Chapter 1253

Chapter 1253 The Corpse Is The Key

Unable to decipher what exactly was depicted on the talisman, Alex planned to peel it off to see if the folks from Mountain of the Beasts drew it.

Since the corpse was hung quite high, Alex had to lift his foot slightly to reach the talisman. As his hand touched the talisman, Alex directly peeled it off from the back of the corpse.

No sooner had the talisman left the corpse, the body burst into many pieces, falling from above. Each piece was no larger than half the size of a palm.

And so, the corpse fell into pieces, and the ground was instantly stained with fresh blood. Even Alex, who wasn't usually scared of such things, was taken aback, retreating two steps.

The mental shock from witnessing what just happened was too intense for him. It was terrifying enough to watch someone who looked exactly like him being hanged there. However, seeing himself being divided into equally sized pieces and turning into a pool of blood upon landing on the ground was beyond horrifying.

After calming down a bit, he finally turned his gaze to the talisman. Looking at the symbols before him, he couldn't make heads or tails of them.

The only thing he could be certain of was that the clues lie with the bodies hanging at each stairwell. The person who set that all up sure was ruthless.

An ordinary person would have been scared out of their wits upon seeing their own body hanging at every stairwell entrance. Even Megan, who was already dead, was driven to the verge of a mental breakdown.

The person setting up the formation wanted those trapped inside to be too afraid to touch the bodies. That way, those people would remain trapped inside indefinitely.

And yet, Alex was an exception. Although those corpses shocked Alex, he knew he could overcome these challenges.

Having found the clue, Alex descended one floor after another. He removed the coats from each corpse hanging in the hallway, and sure enough, there were talismans behind each one.

Alex peeled off the talismans from their backs, and just like before, they turned into pieces of corpses before falling to the ground.

Having witnessed such a scene once, Alex was mentally prepared and was no longer frightened. He went all the way down to the bottom from the ninth floor, yet there were still no clues to be found. When he returned upstairs, the corpses at the stairwells were indeed gone, and the blood on the ground had also disappeared.

When he saw that, a wave of joy surged in Alex's heart. If the exit isn't below, then it's very likely to be above.

With that thought in mind, Alex quickened his pace. Without much hesitation, he had already dealt with the corpse on the fifteenth floor and was ready to ascend further.

Instead of waiting for him to dispose of them, the corpses, all thirty-two of them, stood in a row, completely blocking Alex's path.

Seeing thirty-two individuals identical to himself standing there provided a unique visual shock for Alex. If he wished to leave, he would need to deal with them.

As soon as Alex took his first two steps forward, the standing corpses that had been motionless also moved. They mirrored Alex, only taking two steps before they halted. Sensing that something was amiss, Alex waved in front of them. Mimicking his actions, the others also raised their hands and waved in front of themselves as well.

A light smile appeared on Alex's

face. So, the person setting up the formation wants to use this method to make me back down! Since they can mimic my actions, is it possible that they possess the same abilities as me? If that's the case, it'll Be

impossible for me to handle a group

of myself.

Alex attempted to strike a corpse with his palm but only used minimal force. He did that to prevent the corpse from exerting the same amount of strength as him.

Immediately, the corpses struck

their palms toward Alex. Even

though they attacked lightly, they had the advantage of numbers. As a result, Alex was sent flying several meters away by their collective

strike.

If Alex had used his full strength from the start, those corpses might've killed Alex on the spot.

In contrast to Alex, the corpses didn't mimic his retreat by a few meters. Rather, they stood firmly in a straight line, obstructing the path just as they were before.

Alex picked himself up from the ground somewhat wretchedly. The corpses aren't mimicking me. Can it be that they're no longer imitating me?

As such, he continuously approached them until he was five meters away from them. Then, they started moving again.
