Rosangela: The Runaway Princess (Book #2)

Chapter 8

My dad and I realized that it was not safe for me to stay in London any longer. That’s why we decided to go back to the Bloodrose Pack as soon as possible. To be honest, I was bitterly disappointed because I had to leave before meeting my adoptive family. But I knew that we ought to be careful, or else we could get caught by King Bellamy’s men.

By the time we arrived at our home in the Bloodrose Pack, we were puzzled to find people bustling around in our living room. Most of them were chatting away with each other.

“What’s going on here?” my father questioned in a very loud voice.

The buzz of conversation suddenly stopped when they noticed our presence. I didn’t know why they all looked tensed up.

Randolph came up to us and asked, “Rosanne, Ivan, what are you doing here? I thought you’re going to spend the weekend in London.”

“I should ask you the same question. What are you doing in our house?” my father demanded.

“I’ll reply your question after you answer mine,” Randolph sidestepped Dad’s question.

I rolled my eyes before elaborating, “You’re right, Randolph. We planned to stay with my adoptive family this weekend. But then, we found out that King Bellamy had his people watch my adoptive family’s house. So I failed to see my adoptive family. And finally, we decided to go home.”

“Oh I’m sorry to hear that,” Randolph said sympathetically.

I gave him a weak smile. “Thanks.”

“Now, it’s your turn to answer my question. What are you all doing in our home?” my dad demanded.

Randolph casted a sidelong glance at his father, and Alpha Wolfgang finally hastened to explain, “Actually, we’re preparing a party to welcome Rosangela to our pack. We wanted it to be a surprise, but your sudden arrival thwart our plan.”

“Yes, the surprise party is my idea. But it’s all in vain now.” Luna Meredith found it difficult to hide her disappointment.

I was astounded to find out that all of the Bloodrose Pack members were secretly arranging a surprise party for me. Did my father know about it too, but he kept it a secret from me?

I glowered at my father suspiciously. “Have you known about it too, Dad?”

My dad raised his hands in surrender. “Don’t look at me like that! It has nothing to do with me.”

“He’s right. Ivan doesn’t know anything about it,” Randolph defended him, “We deliberately don’t let Ivan in on our plans because we’re afraid that he is going to let the cat out of the bag.”

“Because Rosangela has found out about our surprise party, why don’t we have a big do for welcoming her to our pack, Honey?” Luna Meredith suggested.

“That’s a brilliant idea!” Alpha Wolfgang commented.

All the people who were present here, except for me and my father, nodded in approval.

“You don’t have to give a party to welcome me, Luna. I don’t want to put you all to a lot of trouble,” I said.

“It’s no bother, Dear. There’s a tradition in our pack that we have a party to welcome the new pack members. Even we also threw a party when the first time your father became the part of this pack, right Ivan?” Luna Meredith turned to look at my father.

“Oh yeah, I forgot.” Dad grinned.

The Luna shook her head in disapproval.

I sighed in defeat. “Fine. You all may throw a party for me.”

Everyone cheered at my statement.

“Is there anything that I can help to organize the party, Luna?” I offered.

“Don’t worry about the party arrangements, my dear! We’re going to take care of everything. You don’t need to do anything,” Luna Meredith said reassuringly.

“Oh okay.” I nodded my head in understanding. “But I’ve got a problem.”

“What is it?” the Luna inquired.

“I don’t have anything suitable to wear for the party,” I replied.

“There’s no need to worry, my dear. Let’s go shopping this afternoon to buy your dress for the party! What do you say?” said Luna Meredith enthusiastically.

My heart lifted at the mention of the word “shopping”. Yes, I loved shopping so much. That’s why I wouldn’t refuse if someone invited me to go shopping with them.

“Thank you, Luna. That’s very kind of you,” I chirped.

“Not at all, my dear,” Luna Meredith responded with a smile.

“Get ready, Ivan! These women’s shopping can make a big hole in your savings,” Alpha Wolfgang warned my father with a smirk.

“With all due respect, Alpha, I have no intention of paying for their shopping out of my own pocket. Because it’s your wife’s idea, so you’re the one who must pay for it,” my dad said calmly.

Everyone bobbed their heads in agreement.

Alpha Adolph Wolfgang’s jaw dropped. “WHAT?!”

The Alpha’s expression made all of us roar with laughter.
