Chapter 33
Third Person's Point of View:
“Your Majesty, Robert and his men are here. They wish to speak to you,” one of the guards informed King Bellamy who was sitting on his throne.
“Send them in now!” the vampire king commanded.
“All right, Your Majesty.” The guard turned to look at the throne room doors that were wide open, and then gestured for Robert and the other guards to come in.
Robert and his men entered the throne room and they all bowed down before the vampire king.
“Your Majesty,” they greeted their king.
“Any news on the search of my granddaughter?” King Bellamy inquired to the point.
“Yes, Your Majesty,” Robert answered, “We had succeed in locating your granddaughter. All this time, Princess Mirabelle was apparently hiding in Madrid with her father and a werewolf named Randolph Wolfgang.”
Amusement glimmered in his eyes after the vampire king heard that his granddaughter had been found by his men.
Nevertheless, his delight soon faded as he realized something. “Where is my granddaughter now? Why didn’t you bring her here with you?” King Bellamy demanded.
Robert hesitated before replying, “We’d raided their house in an attempt to catch Princess Mirabelle, but unfortunately, they managed to give us the slip, Your Majesty.”
“We searched for them everywhere,” another guard went on, “but we could only find Donovan and his werewolf friend, Randolph. Meanwhile, Princess Mirabelle was nowhere to be found.”
“What do you mean you couldn’t find my granddaughter?” King Bellamy asked vehemently.
“When chased after them, the three of them split up into two groups; Donovan went alone while Princess Mirabelle came with the werewolf Randolph,” Robert elaborated.
“We then found out that Donovan lost contact with his daughter and friend,” the other guard continued, “Three days later, he finally managed to find his werewolf friend, Randolph in the woods. However, Princess Mirabelle wasn’t with him. She seemed to have disappeared without a trace.”
King Bellamy turned sick to his stomach on hearing this news.
“So my granddaughter’s gone missing again?”
“I’m afraid so, Your Majesty,” Robert replied regretfully, “The only one who probably knows Princess Mirabelle’s whereabouts is Randolph. But the problem is, he was badly injured when Donovan found him and then he slipped into a coma. Thus, he can’t tell anyone where Princess Mirabelle is right now.”
“Keep looking for my granddaughter! She can’t just have vanished off the face of the earth. She must be hiding somewhere,” King Bellamy ordered through gritted teeth.
The guards nodded in understanding.
“And inform me at once if there are any changes in that werewolf’s condition. Randolph probably holds the key to solving the mystery of Princess Mirabelle’s disappearance,” the vampire king added.
“Alright, Your Majesty,” all the guards said simultaneously.
“You’re dismissed now,” said the king.
The guards bowed before they swept out of the throne room.
King Bellamy did not know that Prince Maximilian was secretly listening in on his conversation with the guards outside the throne room doors. When he heard the sound of footsteps approaching, Maximilian hurried away from the doors of the throne room before hiding behind a wall so that no one would catch him eavesdropping.
Not long after that, the vampire prince watched as the doors to the throne room opened and guards spilled into the corridor. Once those guards disappeared from view, Maximilian breathed a sigh of relief.
Before anyone could see him there, Prince Maximilian quickly walked away from the throne room. Along the way, the vampire prince replayed the conversation between King Bellamy and his guards in his mind. And anxiety began to gnaw at his soul.
'Oh no! Rosanne is separated from his father, so she’s probably in danger now,' Maximilian thought anxiously.
Although Rosangela had broken his heart when she ran away from their wedding, but Maximilian felt obligated to help her. Besides, he still had a lot of feeling for the half-blood vampire princess. He didn’t want a terrible thing to happen to the girl whom he loved.
'I ought to inform Sigmund about it,' he added inwardly.
Maximilian knew that he and Sigmund were sworn enemies, even they were always arguing every time they met. But somehow, the prince had the almost overwhelming desire to tell Sigmund what had happened to Rosangela.
Prince Maximilian understood that Sigmund had been worried sick about his princess. Thus, it would probably ease his mind a little to know the latest news of her.
'But how can I see Sigmund?' the vampire prince wondered as he stopped walking, 'He is incarcerated in a maximum security prison now. I’m sure I can’t get into the dungeon easily because the whole place must be guarded.'
Maximilian thought for a bit before saying, “I think I should call Jasper and ask for his help.”
Yes, Prince Maximilian didn’t come with his bodyguard because he sent Jasper on an errand into town earlier tonight.
Reaching into his pocket for a mobile phone, Maximilian pulled it out before calling his bodyguard.
“Hello,” Jasper greeted at the other end of the phone.
“Jasper, come here this instant!” Prince Maximilian said and with that he hung up the phone.
Quick as a flash, Jasper was at his Prince’s side. “What’s the matter, Your Highness?” he enquired.
“I need your help, Jasper,” Maximilian replied.
“What can I do for you, Your Highness?” Jasper posed another question.
Prince Maximilian looked cautiously around the corridor to make sure that they were alone before he leaned over and whispered something in Jasper’s ear, “I want you to smuggle me into the dungeon.”
“You want what?!” Jasper squawked in surprise.
“Shush!” Prince Maximilian raised a finger to his lips. “Keep your voice down! I don’t want anyone else to hear.”
“I’m sorry, Your Highness,” Jasper apologized.
“So, why do you want me to smuggle you into the dungeon, Your Highness?” His voice dropped to a whisper.
“I have to meet Sigmund. There’s something I need to tell him,” the vampire prince explained.
“What’s that?” Jasper queried out of curiosity.
“You asked too many questions,” Maximilian snorted with annoyance.
“Sorry,” Jasper said with a grin.
“Let’s go now, shall we?” Maximilian said impatiently.
“OK.” Without further ado, Jasper grasped Prince Maximilian by the arm. One moment they were in the hallway, the next they were in the dungeon. Much to their relief, they didn’t spot any security guards who usually made regular patrols in the dungeon at this hour of the night.
“Wait for me here! I’ll be back in a moment,” Prince Maximilian instructed.
Jasper nodded in understanding. “Alright, Your Highness.”
Hastily, Prince Maximilian started to make his way to Sigmund’s prison cell.
