Rosangela: The Runaway Princess (Book #2)

Chapter 10

I sneaked into the pack house. Afterwards, I crept upstairs towards the meeting room, trying not to make so much noise thus no one would notice that I was here.

Luckily, there was no one guarding outside the meeting room. So I could approach the room without being prevented.

I looked around the hallway. When I was sure that the coast was clear, I crouched down and peeped through the keyhole of the meeting room door.

Inside the meeting room, there were twelve people in all, including Alpha Adolph Wolfgang, Randolph, and my father. They were all sitting round the table.

I started eavesdropping their conversation.

“Alpha Wolfgang, how could you let a vampire live in your pack?” asked an old man who sat at the head of the table. I assumed that he was one of the council members whom Borris talked about.

“Yes,” added another council member who took a seat beside the old man, “it’s inappropriate for a vampire to live in the werewolf’s territory. She could be a threat for your pack and other nearby packs.”

My father slammed his fist on the table in anger. “Excuse me, gentlemen. The vampire you’re talking about is my daughter. And the most important is she’s only a half-blood vampire. She’s not a threat for our pack and or other packs.”

“A vampire is a vampire whether she is half-blood or pureblood. They are our enemy,” said the other council member. His voice was full of venom.

I clenched my fists until my knuckles were white. 'How could I forget the fact that I am a half-blood vampire? It means that technically I’m the enemy to the werewolves.'

“My daughter isn’t an enemy,” Dad emphasized.

“Yes, Rosanne isn’t our enemy, she’s our friend, our family,” Randolph stood up for me.

“You may regard her as friend, and think that she isn’t a threat. But what about her grandfather? We know that the girl is the granddaughter of King Bellamy, the most powerful vampire king in the whole supernatural realms. What if the vampire king attacks your pack to get her granddaughter back? Or even worse, what if he declares war on the werewolves?” One of the council members inquired fiercely.

I gasped and my hand flew to my mouth. 'Oh My God, yes, my grandfather! I had never thought that King Bellamy might attack Bloodrose Pack because the werewolves brought me here. What should I do if what the council members afraid of really happens?'

“I’m not afraid of King Bellamy. He has to kill me first if he thinks of taking my daughter away from me. And if he wants a war, it’s a war he’ll get,” my dad stated confidently.

“Beta Ivan is right,” Randolph agreed, “I’m more than ready to fight the vampire king to protect my friend, Rosanne.”

“Don’t be selfish, Beta Ivan!” The old man spoke up again, “If we go to war, innocent lives will be put at risk. You don’t want so many people die in the process of protecting your daughter, do you?”

His remarks reduced my father to silence. I knew that the council member was right, and I was sure that my dad realized it as well. If a war broke out, a lot of innocent people would be killed. I couldn’t let so many people die because of me, and my father certainly didn’t want it to happen either. That’s why he didn’t know what to say.

“Let’s get straight to the point, what exactly do you want from us, Gentlemen?” Alpha Wolfgang demanded.

The oldest council member answered firmly, “The safety of our packs is being endangered by the vampire’s presence here. That’s why you, Alpha Wolfgang, must kick her out of your territory right away.”

“No, my daughter isn’t going anywhere. She’s going to stay here with me,” my father insisted.

“My beta is right. Rosangela won’t go anywhere. She has become a part of our family now, so I will never kick her out of my pack land,” said Alpha Adolph Wolfgang.

“If you don’t want to kick her out on your own, we’re afraid we will have to use force,” one of the council members threatened.

His threat made my father’s blood boil. But before he could make a retort, Alpha Wolfgang jumped in, “Please Sir, you can’t make me kick out Rosangela from my pack. Have a heart! She has nowhere else to stay.”

“It’s no business of ours where she’s going to stay. All we want is that vampire to leave the werewolf’s territory as soon as possible,” one of them said cruelly.

“But Sir—”

“Look, Alpha Wolfgang!” The old man sitting at the head of the table interrupted, “Right now, only a few packs are aware of the vampire’s existence here. But if this news reaches to all of the packs, you know what will happen to her, right? I’m sure there are so many people who want to avenge themselves on the granddaughter of the vampire king who had killed thousands of innocent werewolves.”

“If you dare to lay a finger on my daughter, I swear I will kill every single of your family member. And I’ll make you watch it before I kill you with my own hand,” Dad bellowed.

The council member hollered, “How dare you threaten me like that! You—”

“Chill out, Gentlemen!” Alpha Wolfgang cut in, “We still can talk it over, right?”

“There’s nothing else we need to talk about, Alpha Wolfgang. Kick that vampire out of your territory soon, or else we can’t guarantee her safety anymore,” the old man stated firmly.

“I don’t need you to guarantee my daughter’s safety. I can take care of my daughter myself. I will protect her with all my might,” Dad said.

I didn’t want to listen to their conversation anymore, so I decided to walk away from the meeting room.

'I can’t stay in the Bloodrose Pack any longer. My presence will only endanger all of the people who live here. I don’t want to take risks with their lives, that’s why I must run away from here right now,' I thought.

I took off running down the hallway, hurriedly descended the stairs, and lastly went straight out of the front door, leaving it wide open. Then, I jumped down the the steps in the porch, and I made a dart for the forest.

'I’m sorry, Dad, but I have no choice but to leave you. I don’t want to become a burden to you and this pack. I love you, Dad. I hope we can meet again someday,' I said to myself tearfully.
