Secret Scion

Chapter 159 -

After a moment of hesitation, Layla then told Noelle the truth, "Noelle... Asher... That bastard... He drugged me and wanted to force himself on me. Luckily, my grandpa and the others quickly found out. If not, I would have been... Regardless, Asher is now without family and friends with his reputation ruined. Even Griffin has left him. Noelle, someone like him isn't worthy of you. Don't contact him anymore."

With that, Layla angrily hung up.

Noelle was petrified by what she had heard as her mind fell into confusion. Noelle would never believe that Asher could do something like that.

After a moment, Noelle suddenly came back to her senses and said to her assistant, "Get the car ready. I'm going to Alexandrius!"

Noelle would never believe that Asher was capable of that. It had to be a misunderstanding. The two of them had lived together for two years, and Asher had never crossed the line. Would someone like that take advantage of his own cousin?

Asher had no family and friends. His reputation was ruined

Noelle could not stay still even for a moment when she found out the situation he was in. She knew that Asher needed someone to accompany him the most right now. As Asher's partner, she had to rush to his side at once. Even if she could not say or do anything, she had to stay by his side.

Yes. That was what she had to do.

Asher continued to stay in bed when he woke up in the afternoon because he had an upset stomach, and he really did not want to move a muscle.

It was not long until his phone started ringing.

He gave it a look and noticed that it was Noelle. Asher picked up the call and only then did he know that Noelle was already in Alexandrius. He hung up and then went to take a hot shower. He did not want Noelle to know the situation he was in so that she would not be worried.

When he met up with Noelle, he pretended that nothing was wrong. He then said with a smile, "Why didn't you give me a call before you came over so I could have time to prepare?" Noelle was not sure why, but when she saw Asher trying to force a smile, she felt like crying. "There's nothing for you to prepare. I want to see the real you." Noelle did not say anything about her knowing anything. When she saw the redness in his eyes and the roughness of his skin, Noelle knew that Asher had been drinking a lot.

"You haven't eaten anything, right? I'm hungry right now, so let's get something to eat." "Sure." Asher nodded with a smile.

Afterward, Noelle and Asher went to a high-class restaurant. Asher would commonly stop by for lunch in the past.

When they were there, it was already lunch time, so there were no more private rooms. The two

of them then decided to get a place by the window on the first floor.

"You're here on business?" Asher asked.

Noelle shook her head at first, and then nodded.

Asher could not hold back his laughter and said, "You're confusing me, haha."

Noelle had a lot of things that she wanted to say, but she was not sure how to tell him.

At this moment, several young men at the next table began chatting. One of them who was wearing glasses and looked quite successful said, "Have you heard? Asher, the one that's famous in Alexandrius, is in trouble. I heard that he wanted to rape his cousin and was discovered by his family. He was then banished by the Crawfords and ended up on the streets. I don't understand what he's thinking. Why would someone like him want his own cousin when he can have anyone? What an animal."

"I've heard about it too since it's quite serious. He was the one that destroyed the Gentlemen some time ago. The one behind the Gentlemen was Rose, and she was Asher's direct competitor. Now that Asher has lost everything, he cannot even protect himself anymore. No one knows what will happen in the future, so we should all value what we have right now."

"There's nothing pitiful about Asher. My cousin is a member of the Gentlemen. Several days ago, they were dragged to Sky Bar, and he beat them up. They haven't even been discharged yet. I've seen her cousin before this as well. She's a department manager from Medea Recruitment Center. She's very pretty. He probably couldn't hold his urges back and finally took advantage of his cousin.

They were not speaking very loudly, but Asher and Noelle could still hear it perfectly well due to the short distance.

Asher did not move at all as he wore a cold expression.

Meanwhile, Noelle could not stand them talking badly about Asher. She was angered and wanted to reason with them.

Asher suddenly said, "Our dishes are here. Come, let's eat."

"Ash... You're going to let that slide?" Noelle looked at Asher in disbelief.

Asher let out a faint, bitter smile. After what happened was leaked out to the public, plenty of people would call him names. He could not tell all of them off.

Noelle was so saddened. He could see that while Asher was controlling himself so as not to get angry. He must be in a lot of pain on the inside. Noelle believed that Asher was not who they claimed him to be. There had to be a misunderstanding. That was why Noelle was thinking of seeing Layla, wanting to clarify everything.

After lunch, Asher instinctively reached for his pocket. He then realized that his cigarettes were all gone. Perhaps it was because he drank too much last night and left it at the tavern.

Noelle knew that Asher wanted to smoke, and there was a convenience shop just ahead. She then told him to wait before going to the convenience store to buy him a packet of his favorite cigarettes.

He lit up a cigarette and inhaled deeply before suddenly saying, "I've been exiled by my grandpa. I've also lost my status as the heir."

Noelle played with her bangs and then said, "I know."

"Several nights ago, Huxley invited me for a drink. Layla was there as well. I was fine after drinking, but Huxley and Layla were drugged. They said that I spiked the wine," Asher explained to her.

"It doesn't matter how many people are suspicious of you in this world, I'll always believe you. I'll never doubt you," Noelle said.

When he heard what Noelle had to say, Asher felt much more relaxed. He thought that after he had been exiled by the Crawfords, he would lose everything. Only now did he know that, even if his family and friends were to leave him, there was at least a woman who was willing to stay by his side.

"The entire Alexandrius thinks that I drugged Layla. Even she believes it to be so. Now, I don't have anything other than what I'm wearing. When I married the Stewards, at least I still had a place to stay, and you handled my three meals. But now, I've really lost everything. Will you ever regret following me?"

"If I had any regrets, I would have already regretted it two years ago. You didn't lose everything. You still have me. I can do my best to provide whatever you don't have. As long as you're willing, I'll take care of you from now on."

'I'll take care of you'. A simple sentence made Asher have such mixed feelings inside. He did not waste his time marrying into her family after all.

One could see the prosperity of a city from the number of lights that stayed on at night.

As evening descended, the entire Alexandrius was as bright as day. Even the night sky was lit up. The shopping complex was littered with customers. Noelle was holding Asher's hand with a happy smile on her face. Regardless of whether Asher was the respectable scion of the Crawford household or a poor man with nothing, she did not care. She only cared about being able to stay by his side... Or perhaps, it was better to say that she cared about whether the woman standing next to him was her or not.

"Phoebe, you said that the Webbs have agreed to our relationship? That's great! If that's the case, let's confirm our relationship as soon as possible. What do you think?"

Just as the two of them were walking, two youths coincidentally walked out of a luxury store. Just as Noelle was holding Asher's arm, the woman was holding the man's. It was Phoebe and Seth.

It was only at this time Asher realized that Phoebe and Seth were dating.

The four pairs of eyes met, and they all had a complicated expression on their faces. Especially Phoebe. She did not know why, but she quickly let go of Seth's arm. However, when she remembered that she had already broken her engagement with Asher earlier and was currently dating Seth, it had nothing to do with Asher anymore.

Phoebe once again grabbed Seth's arm and then said, "Asher. I heard that grandpa Solomon kicked you out. Why is that? I thought grandpa Solomon favors you the most?"

Seth then pushed his glasses and said with a smile, "I know the details, Phoebe. Do you want to know about it? Let me explain it to you."

Asher grabbed Noelle's hand and then said, "Let's go."
