Revolt (Legends and Love)

Revolt: Chapter 52

I feel like I’m going to be sick. Reign won’t even look at me. She’s pale and hurt. I see it.

I wanted to tell her from the beginning but I didn’t, and now it’s like a train wreck. I watch her close down. All that joy, happiness, and hope we slowly brought back into her life disappears. Her eyes turn cold and hard, just like when we first met her.

I watch the woman I love rebuild herself into someone I don’t recognize, all because of our stupidity and desire to protect her.

At first, they asked us not to tell her, but then I couldn’t. She was just getting her life back together, and I didn’t want to uproot it again. I made a stupid decision.

I stare at her, unable to look away. She doesn’t even glance at us, her gaze firmly on the head of her label. She’s my obsession, I live for her, and her denying me her attention is killing me.

“Miss Harrow,” I say softly, and she flinches but doesn’t look at me.

I lay my hands on the table, leaning closer. “Baby,” I plead, “look at us, please.” She continues to avoid looking at me, but I see her shoulders hunch. “Baby, please, we would never hurt you, I promise. You have to listen to our reasons.”

“My love, he’s not lying. We would never hurt you. I’m so sorry, please.”

The others try, all of us pleading and interrupting the meeting.

She continues to sit there without even glancing at us, as if we are below her.

Reign acts as if she has forgotten we exist when she is the center of our world, and I can’t even blame her. We broke her heart and her trust. We knew the consequences of our choice, and I can already see her running away from us, but this time when she leaves, she will take all our hearts.

“Are we done?” she asks, completely ignoring us. Her tone is hard and cold.

“Yes,” he responds, and she stands without even looking at us. If I let her walk out that door, we are done forever. I will never see her again.

I’ll lose her.

“Reign,” I yell, ignoring the whispers and looks. I push away from the table and stand. Cillian catches me around the waist, and security holds us back as we try to go after her. “Baby, look at me! I’m sorry. Look at me! Please fucking look at me,” I scream. “I love you!”

“Reign!”

She doesn’t look back once.
