Richest Mogul

Chapter 1386

Skylar had never seen the man before.

It seemed that Janine and the man had known each other for a long time. Otherwise, he wouldn't be calling her by her first name so warmly.

But Skylar didn't have time to ask who he was.

"Mom. let's go to the hospital and get your foot checked out," she said.

Janine immediately declined. "No, it's fine. I fall all the time and am used to it. Even if we go to the hospital, they'll only tell me to go home and rest. We still have some medicated cream at home. I'll just apply it." As she spoke, she walked to the door and was about to open it.

Then, she turned to the middle-aged man beside her and said, "Mr. Read, come in and have a cup of tea before you leave."

When Ted Read heard that, he glanced at Skylar before replying to Janine, "I still have some matters to attend to in the office. I'll treat you to a meal another time."

Ted left right after saying that.

Janine felt a little embarrassed that she had been given a ride home but couldn't even offer him a cup of tea.

After Ted left, Skylar asked, "Mom, who's that?"

"Oh, I forgot to introduce you. That's Mr. Ted Read, the landlord of our building. He's been a great help to our company these past two years.

"Just now, he happened to see me fall after work and offered to give me a ride home," Janine explained.

Skylar just nodded before she said, "Let's go home and check your injury. If it's serious, we should still go to the hospital."

Seeing how concerned Skylar was, Janine smiled and nodded, "Alright, we'll take a look first."

Back at home, Janine took off her shoes and saw some redness and swelling around her ankle, but it didn't look too bad. With some spray and bandage, she'd likely be fully recovered in a couple of days.

"You see, I told you it wasn't serious. I just need a bit of rest," Janine said, visibly relieved. Perhaps it was age that made her dislike going to the hospital for every little issue.

Skylar checked the time and asked, "Mom, have you eaten dinner? I can make you some pasta."

"I haven't had time to eat dinner yet, but there's fresh pasta in the fridge," Janine replied, feeling a bit hungry. She wasn't used to food outside and preferred to cook her own meals whenever possible.

20 minutes later, Skylar finished cooking the pasta. It was a simple tomato sauce pasta.

As Janine ate, she asked Skylar why she was able to come home today.

"Joe had something to do today, and there are some guests at home, so I came back to spend time with you. And it's lucky that I did, or you might have gone hungry tonight," Skylar said before thinking that she might have exaggerated a little. Ted probably wouldn't have left Janine without a meal.

Janine couldn't help but laugh. "You're really my little sweetheart. By the way, has Joe remembered anything from the past recently?"

"No, I don't think he can recover his memory anytime soon," Skylar replied, suddenly feeling that it wasn't so important whether he remembered or not.

For Joe, his memories were indeed significant. But now, the effort to remember, the struggle to regain his memories made it seem unimportant.

Besides, there seemed to be some issues over at Avalon Residence that might have a significant impact on him.

Janine nodded and said, "These things can't be rushed. Take it slowly. Even without his memories, you're still a married couple." "Yes, Mom, you're right."

The mother and daughter continued to chat for a while.
