Shattered Illusions: Love Lies and Redemption ( Lizetta ) Chapter 348
Chapter 348
Lizetta couldn’t care less about the view, her attention was foxed on the faint scars across his abdomen and chest.
The words Evelina had whispered to her echoed in her mind again,
She had said that every scar on Remington’s body was a testament to his search for Stella
For each sear, Remington had risked his life for Stella.
“Turned on, huh?”
His voice, low and tinged with amusement, suddenly broke the silence, making Lizetta realize she had been staring at the scar peeking just above his belt line for far too long.
She had lingered too long on it.
And clearly, he had misunderstood her gaze, as his tailored pants seemed to tighten.
Lizetta quickly averted her gaze, about to shake her head in denial when his hand captured her chin.
He wrapped an arm around her waist, his legs parting to pull Lizetta closer and scaled her lips with his.
Trapped between his legs, Lizetta found herself overwhelmed by his demanding kiss, his desire pressing insistently against her.
Before she could react, he leaned back against the headboard, pulling her onto the bed and forcing her legs to straddle his muscular thighs.
Lizetta didn’t want this, her mind elsewhere.
She placed her hands against his chest, turning her head to mutter brokenly, “Stop. Ah, your injuries.”
Remington ceased his kisses, guiding her hand to the zipper of his pants with a light chuckle.
“Well, I’m wounded. So, Mrs. Dashiell, if you want it, you’ll have to come and get it yourself”
Lizetta curled her fingers inward, but he took it as shyness, kissing her burning earlobe and whispering seductively.
“Go ahead, release him.”
Her ears burning, Lizetta forcefully withdmw her hand.
Shaking her head, she said, “Stop it, I didn’t mean that. You haven’t even bandaged your wounds properly. Plus, I really do have other things to handle today.”
She pushed him away and jumped off the bed to grab some bandages.
Moving quickly, Lizetta started wrapping his wounds, then moved behind him to tie a knot.
His back bore more scars.
After securing the bandage, she knelt behind him, her fingers lightly tracing the scars crisscrossing his back, and asked again.
“Remi, did you get these in Celestia?”
“Feeling sorry for me? Remington reached for his shirt.
He was about to get dressed.
He was avoiding the topic, trying to hide his scars again.
Lizetta placed a hand on his shoulder, halting his movement, her gentle fingertips tracing the scars on his back, sending shivers through him.
“Remi, can’t you tell me how you got these?”
Her voice was soft her breath warm on his skin.
Remington felt parched, as if her earlier distance was a form of punishment.
But he found it hard to resist her probing.
He rasped, “Got them while looking for someone.”
“That person is very important to you??
“Yeah.”
“Important enough to risk your life?”
“Yeah.”
One scar, two scars, three scars, four….
09:29
Each one a medal of his battles for that woman:
Branded on him, engraved in her eyes, wounding her heart.
Uzetta counted silently, her throat constricting, unable to go on.
She suddenly closed her eyes, withdrawing her fingers.
Her face pale, she no longer had the strength to ask further.
There was no need to ask; the person he was searching for was indeed Stella.
Those scars were all for Stella
But he was rare, with blood that took too long to clot–each injury could have been fatal.
Evelina was right; each scar was a testament to how many times he had put his life on the line for Stella.
Uzetta suddenly covered her mouth, tears streaming down her face uncontrollably.
She was heartbroken, overwhelmed by jealousy and a sense of powerlessness.
A deep jealousy.
An endless feeling of helplessness and despair.
At this moment, she no longer had the courage to ask him anything directly.
