Rosangela: The Half-Blood Princess

Chapter 28

Departing from the mall, Prince Maximilian asked some people we came across on the way about the best restaurants in . Meanwhile, I had to wait in the car with Jasper.

I thought of running away since the prince wasn’t in the car, and Jasper seemed too busy with himself, so I was sure he wouldn’t notice if I sneaked out of the car. But I was starving now, thus, I decided to escape after I had dinner first.

After asking multiple people, the vampire prince lastly returned to the car. He told me some restaurants that people recommended to him and asked me to decide where we would have dinner. I finally chose a local restaurant called Sergiana. Because most people whom Prince Maximilian asked recommend that restaurant, I thought it must be one of the most favorite restaurants in Brasov. That’s why I wanted us to eat there.

Located at Strada Muresenilor 28, Sergiana was an underground cellar restaurant with its exposed brick vaults and wooden paneling. The room was furnished with wooden tables and chairs. Photos of the city in the old days decorated the walls.

A waiter dressed in traditional clothes approached and greeted us warmly, “Bună seara! (Good evening!)

“Bună seara! (Good evening!)” Prince Maximilian and Jasper responded at the same time.

Meanwhile, I didn’t say anything because I couldn’t speak Romanian.

“O masă pentru trei persoane, vă rog (A table for three please),” Jasper said to the waiter.

“Urmăriți-mă, domnule! (Please follow me, Sir!)” He led us to an empty table in the middle of the room.

Prince Maximilian and Jasper sat side by side, meanwhile I sat down across from them.

“Aş putea săvăd meniul vă rog? (Could I see the menu please?)” Prince Maximilian asked.

“Imediat (right away),” answered the waiter. He then left us, but returned a moment later with three menus.

“Poftiţi meniul vărog (Here is the menu!)” the waiter said while giving each of us a menu.

“Thank you.”

“Mulţumesc (thank you).”

The three of us said at the same time and then we looked at the menu.

I frowned when I saw that the menu was written in Romanian.

“Do you have a menu in English?” I asked the waiter.

He looked confused. Maybe because he didn’t speak English.

“Aveţi un meniu în limba engleză?” Prince Maximilian lastly translated what I had just said so the waiter could understand.

“Da. Imediat (Yes. Right away).” He left again and not long after that came back with another menu.

“Poftiţi meniul vărog (Here is the menu!)” The waiter gave me the menu with a smile.

“Thank you,” I said and then began studying the menu again.

“Aş putea săiau comanda acum? (May I take your order now?)” the waiter inquired.

“Da (Yes),” Prince Maximilian replied, “Voi servi ciorba ardeleneasca (I’ll have ciorba ardeleneasca = Transylvanian sour soup with tarragon).”

“Voi servi ciolan cu fasole (I’ll have ciolan cu fasole),” Jasper said.

“And what do you want to order, Princess?” Prince Maximilian asked me.

“I would like chicken soup please,” I answered.

Nodding, Prince Maximilian then translated it to the waiter, “Pentru ea, Supă de pui, vă rog (For her, chicken soup please).”

The waiter jotted down our order on his notebook, and then asked again, “Ce aţi dori să beţi? (What would you like to drink?)

“O Ursus bere, vă rog (An Ursus beer, please!)” Jasper answered.

“Un pahar de vin roşu vă rog (A glass of red wine please!)” Prince Maximilian said. “And what do you want to drink, Princess?”

“I would like a lemon tea please,” I said, and Prince Maximilian interpreted it soon, “Un ceai cu lămâie, vă rog.”

The waiter wrote down our order on his notebook again. “Mai doriţi cevadomnule? (Would you like something else sir?)

“Nu, asta etot, mulţumesc (No, that’s all, thank you),” Prince Maximilian said.

“Te rog asteapta un moment! Voi reveni imediat cu comanda ta (Please wait a moment! I’ll be right back with your order).” The waiter lastly excused himself and went into the kitchen to get our order

“I don’t know that you, vampires can eat human food,” I said in a whisper.

“Just because we don’t eat human food doesn’t mean we can’t, Princess,” Prince Maximilian said under his breath.

“Yeah,” Jasper added in a hushed tone, “We can still eat human food if it consists of blood, Princess.”

“I see.” I nodded my head. “But wait! How can you get blood here? Don’t tell me you’re going to bite me!”

Prince Maximilian chuckled. “Relax Princess! We don’t need your blood because we always bring our blood supply everywhere.” He pulled a vial of blood out of his pocket and showed it to me.

“Yuck! It’s disgusting!” I commented.

The two guys in front of me laughed at me.

Several minutes later, the waiter returned with our order.

“Poftiţi ciorba ardeleneasca, ciolan cu fasole, supă de pui! (Here are your ciorba ardeleneasca, ciolan cu fasole, and supă de pui!)” he said while putting our food on the table.

“Poftiţi Ursus bere, vin roşu, ceai cu lămâie! (Here are your Ursus bere, vin roşu, ceai cu lămâie!)” he said, putting our drinks beside our plates.

“Mulţumesc (thank you),” Prince Maximilian said.

“Cu plăcere! Poftă bună! (With pleasure! Enjoy your meal!)” The waiter finally left our table.

I spooned the chicken soup and brought it to my mouth. The soup tasted very delicious on my empty stomach.

Prince Maximilian and Jasper began eating too. Of course after they secretly added a few drops of blood into their food.

We ate in total silence. Once we finished our meal, Prince Maximilian said, “Let’s go home now, shall we? It’s almost midnight.”

“Okay,” I said, but then I added in my mind, 'Yeah, we’re going home. You’re going back to the palace.Meanwhile, I am leaving for the UK Embassy so I can go home to England as soon as possible.'

I tried my best to suppress my excitement so that Prince Maximilian and Jasper wouldn’t get suspicious of me.

“Ospatar! Nota de plată, vă rog! (Waitress! The bill, please!)” Prince Maximilian shouted.

A waitress immediately approached us and handed the bill to Prince Maximilian.

The prince looked at the bill and then asked, “Pot să plătesc -cu cardul de credit? (Can I pay by credit card?)

“Da (yes),” the waitress answered.

Prince Maximilian pulled a credit card out of his wallet and gave it to the waitress. After that, the waitress scurried to the cashier to pay our bill.

While Prince Maximilian was waiting for his credit card, I thought it was the perfect time to execute my escape plan.

“Future Husband, I need to use the bathroom. Please excuse me.” I rose from my chair and was about to walk away. But Prince Maximilian stopped me.

“Wait!” he said.

I gulped. 'Don’t tell me he already knew I’m going to escape!' I thought.

“Y—yes?” I said nervously.

“Do you know where the bathroom is?” he asked.

I breathed a sigh of relief inwardly. 'Thank God he doesn’t suspect me.'

“I don’t have idea,” I replied, shaking my head.

“Wait! Let me ask the waitress!” he said.

“Ospatar! (Waitress!)” He called a passing waitress.

The waitress approached us right away.

“Spuneţi-mi, vă rog, unde este baia? (Could you tell me, please, where is the bathroom?)” the prince asked her.

“Baia este acolo (The bathroom is over there).” She pointed to a hallway across from us.

“She said that the bathroom was over there.” Prince Maximilian also pointed to the direction that the woman mentioned earlier.

“Okay. Thank you.” I said to the waitress.

She nodded before walking away from us.

“Excuse me.” I intended to walk, but suddenly Prince Maximilian rose to his feet.

“I’ll come with you,” he said.

'Of course he wanted to follow me to the bathroom. This vampire prince certainly wouldn’t let me escape easily,' I said in my mind, upset.

“I’m not a child, Maximilian. You don’t have to go with me to the bathroom,” I scolded at him.

“I understand, Princess. But I’m just afraid of your safety,” he said worriedly.

“For goodness’ sake, I just want to go to the bathroom, Maximilian. Where’s the harm in that?” I grumbled.

He raised his hands in surrender. “Alright, Princess. You can go to the bathroom alone. Just scream if you feel you’re in danger, okay?”

“Whatever.” I started walking towards the bathroom.

'That vampire prince is so annoying. I am glad I’ll see the back of him soon,' I thought.
