Chapter Chapter nineteen
Under the dark blanket of night, wolf country was shrouded in a darkness that hid Chesay, a sorcerer full of resentment and contempt for the wolf caste. His heart was inflamed by the loss of his parents at the hands of Yinka's pack, and his thirst for vengeance now extended to other packs.
A year ago, when the moon was tinged red, Chesay unleashed his magic to open a portal to a prehistoric parallel world populated by giant, robust orcs, brutal beings with little knowledge. He manipulated them like puppets, making them follow him blindly, promising them lush lands and power in exchange for their loyalty.
The orcs advanced towards the Sith herd. Alarms rang out in the dark night, announcing the arrival of the dreaded orcs. Panic gripped the population, forcing them to flee their homes and take refuge in the manor. The alpha and the wolf- warriors, their coats bristling, prepared for the impending battle.
Dionisio was in Crono's office, ready to go home, when his phone rang. When he picked it up, he heard Camelia's voice.
"Hello Camelia, what's the reason for your call?
"Dionysus, the orcs are closing in on the herd. We're preparing for their attack. Bastian has already been informed."
"I'll alert the alpha. Protect Agamemnon until help arrives. If anything happens to him, our moon won't spare us." Hearing this, Crono immediately stood up, sensing that something serious was about to happen.
"Agamemnon is preparing the warriors to face these beasts. I doubt he'll be able to convince them not to fight. The herd is in chaos, everyone is heading for the manor while the warriors guard the gates," Camellia replies. "We're already on our way. We hope to arrive in time." Dionysius hung up the call, his eyes filled with concern, he looked at his friend and said, "The Sith pack was preparing to face the imminent attack of the orcs, who were getting dangerously close."
"I will accompany you. This battle won't be easy, but we'll fight with everything we've got to protect our caste. Order our warriors to prepare for battle. I'm going to change and say goodbye to my wife."
Crono walked briskly to his room. He dressed in battle gear, aware that he was facing an imminent threat. The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on his shoulders; he didn't want any more innocent people to suffer at the hands of the orcs. Leaving his room, Crono headed down the corridor towards Freya's door. This time, it was different. He felt the need to say goodbye, recognizing that this battle was more dangerous than previous ones against violent beings. But surprise overcame him as Freya stepped through the door, dressed in a white shirt, dark leather pants and sturdy boots. A high ponytail adorned her hair, and her eyes revealed the fear she was trying to hide as she stepped into the hallway. "I was going to look for you. My herd is being attacked by orcs. We have to go and help my father," Freya expressed in desperation.
"I know. Sith pride is in danger, and Dionysus and I are going to help defend it. I need you to stay here safely. I've come to say goodbye."
Freya felt a lump in her throat, the reality of this moment hitting her hard. Her eyes turned blue with flashes of fire-gold. She frowned and shouted.
"You can't forbid me to help my father. My people need me, so I'm coming with you."
Crono heaved a great sigh, bent down and scooped her up like a sack of potatoes, carrying her back into the room; he threw her on the bed and, with a dark look, shouted.
"You're staying here. You're going to wait for news without doing anything crazy. I need you safe and sound, do you understand me? This battle won't be easy, but we'll fight with everything we've got to protect our flocks." "You're not sending me, asshole. It's my father who's in danger, and I'm going whether you like it or not."
The tension was palpable, and a dance of intense glances between them ensued. Crono was worried for Freya's safety, his desire to protect her beating in his heart. For her part, Freya felt a surge of adrenalin, eager to join the battle and face the threat to her pack.
She bowed, but he was more skilful and moved quickly to the door. He stepped out and locked the door, leaving her locked in. She leaned against the door with regret, feeling the weight of her decision. She'd wanted to taste his lips before leaving.
Meanwhile, Typhoon howled, expressing reluctance to leave her alone. Throat knotted, Crono spoke with sincerity.
"Don't do anything crazy, my beast. Stay right here. Today, we're going to face those beasts. If I don't come back alive, I just want to tell you that in the more than a month I've been sharing this mansion with you, tasting your body and savoring your lips, my life has been a roller coaster of emotions. Even though you hate me, I feel that I love my future partner. If I come out of this confrontation alive, I'll find my way to your heart. I only ask you, my beast, to take care of yourself. For you, I'll give anything to save your people."
"Damn it, Crono, open the door." Freya didn't hear Crono's declaration of love. Tears streaming down her cheeks as she struggled with the handle to try to get out, jaws clenched, she screamed at him, "If anything happens to my father, I swear to you, Crono, I'll kill you. Let me out."
Crono, his gaze cold, disappeared down the corridor, leaving guards to watch over the mansion and forbidding his wife to leave. Freya, furious, called Isis.
"Crono left me locked in. Ami, see how they'll get me out of here, my father needs me."
"Sienna joined us when we heard about the attack on the herd and she's ready to support us." Isis looked at the green-eyed brunette in front of her, "Freya, if you have guards watching you, she's the one who'll get you out." "Okay, but come quick," Freya pronounced, locking the phone with concern in her eyes.
"Are you sure you want to support Freya? She's my best friend, and I want to fight alongside her, but this battle isn't yours. You can refuse now," Isis said, looking at the two young men in front of her.
At the age of twenty-eight, Apollo devoted himself to training wolf cubs who wanted to learn how to defend themselves. This is how he met Isis and Sienna, two wolves in distress whom he had rescued at the time, and through Isis, Freya. His father was one of the finest warriors to have fought alongside the former alpha chief, and it was from him that he learned what he knows of fighting and defense techniques.
"You can count on me to help you. All three of you have become my family. Even if Freya is the most distant and distrustful, she needs our help, and brothers and sisters support each other to the death. Besides, it's been years since I've tasted the adrenalin of battle. I'm going to get some weapons and I'll be right back," said Apollo as he left the room.
"You heard the man, Apollo, let's fight!" A smile spread across Sienna's face as she had to flee the lands of the Kelpies. She hopes to return there one day to deliver her mother and sister from Tirro's yoke.
