Richest Mogul

Chapter 1385

Simona felt she had grown up and could handle these matters on her own without troubling Aiken. As she reached the school entrance, a gust of evening wind blew past her, bringing her back to a state of calm. She decided to call Stephen.

However, Stephen didn't answer. She didn't try calling again. Lately, he had been busy with various matters and often didn't answer her phone.

Yet this time, she suddenly felt as though she had never truly understood him.

...

Stephen was out to dinner with Rosa at a Thaspia restaurant. Rosa was drinking and pouring out her troubles to him.

"I'm not willing to let go. If it were you who had spent three years loving someone, would you be able to just walk away that easily? Would you truly wish him well? He wants me to return to Murida, but I'm not going back. No matter what, I'm staying here." Stephen replied, "Jipsburg is a great place to live. You could buy a house and work here. If you need help during this time, I'm here for you."

With a somewhat dazed look, Rosa gazed at Stephen. "How about I start a company and have you manage it? I believe you have that capability."

She had the funds to become a silent partner. She knew Joe looked down on her, thinking her background was poor and that she had never worked before. So, she decided to show him what a strong woman could do.

A spark of interest lit up Stephen's eyes as he felt his phone vibrating in his pocket. Someone was calling him, but at that moment, he had no desire to answer, no matter who it was.

He knew the woman before him could offer him everything he desired. "If you believe in me, I will do everything I can to make it work. I promise you won't lose any money."

Rosa felt utterly confident in Stephen. In a city as large as Jipsburg, he was her only friend and the one person she could trust.

Moreover, his willingness to help her from the very beginning showed that he was a good person, someone worthy of her complete trust.

Besides, she was good at reading people. She recognized that Joe was extraordinary three years ago. He was someone who could provide her with a life beyond her imagination, and time had proven her right.

Now, she had the same feeling about Stephen. She believed Stephen was capable of providing her the opportunity to be hands-off, allowing her to earn money while she relaxed.

It was bound to work.

...

Skylar returned to Rosestone Residence unexpectedly and hadn't informed anyone beforehand. Upon arriving, she rang the doorbell but received no answer.

It dawned on her that Janine hadn't come home yet.

It was strange. She should have been off work by now. Janine rarely stayed late at the office, especially since everything was running smoothly.

There were so many employees, each handling their tasks. While she pondered this, she decided to call and check.

However, the call didn't go through. It was out of service. Just as she was about to call the office instead, the elevator doors opened, and she overheard a conversation.

"Janine, you should have your foot checked out at the hospital. Why don't you put down those groceries, and I'll take you?"

"No, no, it's an old injury. I fell a few years back ago and have had similar incidents since. Now, when I accidentally bump it now, it hurts a lot. It's nothing serious. I'll just go home and put on a bandage," Janine replied. Neither of them noticed Skylar standing at the door. It was only when they got closer that they recognized her.

"Skye?" Janine called out.

Skylar's gaze landed on Janine's foot. "Mom, did you twist your ankle again?"

"I slipped on the stairs, but it's nothing to worry about." Janine felt a bit embarrassed. She hadn't expected to injure herself today and run into acquaintances right after.

The man next to Janine added, "You should go to the hospital for a check-up."

At those words, Skylar looked up at the man. He was in his 40s, appearing quite composed, and clearly someone who took fitness seriously.
