thought of how she got angry and yelled at her when she should’ve embraced her and told her she loved her. She should’ve spent every second of her free time with her. She should’ve thanked her aunt at least one time for everything she’d done for her. She should’ve told her she loved her more. She should’ve been a better niece. She should’ve done everything differently. The one person in her family who understood and accepted her was gone. The past few years, she’d wondered what happened to her aunt though was terrified to know the truth. She knew, deep down, that she was probably never going to see her aunt again and she was right.
Everyone had tried to comfort her when she was given the news but she’d only wanted Peter to be around her and needed to be alone. She needed quiet.
After the tears were gone, she was filled with cold rage. She wanted to avenge her aunt’s death and from that point on she was going to stop Kane Moonblood and his army at all costs. She wouldn’t let anyone else she cared about perish.
“Come on,” she said and stood up.
His brows rose in surprise. “Come on where?”
“We need to help the others.”
“Are you sure? You’ve -”
“We can’t waste any time. We need to act now.”
She stormed out and he followed her.
