Chapter Chapter thirteen
"Listen to me, Freya, you're not going to stick your nose into this matter involving Sith pride. I'm the alpha leader of this region and it's my duty to thoroughly investigate how the Kelpies got in," he glared at her, before continuing in an authoritative tone, "Now, you're going to make a good wife and you're going to stay here and manage your affairs as Luna from this mansion.
"Of course I won't! I'm not going to do what you tell me, you really are a fool. Sith pride issues have nothing to do with me." He let out a great, rage-laden sigh, "The bastard's too clever to frame his own family without being spotted. Don't worry, I'll destroy him with my bare hands," Freya's eyes turned to fire. Crono was surprised by the rancor emanating from them.
"Freya, you know who the traitor is. Tell me who's plotting against me. Trust me, I'll help you destroy him."
Freya suddenly burst out laughing, rose from the sofa and placed the documents in her hand on the desk. She stood in front of him and said in a gruff voice.
"I don't know who the infiltrator in the Sith pack is, so I want to be informed of what you find out. Besides, how can I trust a man who sends one of his mistresses to attack me?"
"Freya, I didn't send anyone to hurt you. I admit Eris isn't my mistress and there's nothing sentimental between us. She was only there to keep an eye on you and prevent you from complaining to your father before I gathered evidence of the alleged betrayal." Crono swallowed hard before continuing, "Since the death of Lea, the woman I loved and lost the day the Kelpies attacked my pack, I wanted nothing more to do with your family. Your father insisted I marry you, and the day we learned we were compatible, he offered me his support to become the leader of this region. I saw the opportunity and wasn't going to miss it. Besides, I thought you'd be here to spy. That's why Eris would only be here to keep an eye on you. Don't get me wrong, that evidence you had in your hands incriminates your father," he felt the need to tell her the truth.
Freya felt a twinge in her heart, fighting back the tears that threatened to come. She couldn't understand why she felt so sad to learn that Crono had loved another wolf who wasn't his mate, while she, his mate, had received nothing but contempt in the past. His heart was pounding, and Phoenix howled with sadness. Moving closer to his she-wolf, he said: "Fénix, we're not meant to be our mate's great love. Be strong. We've been over this. We're only here to avenge the life that was taken from us in the past." His she-wolf lowered her head and nodded.
Crono saw her lost and regretted confessing the truth, but he felt the need to be honest with her. On a whim, he felt like kissing her, tasting those full lips he could feel calling to him. He took a step towards her, grabbed her waist with one hand and, with the other, placed it behind her head. He wouldn't let her escape.
"What are you doing, you fool? Let go of me!" she protested, trying to free herself from his grip that had caught her off guard.
Crono pressed his lips to hers, tasted her bottom lip and began to kiss her. His heart raced when he noticed that she looked like a frightened puppy not knowing what to do. Although she pushed him away, he wouldn't let go. He took the opportunity to slip his tongue into her delicate mouth, exploring it without restraint. He realized that his tongue was inexperienced and clashed awkwardly with hers, revealing that this was their first kiss. When he noticed that she was relaxing her body, Crono took the opportunity to enjoy the mouth he was craving at that moment. A low moan escaped Freya's lips, and he groaned with desire. But when he realized what he was feeling, he abruptly disengaged himself from her. Freya was breathless, she felt breathless. She didn't know what to do. Surprised, she shouted at him.
"Why did you do that? You're a crawling wolf. Don't you ever kiss me again without my consent!"
"This is your punishment for defying me and making me lose my head. Every time you act like a savage, I'll kiss you at my leisure. So think carefully before you act." Crono pulled away from her, not because he didn't want that mouth and those awkward kisses that belonged only to him, but because he was afraid that, for the first time, he wouldn't be able to control his urges to kiss her. He didn't understand why, being a man who knew how to curb his desires. When he was with Léa, because she wasn't his mate, when he smelled an omega in heat, he managed to control his desire to mate with other wolves in heat near him. Even with Lea, he controlled his desire to be with her. But he couldn't understand why he'd lost control for a few seconds.
Freya kicked several times, sensing that he had taken advantage of her weakness. Unable to find reasonable words to say, embarrassed, she turned her back on him and hurried out of the office without looking at anyone. Crono smiled, amused by her reaction. He found it charming to see her soften and blush.
Dionisio then entered the office with a smile as he saw the state of agitation in which Freya had emerged.
"I don't see what's so funny about that smirk. We'd better get to work." Crono spoke with a glance at her, walked to his chair and sat down.
"I couldn't hold back the urge to laugh at the way your wife walked out of here, ashamed."
Crono began in earnest to go through some documents, he didn't want to talk about what had happened in the office with his friend. His mind was in chaos because of that kiss.
Freya felt a strange sensation run through her body. She didn't know how she'd arrived in his room, her legs trembling. She couldn't understand why he'd kissed her. She couldn't remember Crono kissing her in her other life. They'd only been there once, and she remembered it being painful. She'd gone into heat, he'd climbed on top of her and left her there, suffering from the heat that enveloped her. She remembered the excruciating pain of mating desire, causing painful contractions in her intimate area. At that moment, the memory of the kiss came flooding back, leaving her with a mixture of confusion and anger.
