Chapter 1241
Chapter 1241 Dragging Heather Down
Now that everything was exposed, Kate knew there was no way she could conceal the truth any longer, so she decided to drop the act.
Although I'm not as powerful as Alex, I'm not someone an ordinary person like Heather can easily pick on.
Kate moved swiftly and slapped Heather, sending her sprawling on the ground. Then, she looked at the latter condescendingly, her demeanor akin to a queen observing a madman.
"Who do you think you are, Heather? You're just a woman Alex abandoned. I can make you vanish if I want to. How dare you hit me? You have no right to touch me."
After Heather got slapped by Kate, she lay on the ground for a long time without regaining her senses. Moreover, her cheeks felt like something had pierced and burrowed into it. It was a strange sensation she couldn't describe.
"Kate, aren't you planning to keep up your act? Aren't you good at acting? At home, you put on the facade of a loving mother, but in reality, you are incredibly evil." Alex grabbed Kate, his eyes filled with hatred. Alex would have killed Kate if she weren't Emmalyn's biological mother. He couldn't bear anyone mistreating Stanley like this. The thought of Stanley almost dying at the hands of Kate deepened his hatred for her even more.
"Kate, since you and your child appeared, have I ever mistreated you? Why would you do such a monstrous thing to a six-year-old child?" Alex asked, his gaze fixed on Kate, his tone icy.
After Kate heard that, she scoffed. Looking at Alex with a face full of resentment, she said, "I just can't stand it when someone else's son keeps appearing in front of me."
She continued, "Ask yourself, Alex, have you spent half as much time with Emmalyn as you have with Stanley? You will never focus on Emmalyn and me as long as Stanley is around. I want your inheritance to belong only to Emmalyn in the future, so the little kid Heather gave birth to must die. Don't you understand?"
Her true colors were finally revealed. The woman standing before Alex now was the real Kate, without any pretense. The previous image of a gentle, understanding, and obedient woman was all a facade she had put on to please him.
Before, Alex thought that Kate, as Emmalyn's mother, didn't deserve to be dealt with harshly. But now, it seemed that this woman had gone mad. She even dared to practice Insect Codex, a book of witchcraft that Alex had seen before. Everything in it was twisted and evil, full of inhuman things.
"Kate, you're hopeless. Return the book you stole from my study now," Alex said.
"Return it to you? Why should I return such a precious thing to you? It's a treasure! I can become stronger than you with it. One day, I will be able to step on you with the help of this book, making everyone bow to me," Kate said, laughing boisterously, with a hint of madness in her expression.
Alex sighed helplessly. He had never seen Kate behaving like this before and thought she was naive. If she chose to practice such a dark skill for the sake of power, even if he didn't kill her today, she would be hunted down by the righteous martial artists once they found out about her cultivation of it.
"Kate, don't force me to kill you." A glint of murderous intent flashed in Alex's eyes as he looked at Kate. If she refused to hand over the book, he would indeed take action to eliminate her for the good of the people.
Kate took a few steps back. She was well aware of Alex's terrifying capability. He could kill her in a blink of an eye if he truly wanted to.
"If you dare lay a hand on me, I'll be sure Heather joins me in the afterlife. Not only will Emmalyn be left without a mother, even your beloved Stanley will lose his mother too. And all of this will be your own doing!"
