Chapter 31
Chapter 31
Amanda marched straight into the Logan Family Manor and took Rina away.
She was Madam Logan, Howard’s mother. Although the Logan Family’s bodyguards had orders from Howard, they dared not do anything to Madam Logan.
They could only call Howard.
As soon as Howard received the news, he rushed to the Manor.
Amanda was still holding Rina’s hand, not yet entering the Manor.
“Mom, what are you trying to do?” Howard said coldly.
Amanda was displeased with his attitude. “What are you trying to do? I’m Rina’s grandmother. Are you suggesting that I would harm Rina?”
“Mother, Rina’s condition is unstable right now. I’ll bring her to see you when she’s feeling better,” Howard said as he approached, ready to take Rina with him.
Amanda wanted to stop him, but when Rina saw Howard getting closer, she shrunk behind Amanda.
This action surprised both Howard and Amanda.
Rina was closest to Howard in this family.
She didn’t want anyone else, only Howard.
But today she refused Howard.
“Rina, do you want to go with daddy?” Howard tried again, stepping forward.
Rina once again hid behind Amanda.
“Howard, you saw it too. Rina doesn’t want to go with you at
all. I think you should let Rina stay with me for a few days,” Amanda suggested.
Howard frowned and looked at Rina. He never expected Rina to reject him like this.
If she didn’t want to go with him, he couldn’t force her.
Forcing Rina to leave would only upset her more.
Amanda took Rina inside, and Howard followed, feeling worried.
Once inside the house, Rina locked herself in her room.
She didn’t say a word from beginning to end.
Howard’s furrowed brow never relaxed, his eyes filled with
concern for Rina.
“It’s alright, don’t worry. I’ll take care of Rina,” Amanda said, her tone softening as she tried to comfort him.
After all, Rina was their own son, and she knew he genuinely cared about her. She couldn’t help but feel some sympathy.
Howard nodded. Since Rina wanted to stay, he could only
29.82%
temporarily let her stay.
“Oh, by the way, Howard, is Sally back? Is she a successful lawyer?” Amanda asked.
When Sally was mentioned, Amanda’s tone turned icy. Her face filled with displeasure and anger..
Howard furrowed his brow. “Did Grace tell you?”
“Never mind who told me. Just tell me if it’s true,” Amanda insisted.
Howard nodded.
Amanda’s emotions suddenly became agitated. “You’re not thinking of reconciling with her, are you? Don’t forget, if she hadn’t silently called off the wedding and left, the Logan Family wouldn’t have been mocked behind their backs all these years.”
Whenever she attended gatherings with those noble ladies, they treated her respectfully on the surface. But behind her back, they often brought up this matter to mock her.
She never had high hopes for this marriage in the first place. The gap between the Brown Family and the Logan Family was too big.
With the Logan Family’s influence, finding a better
aristocratic family wouldn’t have been a problem at all.
But Old Madam Logan insisted, and as a daughter–in–law, she couldn’t say anything. She could only swallow her pride.
