Chapter 1034 I Will Treat You Well
“Didn’t we hire a nanny? Besides, we also have an automatic washing machine. Why are you washing your clothes by hand?”
When Alex crouched down to help Stanley up, he noticed out of the corner of his eye that his clothes were also in the basin.
Stanley hugged Alex’s leg after shaking the water off his hands. However, he could not stop the tears from falling down his
cheeks.
So much had happened to him that day, from feeling aggrieved and frightened to almost being sold. When he saw that his
beloved father had returned, he immediately burst into tears.
“What’s the matter? Did someone bully you? Don’t cry, Stanley. Tell me what’s wrong. I’ll handle it for you. Or are you mad that I
broke my promise?” Alex stroked his son’s head with a pained expression on his face.
“Don’t leave from now on, Daddy. Stay with me, okay? I don’t want to stay at home by myself. I’m scared.” Stanley gave his
father a pleading look.
He did not dare to tell his father what had happened that day for fear that Kate would sell him to that place. If it came to that, his
limbs would be severed like those children, and he would be forced to beg on the streets.
However, he could not avoid Kate giving him a hard time if he stayed at home alone, so he came up with the idea of getting his
father to accompany him.
As long as Daddy is at home, Ms. Sutton will behave nicely. She won’t hit me or refuse to give me breakfast.

“I promise to stay with you when I have time in the future, Stanley, but you must also tell me what happened today. Why are you
washing the clothes?” Alex asked with furrowed brows.
All of Stanley’s subtle gestures, as well as his fearful expression, did not escape Alex’s eyes. He was sure that there was more to
the matter.
Despite his question, the little boy still kept his head down and remained silent. He kept shaking his head but would not explain
why he was washing the clothes by hand.
Alex’s frown deepened. He grabbed Stanley’s shoulder and asked in a low voice, “You can’t even trust your daddy now, Stanley?
You won’t tell me anything anymore?”
“No, that’s not it.” Stanley shook his head frantically, his tears falling. He desperately wanted to tell his father everything and let
him drive Kate away.
Finally, he clenched his fists, gave Alex an aggrieved look, and said through his tears, “Daddy, I don’t want to stay in this house
anymore. I hate-”
Before Stanley could finish speaking, the bathroom door was abruptly opened by none other than Kate.
“I’m so sorry, Stanley. It’s all my fault. I’ve just taught Winona a lesson. This kind of thing won’t happen again.
Kate approached Stanley and drew him into her arms, looking like a loving mother who felt sorry for her
son.

After letting out a sigh, she faced Alex with a remorseful look. “I’m sorry, Alex. I hired a random nanny without checking her
character. I looked after Emma during the day and neglected Stanley. I can’t believe
Winona would let Stanley do all the tough and tedious work so that she could slack off. I went downstairs after Emma had fallen
asleep just now and found Winona sitting on the couch watching TV. When I questioned her about the laundry, I realized
something was wrong when she stuttered and couldn’t speak. Now I finally realize that she got Stanley to do the laundry so that
she could slack off. I’m sorry, Alex. I’ll fire her right away, and I won’t allow something like this to happen again.”
Alex looked her in the eyes. Even though he felt that she did not appear to be lying when she said those words, he was still
skeptical. “Is Ms. Sutton speaking the truth?” he asked Stanley.
The little boy’s head was bowed the whole time. He was so terrified while in Kate’s arms that he was oblivious to Alex’s question.
Kate was a little anxious at Stanley’s lack of response, so she patted him on the shoulder and said, “Stanley, this matter is
entirely my fault. I’ve just fired Winona. You won’t be mad at me, right?”
“I... I won’t!” Stanley answered softly, keeping his head low.
“Good boy, Stanley. I will treat you well from now on, Kate said with a loving gaze as she caressed his head affectionately.
