REVENGE OF THE BETRAYED WOLF

Chapter Chapter twenty one

Amidst the chaos, a black van bursts onto the scene. Freya, Isis, Sienna and Apollo get out, each boldly brandishing a bow.

"Ami, you must transform. Sienna and Apollo support you," says Isis, sensing the presence of someone familiar.

"And you, Isis, what do you intend to do?" asked Freya, noticing the puzzled expression on her friend's face.

"I think I can find out who's behind the orcs," Isis replied, moving towards the outside of the herd as if guided by an invisible force.

Phoenix emerged from the shadows, a blue she-wolf with silvery reflections who seemed to be wrapped in a cloak of ice and her eyes blazing. Her ferocious growl rang out as she lunged at the orc attacking Crono and his father. Meanwhile, Sienna kept the orcs busy with precise arrows, and Freya unleashed an icy blast that transformed the beasts into stone statues.

Freya's astonishing transformation stunned Crono. He stood dumbfounded, watching the she-wolf attack the beasts with her icy growl. Agamemnon, meanwhile, watched in amazement. Sienna and Apollon distracted the creatures, while Phoenix petrified them with his icy breath.

A tap on the shoulder snapped Cronos out of his stupor. It's Agamemnon shouting at him.

"What are you waiting for, let's go!"

Crono ordered his men to form up in pairs, strategically encircling the orcs so that Freya could paralyze them more effectively.

Meanwhile, Isis headed for a small hill and spotted someone familiar. Recognizing him, she smiled.

"Where have you been, brother?" he asked.

Chesay, looking unruffled, replied coldly:

"You were my sister. I stopped considering you as such when you joined that wolf and refused to join me in avenging those who took the lives of our parents. Let me inform you that I have avenged them and finished off their murderers." "Why are you doing this? These people are innocent. Why bring these orcs to destroy the lands of our fathers?" asked Isis, bewildered.

Chesay's painful words echoed in the air. Isis couldn't hold back her tears as she heard the truth revealed between them. They were twin brothers, but their tragic family history had separated them.

"Innocent was my mother, and her only sin was to fall in love with a wolf. She was condemned as a witch, and in wolf country, that could not be allowed. She was killed. It's as simple as that. And you, by joining these wolves, are just like them," Chesay explained coldly.

Isis let her tears flow as she recalled the fateful day. Her father, a member of the Yinka tribe, had confronted the tribal guards who were trying to kill her mother because she was considered a witch. The outcome was tragic: his father was pierced by a sword and his mother was taken away, tied to a tree and burned alive.

At the age of 16, from their hiding place, the children saw the guards approaching to capture them. One of them, moved by compassion, alerted them to flee. As they fled, they met Apollo, who offered them bread and water, assuring them of his help. Although Isis trusts the young man, Chesay, resentful and blank-eyed, shouts at him.

"He's a wolf, like the ones that killed Dad. If you go with him, you'll be like them and you won't be my sister anymore."

Isis was at a crossroads, frightened, exhausted, sleepy and hungry. Unable to utter a word, she only cried.

"It's your decision. For me too, you're dead today." Chesay turned his back on her and fled.

It was then that Isis met Apollo, and she kept the weight of that day in her memories, still wondering what would become of her brother's life. She shook her head to free herself from these memories. "You've already avenged the death of our parents and made innocent people suffer in this herd. Please, Chesay, stop this slaughter. Ask these creatures to stop," Isis begs in desperation.

"The werewolves must die. Just as you condemned my mother for being a witch, I condemn you to misery and the decay of your lands for being wolves," Chesay boldly replied.

Isis drew her dagger and held it out to her brother, as a symbolic gesture to reach his heart. Her brother walked down the hill with a sinister smile, stopped in front of her and took the dagger in his right hand.

"If you wish to die for these people, I will grant your wish.

Chesay tightened his grip on the dagger, and just as he was about to advance it, Isis, tears streaming down her cheeks, made a quick movement. She seized her brother's hand, twisted it and plunged it into her own chest. Chesay fell to the ground, put his hand to his chest, pressed on the wound, tried to speak, but choked on his own blood.

Isis dropped her body, knelt on the ground and sobbed in pain. Her only blood relative had just died by her own hand.

"Forgive me, brother, I had to put an end to this massacre." Raising her head, she was surprised to find herself surrounded by orcs who lifted her in their arms as if she were their queen.

During the battle, those present were stunned to see the orcs running into the manor. Phoenix regained her human form and followed them, confused by the scene. She saw a man bleeding to death on the floor and her friend being carried by the orcs as if they were protecting her.

Isis motioned to the orcs to set her down. With a sad look on her face, she approached Freya and embraced her. In a saddened tone, she told her friend of the painful revelation.

"Ami, he was my brother. Do you remember my family history? Well, it's Chesay, but his heart was poisoned. I gave him the chance to change his mind, and he chose to kill me. I had to finish him off for the good of our caste." She broke away from Freya and looked again at the orcs, "They think I'm now their leader because I defeated Chesay, their master.

"Ami, what are you going to do now?" asked Freya worriedly.

"Right now, I don't know where they came from. I'll have to find out, but I'm going to accompany them and try to educate them." Isis smiled intriguingly, "I used to run away from packs, but now I'm leading a pack of orcs. I'll take them to Yinka's pack and try to rebuild it. It's the only option I have at the moment, as long as the alpha leader lets me."

"Go with them. This pack isn't populated, you can move in. As long as they don't bother the wolves, we won't take revenge on the remaining orcs," Crono said thickly.

The friends hugged reluctantly and said goodbye. Isis noticed her friend's nostalgia and said.

"I'll keep an eye on you. When you're really in trouble, I'll be there," she smiled, recalling the episode of her friend's heat. Isis could have intervened, but she preferred to let her friend enjoy her love for a few days. Then Isis took Sienna's hand and whispered in her ear.

"Now that you've found your mate, don't worry. He won't know who you are until you decide to face him." Isis knew magic, but she concentrated more on her combat training with her friends.

At dawn, people watched the orcs move away, led by Isis.
