Chapter 27 -
After Garrett left the clubhouse, his entire expression was dark. It was as if he wanted to murder someone. Even Radley dared not say another word, worried that he would offend him.
He stepped on the gas and sped up to the max, leaving behind a black mirage on the streets where plenty of cars were traversing.
Radley was worried that Garrett might get into an accident, so he too chased after him in a car. "Radley, since Garrett is here for revenge, then he should have something that he can use against Asher. But why didn't he get back at him after being slapped in front of so many people? I don't understand, Mikaela asked extremely curiously as she sat in the passenger seat.
"You haven't realized the reason why Garrett is in Rollinsford yet? Not only does he want to deal with Asher, he also wants to take control of Rollinsford. I hear that he's going to become the next patriarch, but there are plenty of people supporting Rose to become the next matriarch instead. Garrett has to prove his capabilities to all of them. Otherwise, Asher would've already died in Rodrick's hands."
"I see." Mikaela nodded. "Does it mean that Garrett might become the next patriarch? If that's the case, this is a very rare opportunity for us Leonards. If we can help Garrett to become the patriarch, he won't forget about us once it's done, right?"
"Of course. This time, the Leonards will surpass the Yaegers and become the number one household in Rollinsford." Radley smiled coldly as he accelerated. He stopped outside of a bar a while later.
When Radley saw Garrett walk into the bar, Leonard quickly went in. Radley knew the boss of this place, and he was also a usual customer of this place. When the manager saw him, he quickly greeted him with a smile.
"Mr. Leonard, Ms. Leonard, did you two come alone or with someone else?"
"Take me to your best room," Radley said.
"Alright. Please, come this way."
The three of them quickly went into the most lavish room. After the drinks were served, Garrett immediately downed a glass of wine.
When Mikaela saw that, she then smiled, "Master Schmidt, there is no need to be angry about what just happened. To be honest, I don't think that you and Asher are on the same level at all. While Asher seems to be at an advantage, it has also exposed his arrogant personality. It's not something good for him. Not to mention that you could have taught him a lesson right on the spot, but you didn't. This shows me that you're someone that can achieve great things."
Garrett glanced at Mikaela. She could make her words sweet.
She was around eighteen or nineteen years old. While she was not as pretty as Noelle or Dove, she was still quite beautiful. At this age, there was still a hint of innocence on her face. It was quite tempting, to be honest.
"I have a hundred ways to kill Asher, but I won't let him die easily," Garrett said frigidly. He lit up a cigarette and inhaled deeply. "Radley, call Castor, Julian and Freya. Tell them to come see me immediately and say that this is my request. I want all four of Rollinsford's great households to stand by my side. With that, Asher won't have anything that he can use against me!" "Alright. I'll contact them now," Radley pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose as he replied. After a few seconds of hesitation, he said, "Right, Master Schmidt, I don't believe that the Yaegers will stand with you. Should we still give Castor a call? From how I see it, it won't affect you much with or without the Yaegers. They're nothing to you, right?"
Radley also had his own plans. If the Leonards wanted to dominate in Rollinsford, they would go into conflict with the Yaegers. If they were also to stand with the Schmidts, then the Leonards would not dare to go all out against them.
That was why Radley felt that it might be the most beneficial for them if the Yaegers were to stand with Asher.
After a short moment, Garrett immediately said, "It's up to them whether they come or not. However, they have to be informed."
When Radley heard what Garrett said, he said nothing and simply walked out and had Mikaela accompany him.
Once he was out of the private room, Radley then walked over to the rest area to light up a smoke. Only then did he give Julian and Freya a call.
Both of them were still at the clubhouse. When they received Radley's call, they both let out an awkward expression.
Julian sipped some red wine and said, "It seems like the reason that Garrett is looking for us is to force our families and us to choose a side."
On one side were the Schmidts. On the other side were the Crawfords. Julian was having quite the headache as well.
Not to mention that he was not sure of the strengths of the two households and which was the more powerful one. If he were to choose the wrong side now, it might affect his household's fate. "Garrett was slapped in public. Even a normal person would not be able to handle that kind of humiliation, let alone someone like him. The reason that Asher did that was to force him to make a move. However, what I don't know is whether it was because Asher has absolute confidence in himself, or if the reason that he slapped Garrett was out of impulse," Freya said with a frown. Julian also shook his head. "I can't say. However, seeing how Radley was treating Dove and the others, it seems like something has changed. In the past, he would not dare to speak to Dove in that kind of tone. Which means that the Schmidts have given him a large boost of confidence. In other words, he knows how powerful the Schmidts are."
Freya also had to agree when she heard Julian's analysis.
"Right, Freya, what are the Sullivans going to do? The Leonards have sided with the Schmidts, while the Yaegers seem to be allying themselves with Asher. Our two households are going to be in a difficult situation. However, at a time like this, both our households should stick together." "My grandma said that Sullivans will remain neutral."
Julian merely nodded with a smile, but he still kept his opinion to himself. Garrett seemed to be coming in force. Would he allow the Sullivans to remain neutral?
The two of them then gave Castor and Dove a heads up before driving to the bar.
Castor knew full well what the two of them wanted to do. That was because he had also received Radley's call. However, he had already clarified the Yaegers' position. That was why he rejected him using the guests as an excuse.
However, this was a result that Radley was satisfied with. He then put away his phone. When he returned to the private room, he then saw Mikaela drinking with Garrett.
Mikaela could not drink much, and she was already somewhat drunk. Her cheeks were red, and she was looking somewhat dazed.
"Master Schmidt. As per your orders, I've given them all a call. Julian and Freya should be on their way here, but Castor turned it down," Radley said as he walked over to Garrett. He then said, "Please don't take the Yaegers' refusal to heart."
"Turning me down means that they've chosen to stand with Asher. I'll make them regret it," Garrett said gloomily as he narrowed his eyes.
After one hour, Julian and Freya reached the bar. Before they entered, they each made a call and asked about their elders' opinions.
Harley was going to remain neutral. However, the Hoffmans did not give Julian any clear instructions and simply told him to do as the situation demanded.
After a toast, Garrett immediately jumped into the main topic. "Mr. Hoffman, Ms. Sullivan, I'll get straight to business. One of the reasons that I came is to eliminate Asher Crawford. He turned my brother into a cripple. If I don't have my vengeance, the Schmidts will never know peace. I've decided not to hide this from you. This time, I've brought Rodrick with me, an elite on the Capital City's Elite Ranking. Rodrick has the ability to instantly kill Asher, but I won't let him die so easily. That's too clean a death for him.
"I heard that while Rollinsford has four great households on the surface, in reality, the Yaegers call all the shots. You must want to remove them from your hills, right? If the Leonards, the Hoffmans and the Sullivans all work together, the Yaegers will no doubt quickly be forced out from being one of the four great households especially with our help. Then, Rollinsford will only have three great households. Isn't that a good thing?"
However, both Julian and Freya simply exchanged a glance and said nothing. Garrett then continued, "Of course, it's not that I have to work with you. It's not that I'm boasting, that even without you three households, it's easy for me to deal with him. However, when the time comes, perhaps not only the Yaegers will be forced out of the four great households. That's why I wanted to know what your thoughts are."
"Master Schmidt, Freya and I are simply juniors in our households. We have no right to make a decision like this. Maybe you can give us a few days' time. Once we've come up with a decision after some discussion, we'll let you know?" Julian said.
However, Garrett shook his head and said, "I want to know now."
"Well..." Julian found himself in a difficult position.
At this time, Radley then said, "Julian, Freya, I don't know what you're hesitating about. The Schmidts' abilities are not something that we can even imagine. This is a good opportunity for us to surpass the Yaegers, and perhaps even develop in the Capital City. The Leonards are clear this time. We are Master Schmidt's to command."
Mikaela nodded as well. "That's right, we Leonards have agreed to it. What are you hesitating about?" Her tone was belittling the Hoffman and the Sullivans.
Julian let out a dry laugh.
Meanwhile, Freya simply glanced at Mikaela. She was obviously not thrilled. "The Sullivans are naturally not as good as the Leonards. However, the Sullivans do not wish to join any wars. That's why the Sullivans will remain neutral. I hope you'll understand."
