Secret Scion

Chapter 184 -

Rose smiled softly and said, "Intimidating you? No, I'm simply laying before you all the facts. Nobody's hands in the criminal underworld are clean. Not even you can guarantee that you're completely innocent, Nina. That's why it won't be hard for us to deal with any of you. I like you. That's why I'm willing to say this to you. I wouldn't even care if it was someone else."

"Looks like you're here to convince me. Ha! I'm afraid that I have to disappoint you. Ever since I've chosen this path, I already knew that it won't end well for me. In other words, I'm prepared for the worst. If you want to play, I'll play along. Bring it on." Nine lit up a cigarette and began to smoke.

Earlier in the afternoon, Sebastian was going to Pearl Tower to pick up Rose after work. However, he only found out that Rose had already left when he was at Pearl Tower.

Afterward, he called the people spying on Rose. Only then did he find out that she had left with Asher.

When he heard that, his expression became extremely terrifying. He almost smashed his mobile. Sebastian then heard that Asher took Rose to Bar Avenue. Sebastian was not sure why. After considering it for a long time, Sebastian decided to go to Bar Avenue to take a look for himself... Half an hour later, at the club's entrance.

Asher and Rose walked out of the club, with the former saying, "I never expected that Nina would be so loyal to Joel. It seems like it's going to be difficult to turn them against each other." Rose then said, "It's not completely impossible. Joel is someone distrustful. That's something that we can use."

Asher then smiled and said, "That's the reason I looked for you. I knew that you'd find a way because you're very good at turning friends against friends."

Rose was really angry. However, just before she was about to erupt, she suddenly felt that there was a pair of eyes staring at her from the darkness. Her intuition had always been accurate. She instinctively turned and looked in that direction, and indeed there was a familiar figure. It was Sebastian.

"I was going to pick you up from work, but I heard that you left early and came here. I remember that you don't like places like this." Sebastian was still able to control his emotions, and he was not showing any irritation on his face, but his tone was somewhat strange.

Rose knew that Sebastian was not happy that she was with Asher. She was worried that he was going to think of something outlandish and so she said, "We went to speak with Nina Tucker, hoping to persuade her to leave Joel. Unfortunately, she seems to have already made her decision."

"I'm very happy that you took this matter to heart since it's the Gentlemen's primary objective. However, let me know before you take any action. Nina, despite being a woman, is also a boss of a criminal organization. She can be quite vicious, and I'm worried that she'll turn hostile," Sebastian explained.

Rose could hear that Sebastian was unhappy about her not telling him first.

"Asher, I'll do what I promised you. Once the matter with Joel's done, I'll help you get your identity as the heir back. However, I hope that you'll be loyal to me too. If you threaten me, I'll probably destroy you first," Sebastian said as he looked at Asher.

Asher simply smiled and said nothing.

"Come on." Sebastian held Rose's hand and left after looking at Asher.

Rose did not know why, but she wanted to pull her hand away. However, it was obvious that Sebastian was holding her hand very tightly. She tried a few times before giving up.

Once Sebastian and Rose left Bar Avenue and got into Sebastian's car, he then said in an expressionless tone, "Everyone knows that you and Asher are enemies. However, you're getting too close to him, and it might make others question your motives. Especially the Schmidts. If your grandfather finds out about this, it won't be good for you."

Rose did not want to start a fight with Sebastian, and so she did not even want to refute him. The "others" that he spoke of were no doubt himself.

Seeing that Rose did not respond, Sebastian stopped and changed the topic. "I asked you to find out about the elite that's hiding among the Crawfords. Any progress on that one?" Rose was initially looking outside the window. When she heard the question, she was upset as she looked at Sebastian and asked, "Am I your fiancée? Or am I your underling? Sebastian Macquoid, if the only reason you want to get engaged with me is because you want to use me, just be upfront about it. You can use me as you like, but I don't want you to mix this in together with our marriage. That's my bottom-line."

Sabastian stopped the car and then looked at Rose, "Why do you suspect my intention in getting engaged with you? Did Asher tell you something?"

"I'm a normal person. I have my own intuition. I don't need someone else to tell me that," Rose explained.

"Rose... You've really misunderstood me. I admit that when it comes to Asher, I get a bit hasty, and I give you a lot of pressure. I apologize for that. However, there's something that I need to tell you. I might have to leave Alexandrius next month. My time is limited, that's why I'm being very impulsive. I'm really sorry," Sebastian apologized sincerely.

"Next month? But we've just gotten engaged."

Sebastian extended his hand and gave Rose's hair a stroke and said with a smile, "I promise you. When I come back next time, I won't be leaving anymore."

The next day, Asher received a call from Noelle saying that the money had been prepared. All they needed was to sign the contract.

Currently, the Steward Corporation was doing quite well in Rollinsford. That was why the amount of funds they needed to prepare was not too much for them.

After he hung up the phone, Asher then called Felix saying that he would like to sign the contract as soon as possible to stop him from changing his mind at the last second.

When it was almost time for breakfast and Asher was just about to go down to grab something

to eat, the doorbell suddenly rang. He opened the door and saw Dove standing there. Asher was dumbfounded.

"How did you know I'm staying here?" Asher asked.

Dove then told him that Layla told her. She then continued, "I've been calling you for the past few days but you never pick up my calls, so I came over to see you directly. Are you doing okay?" Even though Asher did not have romantic feelings for Dove, he did not hate her. He then said, "I'm fine. Not good, but not terrible either. Have you eaten? Do you want to eat something with me? I'm hungry right now."

Dove nodded.

The two of them left the hotel and went to a nearby breakfast place and had something to eat. After they left the shop, Ash lit up a cigarette and started smoking. He then asked, "How's your work at Medea Recruitment?"

"Not bad. Ms. Knight treats me very well. Earlier, they gave me an important job, and we've sorted out the details. However, Huxley stirred up some trouble and almost made us lose the job," Dove said with a smile.

"Huxley?" Asher frowned.

"Yes. Ms. Knight said that Huxley wanted payback."

"That idiot," Asher could not help but curse under his breath. Ever since Huxley became the heir, he no longer hid his true persona. How could someone like that become the patriarch of the Crawfords?

Dove stroked her hair and then said with a smile, "Asher, I feel that Ms. Knight doesn't hate you that much. If not, she would not have told me that you're staying in the Everyday Hotel. I believe from the beginning that you're innocent. I hope that the truth will be revealed soon so that you can return to your household."

Asher could sense Dove's sincerity in her words. He simply said, "Thanks."

Dove smiled.

After some time, Asher's mobile rang. He saw that it was Rose. He then picked up the call. "What is it?"

"Sebastian told me to inform you to be at the Supercar Club in one hour to come up with a plan to deal with Joel," Rose said.

"Sure," Asher hung up the call and then said to Dove, "I have something on, so I need to go. We'll talk later when we have some free time."

It would take around 50 minutes to reach the Supercar Club by taking a cab. As such, Asher did not delay and hailed a cab to get to the club right away.

When Asher got there, he noticed several familiar cars parked in the parking lot. They all belonged to the members from the higher echelon of the Gentlemen. For example, Rose, Griffin and Jeremiah.

"Master Crawford, Master Macquoid is in the bar. He asked me to take you there immediately,” a lower-level member of the Gentlemen said as he approached him.

Asher nodded and walked directly to the bar in the club. When he had just reached the entrance, several of Sebastian's followers were already waiting outside. When they saw Asher approaching, they then pushed the door and said, "This way, please."
