Chapter 35
Chapter 35 Nancy, I Can Support You
As Nicholas applied medicine for her, his hands suddenly paused.
But it was only a few seconds, and his expression returned to normal.
With a low and calm voice, he said, "Haven't you already known the purpose of our marriage?"
As expected, the weight hanging in Nancy's chest suddenly dropped.
What an expected response!
She shouldn't have expected it in the first place. However, she couldn't help but ask.
Now that she knew the answer, she had a more precise understanding, and she wouldn't hold on to any unrealistic fantasies anymore.
So, as you can see, all these facts told her something.
She was wrong.
She was completely wrong.
For all these years, the person he loved has always been Madelline and no one else.
Perhaps her dream shattered from the moment Madelline returned to the country, from the moment he proposed a divorce.
It broke into pieces.
And it could never be repaired again.
But Nicholas, did you know that you're cruel?'
If you didn't love me, why did you treat me so gently? Was it just because of Grandpa's request?"
This kind of gentleness was not love.
It was a pity.
It was sympathy.
And it was the last thing she wanted.
Like waking from a dream, Nancy suddenly withdrew her hand and looked at him. "Thank you
for helping me with the medicine, but I can do it myself."

"Don't move, let me do it." Nicholas held her hands down.
Nancy insisted and pulled her hand away. "I don't need your help. It's just applying some medicine and not a difficult task. I can do it myself "Nancy, don't be stubborn."
Nicholas grabbed her hands once again.
This time, Nancy didn't withdraw her hand. Instead, she directed her gaze towards the opposite private room.
"Didn't you see it? Your crush is still waiting for you. You made plans with her for Valentine's Day. bought gifts, and prepared surprises. If you waste your time with me now, all that effort you put into spending the whole day will go to waste, and it won't have any effect."
"Give me the medicine. I can handle this small matter."
However, Nicholas acted as if he hadn't heard.
He sped up and continued applying the medicine,
But the movements were not as gentle as before. Nancy's red and swollen wounds were slightly sore from applying the medicine.
It wasn't until he finished applying the medicine that Nicholas finally let go of Nancy's hand.
"And you still say today isn't unusual?" He looked at her, his gaze intense.
Nancy avoided his gaze and said, "Whether it's unusual or not, it has nothing to do with you. You should go back soon. Madelline is still waiting!" "Are you in such a hurry to push me away?"
It's not that she's trying to push him away, but rather that his heart isn't with her. What's the point of forcing him to stay?
"Today is Valentine's Day, and you didn't come out with me in the first place. If you're
accompanying her, then do it properly. What does it mean to come to me halfway through?" The more Nancy spoke, the more she felt a bitter heartache.
"I didn't realize today was Valentine's Day. It wasn't intentional, Nicholas explained.
"You don't need to explain.
"Are you angry?" Nicholas asked.
Nancy shook her head and replied, "No"

Nicholas' gaze fell on the bag beside him. "You are
When he received the credit card notification, he was initially puzzled about why she had suddenly made such a significant purchase. Little did he know it was for these several diamond rings, which explained everything.
"Today is Valentine's Day. Can't I buy myself some things I like? Besides that, you're the one who asked Lynn to accompany me shopping. How can I go shopping without spending money?"
Nicholas stood up, ruffled her hair, and smiled, saying, "I didn't say you may not spend money."
"Even if you spend ten times this amount, I can still afford it."
Initially, she was outraged, but after hearing those words, Nancy's heart melted. She was in a total
mess.
He was always like this, giving a slap and offering a sweet date.
Oh, Nicholas, you were poisonous, making me addicted. It hurt a lot, but I couldn't quit you."
At that moment, his phone rang.
On the other end, Madelline's voice came through clearly on the phone, "Nicholas, where are you? I've already cut the cake. Hurry back!"
"I'll be right back."
Before leaving, he again instructed Lynn, "Take care of her."
On the other side, Madelline clenched her hands tightly, and her hands had turned pale due to the force.
If she hadn't accidentally glanced over to the opposite side just now, she wouldn't have even expected that Nancy was also dining at this restaurant. Moreover, Nicholas had left her all alone to see Nancy.
Today was supposed to be her day, and Nicholas was supposed to be with her. Nancy, why are you coming to disrupt things again?
But that's not what pissed her off.
Even more infuriating was that she was angry but couldn't express it and had to hold it in
She was holding it in with all her might.
Upon hearing footsteps, Madelline immediately let go of her hands and put on a gentle smule on her face. "Nicholas, come and try this cake I just took a bite, and it's so delicious."

Then, Madelline had already delivered the fork to Nicholas' lips.
Nicholas could only open his mouth and take a bite.
On the other side, Nancy felt her eyes welling up with tears due to her jealousy.
It was their second anniversary not too long ago.
She also baked a cake and had Lynn deliver it to him.
But what did he say? He said he didn't like sweets.
However, when Madelline fed him a cake, he eagerly accepted it and ate it all.
"Lynn, do you think your boss is fickle?" Nancy turned to him, smiling bitterly.
Lynn was panicked and quickly reassured her, "Mrs. Sallow, it's not the same. Today is.
Nancy interrupted with her calm tone, "Forget it! It's hard on you to come up with excuses for him."
"I'm done eating. Let's go out!"
"Okay, Mrs. Sallow."
Perhaps it was because she had fish for dinner. As soon as Nancy stepped out of the restaurant, she began to feel nauseous and wanted to vomit.
Just as she exited the toilet, she crossed paths with Lynn. Coincidentally, Madelline and Nicholas were also coming out of the restaurant.
"Nancy, it's a coincidence to keep running into you today." Madelline looked at her and greeted. her warmly.
"Yeah, what a coincidence."
Nancy didn't want to bother her, but someone was obsessed with her.
As her
eyes
fell on the bag in Lynn's hand, Madelline suddenly said in surprise, "Nancy, so it was you who bought those rings!"
"It's unexpected! When I returned with Nicholas, they said someone had bought all three rings. I thought, who was it? I didn't expect it to be you."
Nancy tilted her head and looked at her with a light smile, "Yes, I bought them all after looking at them and feeling very fond of them."
"My husband has plenty of money and doesn't lack anything at all, right?"

Nancy's rhetorical question made Madelline's face pale with anger, but she couldn't express it, so she could only endure it.
"You're right, but a girl should still be more independent. Don't you think so, Nicholas?" After Madelline finished speaking, she deliberately looked at Nicholas.
Nancy coldly replied, "Is it? I'm not as ambitious as Ms. Madelline. I'm rather shallow. I don't want to work hard, and I want to be supported by my husband. Anyway, he said he will spend a lot of money to support me!"
