Chapter His decision
Lily's POV:
Siergo was sipping his tea, he is half-Italian and I could tell that he is so calm and cold by nature. Unlike most Italians, he does not get angry that quickly, on the opposite, his black curls sliding on his eyebrows gave him a gentle look.
"You are here, Lily," he started.
"Yeah, we needed to talk," I was speaking in a bit of an angry tone.
"You sure hold grudges, Lily,"
"You shouldn't have talked this way yesterday, Shawn has nothing to do with his father's schemes, I don't want to drag him into this," I clarified.
"Is that what you think?"
"Yes, I am telling you this is between me, you, and Gerald alone," I repeated.
"Are you telling me you didn't even mention what Gerald did to you to Shawn?"
"No,"
"Why?" he asked.
"As I said I do not wish to trouble him, he lost his mother; I know how it feels when you fight with your own father. Not a pleasant feeling, I do not want Shawn to feel this way..."
"I do not need you to worry about me, Lily," A voice arose from behind my back.
Damn, why does this always happen to me? I will carry a mirror with me from now on so that I would watch over my back.
"When would you stop showing up like that?" I questioned as I understood what was happening, Siergo spotted Shawn standing there but still asked those questions.
Is he perhaps trying to tell him about what happened? Why does he want to drag him into this?
"I will respond to what you have said earlier, Lily. I need Shawn, he is the trump card of my plan and his help is not only needed but it is quite crucial," Siergo explained as he pulled the seat next to me motioning for Shawn to take a seat.
"Okay, I do not seem to understand what is happening? Did you invite him here?"
"No, you didn't want me to come?" Shawn replied.
"I didn't say that, I am just surprised that you showed up like that,"
Shawn ignored my comment; he is really getting on my nerves. He turned his head facing Siergo and started speaking.
"Why would you trust me?" Shawn began.
"Because I do not have any other choice. No one can take down your father but you,"
"Let me hear your plan," Shawn ordered.
"I have already gathered some bank transactions that your father made to several accounts abroad in shell corporations overseas. In addition to misreporting and underreporting income, that is how he avoids paying taxes by tax evasion..."
"That is all you got? Some paperwork?"
Siergo smiled as he let out a recording from his pocket.
"Do not feel perplexed, I keep it with me all the time, do you know what is that?"
"How would I?"
"This record goes back to 15 years ago, the exact date is..."
"April 10th..."
Siergo was surprised upon hearing Shawn's confident statement.
"You already know?"
"Yes, the driver isn't the only one who recorded this conversation, I did too," Shawn clarified.
"You were in the car?" Siergo wondered.
"No, I left my mobile there recording,"
"What are you guys talking about? Someone explain to me..." I cut them off.
"Remember when I said that I blame dad for my mother's death?"
"Yes," I responded to Shawn's question.
"I meant it literally, he is the main reason why mom had to die," Shawn continued.
"Do I understand from that, that you are willing to help?"
"I will but in my own way, I will not participate in your plan but I will need your help later, you will be the one to do all the legal and paperwork for me," Shawn explained.
"What are you planning?" Siergo added.
"I will prove my suspicion first then contact you,"
"Is your suspicion perhaps..."
"Indigo's murder..." I interrupted Siergo as I addressed Shawn with my statement.
Shawn stared my way; he did not know what to say.
"This is just a suspicion," Shawn assured me.
"It is okay, it does not affect me anyhow," I confirmed.
I turned my gaze elsewhere but Shawn was still looking in my direction, I felt my body temperature rise, my blood was boiling. I do not feel sad; I am just enraged that Gerald keeps proving how ugly of a person he is towards my family.
"Let us talk again when I put my hands on some more facts," Shawn said addressing Siergo who stood up to shake his hand.
We took our leave right afterward, I was thinking when suddenly Shawn pulled me towards him abruptly; I was about to bump into someone who was passing by my side. "Thanks," I whispered.
I got in his car and I was still immersed in my own thoughts.
"What are you thinking about?" Shawn cut the silence between us.
I thought he would never start the conversation first, I guess he felt guilty.
"Are you sure you want to fight against your on dad, Shawn?"
"Don't feel guilty about it Lily, you are not the reason why I am doing this. Gerald Wronged many humans, I shall not ignore all the bad deeds he committed, I want to set things straight," Shawn explained. "Okay then,"
"Do you want to go visit your friends?" Shawn asked out of the blue.
"Are you serious?"
"Yes, call them, let us meet with them," He confirmed.
"Okay,"
A smile got drawn on my face, I needed to meet my friends and I knew that Gerald would refuse to grant me permission but if I am going with Shawn then he has nothing to worry about, I guess. "You can't tell your father that you know what happened between me and him,"
"Yeah, I won't don't worry, I already know he threatened you with your friends' lives by now,"
"Okay, cool," I smiled again.
I am getting excited to meet them; it has been a long time since I last saw them. I procrastinated asking Shawn about what happened to his mother for another time.
