Chapter 1375
Skylar and Joe had gone through so much but had finally reunited and could now see the bright side of life together. Perhaps she could look forward to welcoming a grandchild soon.
"Edgar made today's lunch. It's been a while since you had his cooking, right? Hurry and try it. He's been perfecting his culinary skills for his daughter-in-law and grandchild these past few years, and his cooking has improved," Gloria said. Skylar nodded as she sat down. "Let me give it a taste."
After taking a bite, her eyes lit up. "Edgar's cooking really has gotten better!"
"Then eat up. You've had it rough over the past few years in Murida with me. Although Veronica's cooking is good, it can't compare to the flavors back home in Jipsburg," Gloria said with a smile.
Suddenly, her gaze landed on the marks on Skylar's neck. She inwardly scolded Joe for being so reckless. No wonder Skylar had woken up so late.
She had to find a moment to remind Joe to be more considerate.
Skylar replied, "I haven't had a rough time at all with you in Murida, Grandma. I've enjoyed our time together, and I've learned a lot of things that I couldn't have in Jipsburg."
Gloria genuinely regarded Skylar as her own granddaughter, showing her with affection and care, fully aware of Skylar's genuine feelings.
Suddenly realizing her time was running out, she looked at Skylar and said, "Now that we're all back, can I expect to hold a great-grandchild soon?"
At those words, Skylar suddenly remembered that they hadn't taken precautions the night before. After all, they didn't have any contraceptives at home.
Noticing how Skylar couldn't even lift her head in embarrassment, Gloria chuckled and said, "I'll go watch some TV now. I heard there's a really good show on."
While Gloria settled in to watch her show, Skylar found herself a little distracted. Given the current situation between her and Joe, she wondered if it was really the right time to consider having children.
That thought popped into her mind but was quickly dismissed. Having a child together would be a wonderful thing. It was something they had planned three years ago.
...
In the hospital ward, Rosa felt utterly drained after undergoing a series of tests. She had no friends in Jipsburg.
Joe had completely cut her off, and Calvin, who usually stayed in touch with her, was unlikely to offer any support now.
So, she reached out to Stephen, the one who had brought her to the hospital.
Stephen, a handsome and cheerful college student, had a way of making her feel nostalgic about her college days. He had brought her some fruit.
"Is there anything else you want? I can go get it," he offered.
Rosa shook her head, her voice weak. "How much did the fruit cost? And I know the cab fare wasn't cheap either. Let me pay you back." "It's nothing. It didn't cost much," he quickly replied.
Noticing Stephen's well-worn jeans, Rosa realized he was a struggling student, so she transferred him ten thousand dollars through PayPal.
Money was the one thing she had plenty of. Joe had given her some tens of millions of dollars as a breakup settlement.
When Stephen heard the notification of the money transfer on his phone, he raised an eyebrow. "Isn't your boyfriend coming to see you?" he asked.
Rosa's eyes reddened. "He only has eyes for someone else now. I can't believe I came from Murida, and I ended up looking like a fool."
"You're too good for him. He'll regret it soon," Stephen said reassuringly.
"Do you really think so?" she asked.
"Of course!"
