Chapter 14 by HusnaS
14. Pick Up Swords for Her
Startled eyes stared back at her before they turned as dark as the bottom of a pit.
“What are you doing here, Heidi?” The man didn’t let go of her; in fact, his arms tightened around her, caging her in place.
Heidi wanted to believe she was hallucinating. The last person she expected to see here was Lucas.
“Mr. Harrison, let go of me.” Heidi pushed him away and struggled out of his embrace. She also lost her footing this time but managed to catch herself.
“I asked you… what are you doing here?”
His cold-deep voice was supposed to make her shudder. However, Heidi seemed to be immune to it, probably due to the wine’s effect.
Lucas’s eyes traveled from her half- lidded eyes to the tip of her nose, which was slightly red. Then they fell on her red cheeks. The girl looked tipsy, and a faint smell of wine hung around her.
“Excuse me…” Heidi wanted to walk away, but he grabbed her hand.
“Aren’t you going to answer my question-”
Before Lucas completed his words, Zach barged out of the booth.
“Come on, Princess! Don’t be a joy killer-”
But the words also died in his mouth when he saw who she was standing with.
“What an unpleasant surprise.” Zach raised a brow. “Mr. Harrison, don’t tell me you’ve started stalking Heidi.”
Lucas didn’t look pleased to see Zach. He was more than convinced that Heidi was here to mess around.
“How despicable of you, Heidi.” He turned to her, his eyes glaring. “You sure know how to play your game well. Going to the hospital to deceive Grandpa, and now messing around with your lover.”
She was still wearing the same clothes from earlier on, and Lucas believed she’d been hanging around with Zach the whole day.
Heidi’s head was still spinning; she wasn’t ready to entertain any of his words. So she wiggled her hand. “Just let go of me.”
“You wish!”
Lucas was so ready to take her away and teach her a lesson. And Heidi didn’t have much strength to fight the man because she was slightly tipsy.
“Hey, just let her go!” Zach grabbed her other hand, pulling her towards him. “Didn’t you hear that she doesn’t want to come with you?”
“And who do you think she wants to come with?” Lucas’s glare returned to Zach.
“Isn’t the answer obvious?” Zach smirked.
“I must remind you, Mr. Olsen. Heidi is still my wife because our divorce hasn’t been finalized. Since when did you have a fetish for married women?”
“It wasn’t my fault that you were blind and decided to divorce someone as gorgeous as Heidi. Now that she has found someone better, are you perhaps jealous?”
While the men bantered, each kept pulling Heidi. Zach was keen on angering Lucas while Lucas’s fury intensified.
As the two most powerful men in the city engaged in a heated argument over a lady, the passersby couldn’t help but stop walking. Curiosity hung in the air like an invisible thread, and they all began wondering who Heidi was.
“I’ve never seen her before.”
“What kind of charm does she possess that both Presidents of the largest Groups in the country would pick up swords for her?”
“To me, she looks ordinary.”
Heidi despised being the center of attention, and yet that’s exactly what was happening.
“Argh! Just leave me alone. Both of you!” She used all her strength to snatch her hands from both men.
Lucas frowned while Zach put on a worried look.
“Princess, I didn’t hurt you, right?” He picked up her slightly red arm and rubbed it gently. “Forgive me; I was too impulsive.”
“Tsk.” Heidi was exasperated, and she left in a hurry, evading Lucas’s attempt to grab her.
Lucas could go after her, but he decided to address the major problem.
“Mr. Olsen, we are not enemies. This is the last time I will warn you. Stay away from Heidi.”
“Otherwise, what?” Zach chuckled and shrugged. “If Heidi likes me, do I have power over that?”
“Oh, Lucas… what’s going on?” Tracy hurried up to him. She had been waiting for him in their booth, but he didn’t appear. When she came outside to have a look, she noticed a bunch of people gathered in one place.
Tracy’s heart sank when she heard Lucas’s voice arguing over Heidi. Her unease intensified when she realized she had even bumped into Heidi, but the girl didn’t spare her a glance.
“Oh, Lucas, is it Heidi again?” She pretended to be oblivious to what was going on. “I know Heidi’s going to attempt to anger you by hooking up with many men. Please don’t let her bother you; you know how some women are.”
“Mr. Olsen…” she turned to Zach, her eyes wide with concern. “Heidi might try to use you to make Lucas jealous. I’m sure she might use other men for the same purpose. Please be careful.”
“Ridiculous.” Zach rolled his eyes.
In his eyes, this pretentious girl’s acting was not as good as that of the girls who curried favor with him all the time. Without sparing her a glance, he hurried after Heidi.
Phone cameras clicked, and the murmurs increased.
Tracy’s head lowered in shame, and she held on tight to Lucas’s arm as if her life depended on it.
