Chapter 16 by HusnaS
16. Two Can Play The Game
Inside the large conference hall of the GK Group. Charts and figures showed in the presentation screen, displaying the rise and fall of stocks.
The hall echoed with the presenter’s voice as he justified the figures on the screen.
The man whom the presenter was particularly enlightening on the matters of the Group seemed to be lost in another world.
Sitting across the large desk was the solitary figure whose eyes were rather fixed on the floor-to-ceiling windows instead of the screen.
Seemingly deep in his thoughts, time flew by and the presentation ended without him even throwing a single question at the presenter.
The Departments Managers and other members of the board of directors left the meeting bewildered.
Lucas didn’t move from his position. His mind and thoughts were all on one person…
Heidi.
“Mr. Harrison.” Amanda waved a hand in front of him. “There is an important matter you need to attend to.”
“What is it?” Lucas said with a hint of annoyance, not liking the sudden interruption. Amanda was taken aback. The man who was usually composed now looked like a ticking bomb.
“Actually, it is about GlamGrove Agency. There are angry protesters outside the company, asking for it to be taken down.”
Such a matter was supposed to astonish him, after all, GlamGrove Agency was among the best subsidiaries under GK Group.
But the man didn’t flinch. “GlamGrove Agency is just an Insignificant company. Why won’t its CEO take care of such matters?”
“Mr. Harrison.” Amanda looked frantic. “The CEO tried but failed. Those angry protesters are none other than the fans of those celebrities?”
“What celebrities? Be straightforward.”
“I just got a report from GlamGrove Agency that StriveStyle Co. a subsidiary under AG Group has suddenly cancelled its collaboration with GlamGrove Agency regarding the contracting of models for the branch.”
“So?”
“The contract termination was very sudden without any headstarts. The protesters are blaming GlamGrove Agency instead of StriveStyle Co. That company is already falling, why would they try to drag us down with it?”
“Tainting GlamGrove Agency’s reputation is the same as demeaning the values of GK Group. Mr. Harrison, have we offended anyone from AG Group?”
Hearing Amanda’s statement, Lucas’s expression darkened.
The temperature inside the room suddenly dropped, and a brooding aura surrounded the man.
Amanda covered her mouth, realizing that she’d let her mouth run freely. After all, she’d been the one Lucas had asked to look into Mr. Olsen’s alleged relationship with Mrs. Harrison.
“Get out.”
After chasing the secretary away, Lucas grabbed his phone from the desk.
“Inform the manager of the Partnerships Department. Cancel each one of our collaborations with AG Group. Do that, now.”
Lucas dropped the phone, a murderous glint flashing in his eyes.
‘Zach Olsen. Two can play the game.’
Meanwhile, at LuxVille Residential Area.
The magnificent Villa shook with the blaring sound of music.
Inside the luxurious living room, Zach lounged on a couch, watching a handful of girls wriggle their bodies and flashing their assets.
Sitting by his sides were two slender ladies. While one poured him a glass of wine, the other one was gently massaging his arm.
“Mr. Olsen, I think this is important. May I answer it for you?”
His phone had been ringing for a while, but Zach spared it no attention.
Finally, the man was frustrated.
He picked up the remote and lowered the volume.
“Don’t you know this is my resting day? Why are you disturbing me?” He placed the phone on his ear, annoyed with his assistant.
“Mr. Olsen, this is a very important matter.” The assistant cleared his throat.
Literally, every day was a resting day for the boss.
He rarely showed up in the company and never liked to be disturbed with cooperate issues.
But this was a matter which couldn’t be overlooked.
“Our biggest ally and investor, GK Group is proposing to cancel all its collaboration with AG Group. This will put the Group in more danger, Mr. Olsen. We have to do something about it.”
GK Group and AG Group, as the largest Groups with enormous influences in the city, were known to be the best allies in the business world.
Although AG Group was on shaky grounds, GK Group stuck with it through thick and thin.
The news was shocking as well as devastating that GK Group was considering canceling their partnership.
If that happened, wouldn’t AG Group be dead meat?
“Oh?” Was the only answer he got from his Boss. “Well, they can pack their trash and leave. We’re not gonna stop them, are we?”
“Mr. Olsen, you don’t understand the enormity-”
“Hey, don’t be a chicken.”
Zach hung up and he laughed to himself.
‘So it has come to this. Ha!’
He scrolled down his contacts list and dialed a number.
“Aren’t you the best party organizer in Phoenix City? You’re in luck. How about you help me organize the grandest birthday party in history?”
“Sure, every prominent socialite should be invited.”
“Yeah. Including the Harrison family. They have to come.”
