Chapter 32- Breakthrough
"I'm assuming your a friend of Hannah's?" My dad said with the "Why don't you introduce us?" Look. I roll my eyes.
"Yes, dad, Violet, this is my dad, dad, Violet."
"Hi!" She says with a sweet smile.
"Nice to meet a new friend of my daughter's." My dad gives her a pleasant smile. Violet begins talking to my dad about the sleepover we had. Once I see she's about to mention Johnny, I do all I can to stop her from saying his name. But it's too late. "Johnny?" Oh no..."Who's Johnny!" He glares at me then Violet.
"Oh, my brother!" Violet says oblivious like an idiot!
"He lives there at your house?"
"Yeah..." Violet drags off, unsure at what he's getting at. I face palm. Dad turns to me.
"You mean to tell me, that you slept over at a house with a boy!" I give him an uneasy smile.
"He slept in a different room." I say trying to calm him down. He looks back at Violet.
"So who dropped you guys off the next day?" AHH! I look over at Violet hoping she'll catch my signal.
"Oh, my brother." I guess not!
"HE DROPPED YOU GUYS OFF!" Violet jumps from his outburst, I give him another guilty smile. Could this get any worse!
"Well, actually he dropped off Hannah, you see I wasn't feeling well-" I spoke to soon...
"SO YOU SLEPT OVER AT A HOUSE WITH A BOY AND DROVE ALL THE WAY TO SCHOOL ALONE!! WITH A BOY?" That's it, I'm dead. Goodbye life! Goodbye world! Why? Why Violet? Why do you have to be so damn oblivious! Violet makes an O expression and gives me a guilty look. I give her a strained smile and nod at her, basically saying. Yeah, you fucked that up for me. My dad is so angry he starts stuttering. "YOU ARE GROUNDED FOR A WEEK! A MONTH, A YEAR! NO TILL YOU TURN SIXTY! Well, I feel like he might die so I'll be able to go...But knowing my dad he'll haunt the crap out of me. Violet walks out slowly and awkwardly. Well at least he seems to like Violet, Oh no! Now he's going to be glaring at Johnny when he sees him! Argh! Why? Dad storms out, probably thinking what to do and how long to keep me grounded. A little later, Ali comes by to visit. I updated her on my dad's outburst from earlier. To my surprise, I mentally sigh she's cracking up. Me and Ali talk for hours till the nurses kick her out. She waves goodbye and is greeted by my dad standing firmly by the doorway like a bodyguard. I sigh.
"Dad."
"No! Don't dad me!" He says sternly. Great now he's checking on all of the visitors. I finish the last of my dinner and wait for the nurse to take the empty tray away. He takes down the makeshift table and says goodnight to me. I lie there on the bed, preparing my mind for what's to come. I'm a bit anxious and scared. But somehow I know that everything is going to be okay now. I still have cold sweat dripping down my body; I'm still cold and shivering. I don't know what time it is right now. Or how long I've been up; I could care less. I take in some deep breaths and exhale. Okay, here we go. I close my eyes waiting for sleep to come find me. Nothing, I close my eyes tighter. A long while has passed and nothing, making me feel more anxious. Funny, now that I want to sleep I can't! Finally, when more time passes a yawn begins to form. A yawn! I can feel my body slowly feeling heavy and sinking into the comfort of the bed. I wake up in the dark room being tied down to a chair. I begin to freak out uncontrollably when I see where I am. I close my eyes and take some deep breaths. It's just a dream, I say to myself. Nothing more than a figment of my imagination. My breathing has calmed and I force myself to take a good look around me. I tug at the rope that my hands are tied in, I begin to feel excruciating pain in my wrists. I tug harder ignoring the pain, I tug again nothing. I tug and break free, causing the chair to flip. Surprisingly I feel no pain! I untie the rope at my feet, once it's loose enough for me to step through, I break a leg off the wooden chair. I stand beside the doorway, holding the leg like a bat. I close my eyes and breath again, I can do this! I tell myself. I can do this! I grip onto the end of the leg and fumble my fingers a bit. I hear voices, I raise the leg a bit higher and close my eyes. Once I hear the big metal door open I use all my might to wack whoever it is beyond the doorway. They fumble to the ground easily, I run as fast as I can then stop. Where's the long hallway? There should've been a long hallway. Instead, there's nothing...there's nothing but an open space of a town. I'm free! I'm free! I wake up feeling exhilarating and refreshed. I eat my breakfast I've been given. It's the same as yesterday's but it still tastes good. Dad walks in looking calmer than yesterday. I smile at him.
"Dad, I'm ready to go back to school."
Ian's Pov,
It's late in the evening, Ali walks in. Probably back from visiting Hannah again. Ali stops by the doorway and faces me.
"She's doing alright Ian."
"Did I ask?" I say with a bored tone.
"I'd just wanted to let you know." She gives me a soft smile. What makes her think that I give a damn! I don't care if she recovers or not! Just as long as she doesn't faint or get herself killed! But it is good to know so I can also recover...
"And she'll be moving back in and going to school again."
"When?"
"Tomorrow." Great then it's settled. Knock, knock!
