Spell Bound

Chapter Two

Arabella

The wind blows through my hair as I stand on the deck of the boat. I tighten my hands around the rails out of frustration.

There is nothing I hate more than traveling by boat.

It is the only option that I have since being exile by my coven there has been a bounty on my head.

If any witch from any coven were to see me they would gladly alert my coven of my whereabouts and the stronger witches would potentially attack me and take me to my ex-coven themselves.

Therefore I need to keep a low profile while traveling, so traveling by boat is my safest option.

The only people who travel by boat, are those who do not want anyone to know what they are up to. As long as you don't bother them they will not bother you.

I breath in the salty air of the ocean.

This is all a means to a very happy ending for me.

At first I was fine living in exile, I didn't mind much. My friend Valentina was soon thrown out of our coven as well, and joined me.

The only problem was the public execution of my grandmother after they found out that she was the one who helped me hide who I really was.

A siphon witch.

They killed her in the most disrespectful way.

The same way our ancestors were killed, by tying them up and throwing them into a body of water.

My mother, her daughter was the one to tie the rope.

My knuckles turn white from how hard I am gripping the railing.

I can't help but think of my grandmother fighting for air every time I see a large body of water.

Her final moments were probably so terrifying. Especially since it was her own daughter who sealed her fate.

That is the reason why I am on this shitty boat. That is the reason why I need revenge. That is the reason why I am going to kill each and every person apart of my ex-coven.

"Arabella did you find what you need?"

I close the door to our cabin before answering Valentina's question.

I turn to Valentina, my friend who joined me after the coven exiled her as well.

"Yes, and then some." I replied.

She raised her eyebrow at me, "Well don't keep me waiting what did you find!"

Her enthusiasm was enough to make me let out a little laugh. Even though she was against my plan to eviscerate my entire coven she was still intrigued by the power that was promised from my journey.

"It took me three days of searching the island to find the library, I always knew it was real but the stories do not do it justice whatsoever. There was tables full of dark objects, shelves full of books and so many other things. I just didn't have the time to take it all in. I could only carry so much without looking suspicious."

Valentina grimaced as I mentioned dark objects, but I didn't pay it any mind. The witches preaching on remaining pure will always stick with her. It never did with me, but that is because I knew that I was one of the impure things that they were speaking on.

"Did you find the book?" She asked, her enthusiasm for a book that is full of things that she is disgusted by would be hilarious if I didn't know the millions of questions that she was eager to ask.

I can't help the smirk that slides onto my face, "Yes, I did. It tells me exactly what I need to do in order to do what I want to do."

"Are you gonna tell me?" She asks.

"Do you really want to know?" I ask back.

She nods.

I know that she is going to flip when I tell her what my plan is, but the sooner she knows it the sooner she can get over it and help me in the areas that I lack.

"There was a story of how the coven of siphon witch's took down a basilisk with the help of their leaders. After the took the basilisk's blood they had enough power to wipe up a town that had killed their brothers and their sisters."

Valentina cringed, "Drinking a basilisk's blood? That is nasty please tell me you would not do that."

"I wouldn't be able to do it even if I wanted to. They are extinct." I absolutely would do it. I would do anything to get what I want.

"Right, so how does that help you do what you want?"

"Basically If I take blood from something or someone that has a strong presence of magic within them I will become stronger until their blood leaves my body."

"I'm confused. I am assuming that you're gonna take my blood, but I am not all that powerful."

I can feel the freakout coming.

"I never had any intentions of taking your blood, I know how you feel about that kind of magic. I would never have you do something that you are uncomfortable with. That is why I decided to pursue someone else to help me with my revenge."

Her eyes narrowed on me. I know that she probably is suspicious about my plans and I can't blame her. When I tell her exactly what my plan entails I know that she won't like it.

"Who is this person that you plan to pursue? Will they do this willingly?"

"I am torn between two people Alpha Atlas of the South Pack and Alpha Lucian of the North pack."

Her eyes widened. "No! You're lying!" She screamed at me.

I leaned my shoulder against the door attempting to ignore her outburst. "At first I thought about Alpha Archer you know? Because he is the closest alpha besides the minor pack alphas, but then I thought about what he did to that one coven a few years ago. I need to stay far away from him." I paused during my words to let out a sigh. "I don't want a minor pack alpha though I need someone that will give me enough power to push me over the edge and help me get rid of that coven once and for all. You know what Alpha Lucian it is"

I would have continued my rambling in an effort to distract her, but the glare she just gave me was too hard to ignore.

"Arabella this is reckless. I know you need magic but this?" She threw her hands in the air before carelessly throwing them down against her thighs. "This will get you killed!"

"Please calm down Val, don't you see I'm doing this for us? First they shamed me for who I am then they do exactly what they shamed me for to gain the upper hand against their enemies. If It wasn't for me they wouldn't even know anything!"

Valentina gripped the ends of her hair before tugging them a bit, a nasty habit that she has picked up over the years from me stressing her out.

"At least let me go with you."

"No, it's too dangerous for you, but believe in me please. I will get the revenge that I need."

I start walking to the kitchen, but I should have known that this conversation is far from over.

I hear her footsteps behind me as I begin to grab items that are needed to make a healing potion.

As confident as I am in my ability to take down one of these alpha's I am not delusional enough to think that I won't get hurt in the process.

I pull one of our larger pots from under the sink, and began to start making the potion.

I was never really good at making potions, so I never memorized the names of the herbs. I just memorized the way that they looked.

"Arabella please! There's so many other ways that we can get revenge." She begins to try and pull me away from the stove.

I plant my feet into the ground, using my weight to stop her from pulling me around. "I promise I will be safe. He's just an alpha it's not like I'm going after the Alpha King. Now that would be reckless."

She let out a sigh, she knows me well enough that once my mind is made up there is no changing it.

"Well at least give me the spoon, you know that I am better at than you at making elixirs."

I quickly step out of my friend's way, there were few people apart of our ex-coven who were better than her when it came to this side of witchcraft. Knowing that she was the one making them only boosted my confidence some more. I am sure that even if I was on my death bed a few sips of a healing potion made by her would have me as good as new.

"You won't have to worry, Alpha Lucian is known for his even temper, I'm surprised there is a wolf that doesn't fly off the handle about the smallest thing."

"You're playing with fire and you know it!"

"It's a good thing that if I get burned someone is making a nice healing elixir for me." I state as I walk out of the room.

As dangerous as this is for me, I would be a fool to not try.
