Spell Bound

Chapter Thirty-Eight

Arabella

“Bella, I need you to be careful while you do this. If you overexert yourself there will be consequences.” Lucian said sternly.

I rolls her eyes at him. “You sound like Valentina.” I'm surprised that he didn't bring her here. Just so they can double team me, and tell me how reckless I am.

“Her and I just worry about your safety.”

“I’ll be careful.” I concede to him. I’ve been doing a lot of that lately.

Damn these feelings.

He smiles at me. “Thank you Bella.” I feel my heart swell as he smiles that beautiful smile in my direction. This is why I have been conceding to him lately, because he looks at me like that.

I roll my eyes at my thoughts, I am getting pathetic.

He opens the door to Judah and Marisol’s room.

My eyes immediately go to Marisol who is asleep in the bed. I see that she still looks the same. Not better or worse just the same.

Different people stand near the bed and all of their eyes fall on me. The only people that I recognize is Benjamin, Archer and Judah.

“Well even though her body didn’t accept the magic, it seems the blood magic has stopped working through her system.” I state ignoring all of the stares.

“Can you guarantee that it will work this time?” Judah asks me.

“There’s no guarantees, but I know what I am capable of.”

It was almost as if all of the air was sucked out of the room.

It’s nice to see how much these people care for Marisol. I guess Lucian was right when it comes to his people, loyal until the end.

“Benjamin when she received magic from the moon goddess she was in a lake yes?” I ask.

He nods.

“We are not taking her off of these pack grounds.” Judah growls out.

I roll my eyes at his outburst, the last thing I need right now is an overemotional wolf hovering over his mate.

“Start a bath.” I say to Benjamin.

“You.” I point to Judah. “Out. I don’t need you breathing on my neck as I do this.”

“Arabella.” Lucian warns before Judah can react. I feel his hand close around the back of my neck, his fingers pressing down on the mark. “How would you feel if someone told you to leave me if I was in a vulnerable state?” He asks.

“I wouldn’t care.” I shrug.

His grip tightens. “The truth, Arabella.”

My cheeks flush. “I would probably first make their blood boil to get my point my point across, use a sleeping spell on them and then do what needed to be done to save you.” I rush through my words, hating them.

“Exactly.” He states before pulling me into him. “He stays.” He pressed a soft kiss on my ear.

“That’s cute and all, but did you say you can make someone’s blood boil?” One of the girls asked me.

Archer chuckles. “It seems that Artemis is still having trouble with her mate. Lucian has been able to successfully tame his.”

My entire body tenses at Archer’s statement.

“Fuck.” Lucian curses softly.

“It’s fine.” I grit out. “I am going to show Archer how tame I am, later.” I turn to Artemis. “I would love to burn your mate’s veins, make sure you tell him that Archer is to blame.”

Judah picks up Marisol’s limp body, and I walk over to pick up the moonstone. I nod in the direction of the bathroom and Judah and I begin to walk to it.

“Place her in the tub.”

I kneel by the tub after Judah maneuvers Marisol and himself in the tub.

“Bella.” Lucian states as he steps into the bathroom.

“I promise that I will be fine.”

Lucian holds his hand out to me. “I read in the spell book that a witch can channel another when doing a spell. Not just for magic, but to share the pain that comes with.”

I look up at him. “Impressive. Remind me to kill the witch who gave you that spell book.”

“Arabella.”

I sigh. “Just make physical contact with me.”

He smirks before sitting next to me. He wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me into him.

I groan as he buries his face in my hair.

Why must he insist on being so needy and affectionate in front of others?

I don’t pay attention to him and his antics, instead I reach over and grasp Marisol’s hand.

“Alright if your body won’t willingly accept the magic. I’ll have to force it.”

I close my eyes and slowly begin the spell.

I start slow, the magic slowly seeping into Marisol’s body.

Her breathing starts to get heavier and uneven, letting me know that she is slowly starting to wake up.

The current of magic flowing from the moonstone starts to slowly become faster and erratic.

My skin starts to heat up, and soon it becomes an unbearable temperature.

I try my best to ignore it, I need to focus on Marisol.

“Keep going, Bella. It’s working.” Lucian whispers in my ear.

I nod at his encouragement.

Marisol starts to thrash in Judah’s arms as a sharp pain hits my head. Judah holds onto her securely, so I don’t lose my grip on her.

I try to ignore the water that splashes on my thighs as I grip her hand tighter.

Another wave of pain rushes through my body.

“Accept the magic, Marisol.” I command to her.

She stills, and I feel just a little more magic flows into her.

I let go of her hand and immediately slump into Lucian’s arms.

“You did so good Bella. I am proud of you.” He presses chaste kisses to my shoulder.

“Arabella, are you alight?” Archer asks.

I don’t respond, I’m too focused on inhaling and exhaling air. If I don’t focus on that I fear my body might stop.

“She will be fine. My Bella is strong.” Lucian answers for me.

“Your eyes were closed, but I am sure you felt the heat. Some parts of this room were on fire.”

I groan at Archer’s words before opening my eyes.

“It didn’t damage anything so it should be fine.” I wave off his concerns.

I sit up, and my eyes finally land on Marisol.

She’s pale, and her hair is ash blonde except for a small section near her temple. The section is all brown.

She’s beautiful.

I smile at her. “She’ll be okay.” I say before I slump back into Lucian’s arms.

“Now we just have to do what needs to be done to make sure that you’re okay.” Archer responds.

Is this what family is going to be like for me? Having Lucian, Valentina and Archer hovering over me worrying about my safety?

This is going to be hell.

Lucian gathers me into his arms before standing. I bury myself in his chest.

“Thank you, Arabella.” Judah states.

I nod at him before Lucian carries me out of the room.

The two girls rush in the bathroom after Lucian, Archer and I exit. I don’t doubt that not knowing how things were going was killing them.

“I don’t know what’s happening to you, but we need to figure it out immediately.” Archer says once we step out of the room.

I sigh. “Can you please put me down now?” I ask Lucian.

He complies, but still holds me close to him.

“We need to tell Valentina about this, maybe she can help us research what may be happening.” Lucian suggests.

I groan. Yes, exactly what I need. Valentina i’m on this two so they can triple team me. “Her and I promised one another no secrets.” I step out of Lucian’s arms and turn to him. “You said that you were willing to prove your feelings to me no matter what.”

His body tenses at my statement before he nods.

“Good, because I want you to take me to my mother.”
