Secret Scion

Chapter 183 -

Huxley was not an idiot. Despite telling him that this was a chance for him to reflect, he knew that it was to limit his freedom. He then said, "Grandpa, I'm still running a company. I can't stay at home forever."

"Have someone else manage it for you. If it can't be done, close it down. Our household doesn't need that money," Solomon said in a tone indicating that he would not accept any refusal.

The sky had just darkened when a pair of youths walked in Bar Avenue. The man was handsome while the woman was beautiful and sexy. If one were to simply judge based on their height and physical appearance, they looked like a pair of young lovers.

Asher held a cigarette in his hand and began to smoke. "Don't you think that Bar Avenue is a very special place?"

The young woman next to him was none other than Rose.

Rose glanced at him. In her memories, they had not walked together like this for three years. She then asked, "What do you mean?"

She did not know why, but she felt strangely relaxed with Asher walking by her side. She felt no pressure at all, as if it was something comforting.

It was something that even Sebastian could not give her.

Asher then said with a smile, "Don't you feel that after you enter Bar Avenue, the desire in your body begins to awaken? It's like even the air is filled with something arousing."

"Shameless!" Rose never thought that Asher would say something like that out of nowhere, and her pretty face began to slowly turn red. Luckily, the lighting in this place was quite dim, so Asher did not notice the redness on her face.

Asher shuddered and said, "There are lots of different people in this world. Some of them make you feel like they are refined. Some of them make you feel that they are shameless. Unfortunately, I'm one that makes you feel that I'm shameless."

Rose looked at Asher with thoughts running in her mind. She did not know why, but when he said that, and when she saw Asher's well-sculpted face, something seemed to be tugging at her heartstrings. Ripples formed in her still world.

Rose quickly looked away and pinched her thigh, forcing herself to calm down. "However, few can make me remember them. You're one of those few."

"Haha. Is that so? Doesn't that mean I should be grateful for my shamelessness?" Asher scratched his nose and smiled mischievously.

"Why did you marry the Stewards back then? Because of Noelle Steward?"

Asher turned around and looked at Rose while saying with a smile, "Jealous?"

"Never mind. Forget that I ever asked." Rose regretted asking him that question and was getting a bit nervous about it. She wished that Asher did not realize how strange she had been acting. Asher smoked his cigarette and then put his hands behind his head and stretched his body, saying, "When I was being pursued by those elites back then, I chose to jump the cliff out of despair. Luckily, it seems that I'm a very tough one to kill, so I survived. However, I was quite heavily injured. Noelle saved me afterward, so my life is hers. I won't hesitate to do whatever she asks me to."

"I thought you stayed with her out of love?"

"Why not? Haven't you heard of gradual love? Not to mention that she's so beautiful and quite competent too. It's normal for me to fall for her."

"Normal?! Hmph! I think you're simply a lecher." With that, Rose increased her pace and left Asher behind her.

Nina was Joel's right-hand woman. She had high status in the organization and controlled multiple territories. Normally, she would stay in a private club in Bar Avenue. It was also her headquarters.

The club had five floors which provided karaoke, sauna, and even a tea house as well as other services. The club was only usable by members, and only senior members could bring their friends in.

Asher was not a member, so he was quickly stopped by Nina's underlings just as he had reached the entrance. He then asked Rose, "Are you a member?"

Rose rolled her eyes at him. "Do you think I'm a member in a place like this?"

"Why not? Some clubs are quite legal." Asher looked at the two men-in-black. "Which means that we can't enter if we're not members?"

"Yes," one of the men said.

"Fine. She's rich, so make a card for her." Asher pointed at Rose.

"Sir, applying for a high-level member card requires 250,000."

"250,000?!" Even Asher was taken aback. That was why they said that the gangsters were rich nowadays. One high-level member was already paying 250,000. Ten of them would make it 2.5 million. Tsk, tsk. He could not imagine just how much profit could be made here.

Rose looked at Asher like he was an idiot. "Why are you wasting your time with them? Just tell them you're here to see Nina. Isn't that faster?"

Asher then said with a smile, "A high-level member card costs 250,000. Which means that there must be some special services inside. Maybe you can treat me to such an experience?" "You're dreaming!" Rose said. "Go and tell Nina that Asher is looking for her."

"You're Asher?" The two men-in-black suddenly locked their eyebrows and were immediately on high alert. "Look alive, people! Asher is here!"

Last night, Nina's people thrashed Hunter's bar. They knew that Asher would not simply let it slide and so she told all her underlings to watch out for Asher's retribution.

That was why they thought that Asher was here to retaliate and quickly called for reinforcements. Very quickly, Asher and Rose were surrounded by a group of men-in-black. Rose did not expect that Asher would hide behind her. She roared out in anger, "And you want me to protect you?!" "Alright, Asher's here to thrash our place in return! I hear that he can fight... Let's do this together!"

"Stop!"

Suddenly, a man's voice came from inside the club.

It was a man who was about thirty years old. He was the one that led the men to attack Hunter's

bar. His name was Jed White, one of Nina's most trusted lieutenants.

"You're Asher? Who's that next to you?" Jed was at least still being courteous, since Asher's

reputation was well known throughout Alexandrius.

"Does that have anything to do with you? Where's Nina? Take us to her," Rose said.

Jed glanced at her for several seconds before turning around, saying, "She's upstairs. Come with me."

Top floor.

One of the rooms was renovated like an apartment. There was a bedroom and a living room. Nina would usually stay here.

At this time, Nina was lying on the sofa. Compared to her usual self, she was wearing something casual. There was less violence about her, and she looked much more feminine.

"Boss, Asher's here," Jed said as he knocked at the door from the other side.

Nina then stood up from her sofa when she heard that and walked over to open the door. Asher was standing right outside the door, but she did not expect to see Rose there as well. Nina looked at Rose with shock. He really did not expect that she would come here with Asher. Joel and Rose were antagonistic toward each other. Now that Asher had brought her along, it was clear that he was not here to negotiate peace.

"You can go down now. Don't let anyone disturb us without my permission." Nina gave Jed the order. The latter simply nodded and left, descending down the stairs.

"You even called your mistress here. Looks like you really want to cause trouble today," Nina said as she turned and entered her room.

When Asher and Rose followed her into the room, both of them looked at the renovation. There was an office area and a resting area. The paint and decoration were also giving the room a warm atmosphere. It looked like Nina usually spent her time here.

"Your underlings thrashed Hunter's bar. I have to at least come here to hear what you have to say, right?" Asher said as he sat on the sofa.

"What do you want to hear then?" Nina glared at Asher unhappily.

Asher was shocked and simply said in a surprised tone, "Are you telling me that breaking the law is okay?!"

"I'll only obey Joel. Joel wanted Hunter's bar thrashed. If you want an explanation, go talk to him. If you want to avenge Hunter, then I'll fight you to the end. I have about two hundred people here, so we'll see if you can really fight that well," Nina said with a sneer.

Asher glanced at Rose and then said helplessly, "Looks like your reputation isn't really that useful either."

"If two hundred underlings is already enough for you, you should retire then, Nina," Rose said. "To be honest with you, as a woman myself, I'm quite impressed with you. The daughter from that small household all those years ago has become Boss Nina of Alexandrius. You've overturned my views on what women can do. However, you must have put in a lot of blood and sweat to be able to reach such a height today. That's why I hope that all your hard work won't go to waste. I'm going to be straightforward here. The Gentlemen will eliminate Joel Harrison. There's no point in staying loyal to him."

Nina sneered. "Rose Schmidt, huh? The only reason both of you are in your current position is because of the better environment you were born in. If everyone were on the same starting line, none of you would have done better than any of us. I despise all of you so-called young masters and ladies from the bottom of my heart. Do you really think that you can intimidate me that easily?"
