Rosangela: The Half-Blood Princess

Chapter 32

I spent the next whole day in my bedroom. Because I wasn’t allowed to leave my bedroom while all the vampires were sleeping during the day.

Fortunately, I had asked Prince Maximilian to buy me snacks and soft drinks last night. So I wouldn’t be starving. And they also couldn’t force me to eat the food that was laced with blood anymore.

I missed my adopted family so much. I wondered what they’re doing right now. Did they miss me too? Were they still looking for me?

Prince Maximilian told me that he would take me to meet my family after we got married. But I couldn’t wait any longer. I wanted to meet them as soon as possible.

'If only I could leave for London in a blink of an eye and return here as quick as a flash, so the vampire king wouldn’t know about it,' I wished.

'Wait!' An idea suddenly popped up in my mind. 'Maybe I can’t do that. But I know someone who can.'

As soon as the sun set, I took a quick shower and then changed into pink blouse and black jeans. I didn’t forget to put on black sneaker that Prince Maximilian had bought for me yesterday too.

I tried the door. To my surprise, it was unlocked.

“Your Highness.” The two soldiers who were guarding my bedroom bowed their heads to me as soon as I walked out of my room.

“Excuse me. Do you know where Prince Maximilian’s bodyguard is right now? I need to speak with him,” I asked them.

“Please follow me, Your Highness! I will show you to his room,” one of them said.

“Thank you,” I said.

The guards lastly escorted me to Jasper’s bedroom.

“This is Prince Maximilian’s bedroom, Your Highness.” One of the guards pointed to a door in front of us. “And that is his guard’s room,” he added, pointing to the door next to Prince Maximilian’s room.

“Thanks.” I went to Jasper’s room and knocked on the door. But there was no answer.

“Jasper?” I knocked one more time and called out his name. Again he didn’t answer.

“Maybe he is in Prince Maximilian’s bedroom, Your Highness,” one of the guards guessed.

I moved to Prince Maximilian’s bedroom and knocked on the door.

“Who is it?” Prince Maximilian shouted from the other side of the door.

“It’s me Rosanne,” I answered.

Not long after that, the prince opened the door.

“Rosanne? What a surprise! What brings you to my room?” he asked excitedly.

“Actually, I’m here to look for Jasper,” I replied.

He furrowed his eyebrows. “Jasper?”

“Yes.” I nodded. “Where is he?”

“I sent him on an errand into town,” he explained.

“Can you call him here now?” I requested.

A frown creased Maximilian’s forehead. “Why?”

“I urgently need to talk to him.”

He eyed me suspiciously. “What do you want to talk about with him?”

I grinned. “It’s a secret. Just please call him here right now!”

“Fine.” He snorted in annoyance. “Wait a minute!”

Prince Maximilian delved in his pocket, and finally, pulled out a mobile phone. Wait! A mobile phone?

“So all this time, you have a mobile phone?” I asked in astonishment.

“Of course!” he answered.

“Why didn’t you tell me that you have a mobile phone?” I demanded.

Prince Maximilian shrugged and replied, “Because you have never asked me.”

“If you have a mobile phone, why didn’t you use it yesterday to find information on the internet about shopping centers and restaurants in Brasov? You know, it would be easier than asking people whom we ran across on the street,” I complained.

Prince Maximilian slapped his forehead. “Ah, you’re right. I’m sorry, Rosanne. It completely slipped my mind.”

“Forget it! Now, call Jasper and tell him to come back here in an instant!” I ordered.

“Okay.” Prince Maximilian dialled Jasper’s number before he clamped the mobile phone to his ear.

“Hello?” I heard Jasper say at the other end of the phone.

“Jasper, come back here at once! I need your help,” Prince Maximilian commanded.

Within seconds, Jasper appeared before us. “I’m at your command. What would you like me to do, Your Highness?” he enquired.

Prince Maximilian replied, “Jasper, I told you to return here because Rosanne said that she wanted to talk to you.”

“What do you want to talk about, Your Highness?” Jasper inquired me politely.

“Let’s go somewhere a bit more private, shall we? I don’t want anyone hear what we’re going to talk about,” I requested.

“No,” Prince Maximilian disagreed, “If you want to talk to him, you must talk in front of me.”

“It’s just for a second, Maximilian. We’ll be right back,” I insisted.

Before he could respond, I dragged Jasper out of Prince Maximilian’s bedroom, and then we went into Jasper’s room.

“So what do you want to talk about, Your Highness?” Jasper asked curiously.

“Can I ask you a favour, Jasper?” I said.

“What can I do for you, Your Highness?” he queried.

“Could you please teleport me to London right now?” I pleaded.

He looked surprised. “Why do you want me to teleport you to London?”

“I want to meet my family in London,” I answered honestly.

“I’m sorry, Your Highness. I can’t do it,” he said regretfully.

“Please Jasper! I just want to meet them for a few minutes. After that, you can take me back here again,” I begged.

“But—”

“Please!” I interrupted, “I only want to tell them that I’m okay so they won’t worry about me again.”

Jasper bowed his head. “I wish I could help you, Princess. But King Bellamy would punish me if he found out what happened.”

“The king won’t find it out. We can go now and come back here five minutes later. No one will know we’re leaving. So please Jasper teleport me to London right now!” I persuaded him.

“What are you talking about, Rosanne? You asked Jasper to teleport you to London?” Prince Maximilian suddenly barged into Jasper’s bedroom. Apparently, he eavesdropped our conversation.

“Yes,” I whispered.

Maximilian held my hand gently. “Princess, I have promised you that I will take you to meet your family in London after we get married, right? So why do you ask Jasper to teleport you to London now?”

“I know, Maximilian. But I can’t wait that long. I want to meet my family as soon as possible. They must be worried about me. I have to tell them that I’m okay,” I explained.

“I understand, Princess,” he said, “But King Bellamy would kill Jasper if he found out he helped you to go back to London. Literally.”

My eyes widened in horror. “W—what?”

“Yes.” Maximilian nodded briefly. “You don’t know what the king’s capable of doing. He never tolerates any mistake. And he won’t hesitate to kill anyone who dares to betray him. Do you want Jasper die because of you?”

“No.” I shook my head. Tears rolled down my face.

“I’m so sorry, Jasper,” I apologized.

“It’s okay, Princess,” Jasper said with a smile.

“Don’t be sad, okay?” Prince Maximilian wiped my tears with the back of his hand. “Why don’t we go to the mall again tonight? I promise I’ll buy anything you want.”

My heart lifted when I heard the word mall. “Anything?”

He nodded. “Yes, anything.”

“Okay, let’s go!” I said enthusiastically.

The three of us then walked out of Jasper’s bedroom.

“I am going out with Princess Mirabelle. You don’t have to follow us because my bodyguard, Jasper will go with us,” Prince Maximilian told my bodyguards who were waiting outside the room.

The guards looked at each other meaningfully, but finally they nodded and started walking away.

“Let’s go!” he said.

“Okay,” I responded.

Prince Maximilian and I walked through some hallways and down several staircases hand in hand. Jasper followed closely behind us.

When we reached the ground floor, unexpectedly, Sigmund stood at the front door, blocking our way.

“Mind out—you’re in the way there!” Prince Maximilian barked out an order, but Sigmund wouldn’t budge.

'Oh no! It seems that I’m going to be caught in the middle of their quarrel again,' I thought.
